00:00Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. continues to provide the administration with extensive benefits to the Filipinos.

00:07And today is a special day for our grandparents who are beneficiaries of the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2024.

00:17Their gift to President Alamin is in the newsroom of Kenneth Paciente.

00:24No senior citizen will be left behind.

00:28That is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. promised

00:31along with the distribution of the cash gift to the elderly.

00:35The President himself awarded the cash grant to the beneficiaries of the Republic Act No. 11982

00:41or the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2024,

00:45of which 14 beneficiaries were awarded the cash gift,

00:48including three 80-year-olds and three 85-year-olds.

00:52Five 90-year-olds received P10,000.

00:56While the three 100-year-olds received P100,000.

01:01According to the President, this is just a way for the government to recognize the contribution of the elderly

01:07that he became a guide and mentor to many on how to live.

01:11They are our supporters.

01:14They are the ones who brought us into and to understand how to deal with the world

01:21and how to deal with life.

01:23And for that, we will all be eternally grateful.

01:27That is why every line on your skin and every strand of hair is a part of the branch that holds our history.

01:39Fellow countrymen, we are here today to give glory to our elders.

01:45The President also awarded the privileges that senior citizens can receive,

01:50including discounts on the payment of water and electricity,

01:53as well as medicines and other necessities.

01:56However, he insisted that there are still many things that need to be done for senior citizens

02:01that the government is already doing.

02:04Including social pension, residential care facilities of the DSWD,

02:09and other programs and projects of the National Commission of Senior Citizens.

02:13In the new Philippines, we aspire to give life to our elders with dignity and dignity.

02:20They deserve nothing less than our love, our care, our protection, our respect, and our honor.

02:29That is why we are doing our best to improve the condition of our senior citizens.

02:36The Chief Executive also asked the families of senior citizens to be kind.

02:42To the families of our elders,

02:45give them every moment that they are with you.

02:50Show them compassion because the time will come

02:54when you will also find respect and kindness from your children.

03:00For our young people,

03:03you are the ones who will contribute to the continuation of the knowledge that our ancestors taught us.

03:11Use it to build a brighter future.

03:20Some senior citizens were pleased to learn about this from the government.

03:25I can buy my medicine,

03:29some food,

03:31and share it with my grandchildren.

03:37Most welcome, because it's the first time I've experienced this.

03:42And for my age, it's a great help.

03:45Do you have any plans where you will use this?

03:48Well, so many things to spend for.

03:52You know now, everything is going up.

03:55In the end, the President urged the senior citizens not to think that they are no longer important to the society.

04:01Today, 1,079 beneficiaries were given the so-called cash gift throughout the country,

04:07which is worth Php 12,050,000.

04:11But the target of the program this year is to reach more than 275,000 beneficiaries,

04:17of which Php 2.9 billion will be distributed.
