00:04have been instructed to face the accusations

00:09up to the issue of extrajudicial killings

00:13after being arrested for issuing a warrant of arrest by the ICC.

00:17This is the national news of Daniel Manalastas of PTV Manila.

00:23For the former Senator Laila de Lima,

00:25who was once imprisoned during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte,

00:30it is entirely personal for her to speak after the former President was arrested

00:35and issued a warrant by the International Criminal Court.

00:38Now is the time for the former President to answer,

00:41not to her but to the victims and their families.

00:45This is deeply personal for me.

00:48For almost seven years, I was imprisoned on fabricated charges,

00:53accused of crimes I did not commit,

00:56all because I dared to speak out against Duterte's drug war.

01:01To those who have fought this long and difficult fight,

01:05your voices mattered.

01:07Your courage mattered.

01:09And today, the pursuit of justice continues.

01:14Former Senator Antonio Trillanes

01:17recalled in 2017 that Magdalo filed a case in the ICC against Duterte.

01:23And after eight years, finally,

01:26the accused Verdugo was arrested.

01:28For Senator Risa Honteveros,

01:31the day has come that the families of thousands of Filipinos are waiting

01:35for the accused to be killed in the bloody fight of the former President.

01:39But this is just the beginning of the pursuit of justice

01:42for all officials and government officials

01:45responsible for the killing of innocent and unarmed people.

01:50Senate President Pro Tempore Gingoy Estrada

01:54called on Filipinos to remain calm while the legal process is underway.

01:59He said to avoid joining any violence,

02:02spreading misinformation,

02:04and any steps that would aggravate the situation.

02:08Some congressmen insisted that the arrest of Duterte

02:11is just a proof that no one is above the law.

02:16The world is round.

02:18And sooner or later, we'll all have to face justice, face the music.
