00:00Philippines and Palau strengthened their cooperation in the business sector,

00:05in order to build connectivity and a better society.

00:20Actually, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was saddened by the visit of Palau President Sir Angel Whips Jr. today.

00:30This was Whips' first visit to the Philippines,

00:33which was a part of his two-day official visit to the country.

00:37The President of the Republic of Palau was honored

00:41by the wreath-laying ceremony at Riza's Monument in Luneta.

00:46He was also warmly welcomed in a welcome ceremony in Malacanang.

00:50The two leaders discussed the expansion of the existing cooperation between the Philippines and Palau

00:57in the business sector, in order to build connectivity and a better society.

01:04They also discussed the improvement of the South-to-South Cooperation,

01:09the regional talks, and to establish advocacy in the business sector.

01:14Because of this, some of the agreements were strengthened,

01:17including cooperation in the business sector,

01:20consultation with the police,

01:22and improvement in the skills of the workers.

01:26I reaffirm the Philippines' commitment to working closely with Pacific nations

01:30in charting the future of the Pacific,

01:32and our unyielding support to efforts to advance the resilience of our Pacific kin,

01:38which at the heart of the Philippine-Pacific Initiative that we launched last year.

01:45On maritime cooperation, we committed to continue our dialogue on maritime boundary delimitation.

01:52We have also discussed the framework of our fisheries cooperation

01:57to improve our fishing and aquaculture sectors

02:00through the sharing of best practices and technologies.

02:03Capacity building initiatives as well,

02:06development of fisheries infrastructure,

02:09cooperation for the international market compliance.

02:12It is important that more than 3,000 to 4,000 Filipinos live and work in Palau,

02:20which accounts for almost 17% of the country's population.

02:25In 2027, the Philippines and Palau celebrated the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship.
