Blues boss John Mousinho chats to The News follow Tuesday night's victory against Bolton at Fratton Park
Transcript
00:00 So John, what a statement tonight was in front of the fans, in front of the Sky
00:05 cameras, in front of League One beating Bolton 2-0. Yeah, all of those things
00:10 really and you know we want to make sure that we don't get too carried away
00:16 with what we've done tonight but part of me wants us to realise the fact that
00:20 we've played that well and we've got rewards against one of the best sides in
00:24 the league definitely and you know if we do that we can recount them we're gonna
00:27 have a real chance this year so overall really really pleased with everything
00:32 that we've done tonight there was a huge amount of pressure I think coming into
00:35 the game and you know we we didn't do so well we didn't perform particularly well
00:40 when we were at last playing at Faton Park and so to bounce back with the two
00:44 away victories and this tonight yeah I'm delighted for the boys. Other than
00:48 improbable miss by Dion Charles you were very comfortable with the back weren't you?
00:52 I thought so I thought the the first half was really well contested, Bolton
00:56 caused us a couple of problems I think Magoma was the bright spark and you know
01:02 he did cause us a couple of issues Dion Charles missing from the yard is a
01:06 nice bonus for us he's not going to do that too many times a season but I
01:09 thought it was about right that we went into half-time a goal up the amount of
01:12 opportunities that we had obviously one cleared off the line at one end one
01:17 where I think Cassini was through well he could have squared it back to Robbo
01:20 and he slipped and he was completely free in the middle of the box and just a
01:24 couple of other opportunities we had but a well contested game in the first
01:27 half second half I thought we were magnificent Will was largely a spectator
01:31 and we pressed we won the ball back we kept going at them we kept going we kept
01:37 going and yeah the only criticism I would have which is really picky is that
01:40 we didn't take advantage of a few of those opportunities and turn them into
01:42 chances the one time we did have a bit of quality in the final third we ended up
01:46 scoring the second goal. You still scored that second goal so we're
01:50 used to nerves because it would have gone very nervy for seven minutes time
01:52 definitely if you look at the if you look at the changes that Bolton made
01:58 they brought I think Morley and Dempsey on in the middle of the park two
02:01 midfielders who walk into any league one so I'm not saying we don't have a
02:04 strong squad as well by the way but we've just got to be aware of those sort
02:08 of things when they do make the changes and you know even being able to
02:12 bring Adebayo on up front there we have to make sure we're switched on to the
02:17 very last minute so the second goal I thought just took the sting out of
02:20 anything that could have potentially come in the last seven seven and a half
02:23 eight minutes and it was you know it's never very it's never comfortable you're
02:27 never actually comfortable until the final whistle but I think when we look
02:29 back on it it was it was it's gonna be one of those where we were very very
02:33 solid and we didn't concede anything. You acknowledge that Bolton are one of the
02:36 best sides in division you've beaten them so how good are you?
02:40 We're as good as where we finish up this this season at the moment we're
02:43 obviously top of the league I'm delighted with the performance that the
02:46 boys have put in and we have to go and back that up we've got to go and back it
02:49 up at Shrewsbury on Saturday it's going to be very very different we're not
02:52 going to have the raucous atmosphere that we produced tonight at Fratton yeah
02:56 we've got to motivate ourselves in a different way the one thing I would say
02:59 about this group is that whenever they've been asked that question they've
03:02 done it they haven't relied on the the crowd at Fratton solely to pick up
03:07 points because we've done it away from home and I know that they're going to be
03:11 very very professional about how they go about and do their business and you
03:14 know ultimately how good we are as a side will be determined you know where
03:18 we finish in April. Was this your toughest test so far this season would
03:21 you say? I think I felt that probably going into the game and Bolton are on a
03:26 magnificent run they've got seven past teams they're dominating games for the
03:32 most part and they've got a huge amount of attacking firepower so yeah certainly
03:36 one of the toughest tests there are a couple of other sides I think Peterborough
03:40 are really really strong in this league as well so there's there's a lot I think
03:44 to take from this game in terms of how we nullified them especially in the
03:47 second half. Thank you.
