00:00Thank you, South East Cornwall. Thank you for putting your trust in me and in a changed
00:22Labour Party to rebuild our country and deliver the fresh start that South East Cornwall needs.
00:31I'd like to thank the returning officer, the election team at Cornwall Council and all
00:36the people counselling here for the vital work that you do. And I also wish to thank
00:40my incredible campaign team and my agents. Together we have run a fantastic, positive
00:49campaign. I'd like to pay a heartfelt tribute to my fellow candidates, especially Cheryl
00:56Murray, who has served this constituency for 14 years. And politics is not always easy.
01:04And although we may disagree about the ways to deliver improvements, we're each trying
01:10to make things better for the people and the communities that we care about. And to my family,
01:16including those who are no longer with us, your support has enabled me to rise to the
01:22challenge of being a candidate. And I know it will do the same when I'm in a place.
01:28Finally, the most important thank you is to the wonderful people of South East Cornwall
01:33who have put their trust in me. I know there are many, many people who have voted Labour
01:38for the first time at this election, and many of you have lent me your vote. So my message to you
01:46is I will do everything I can to deliver the change that you've voted for. You've told me
01:53that you want better transport links, more teachers, and to fix the housing crisis.
02:00You've told me that we must end the cost of living crisis and create jobs in industries
02:06like Cornish Renewables. And you've told me that we must get the NHS back on its feet.
02:12I will not let you down. Today we make history with our first ever Labour MP.
02:26I will spend every day fighting for our fair share, the fair share that you deserve.
02:33The Labour government is realistic about the scale of the national challenges that we face,
02:39and the practical first steps that we will take to fix them. Whether you live in a town
02:46or a village, make a living on a farm, from the sea, or in an office,
02:52I will represent each of you and be the fresh star here. The hard work starts now. I promise
03:01to work tirelessly in your interests and represent the entire community in Westminster.
03:07The work for change begins today.
