00:00Puja Jaya does not plan to proceed with the controversial Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline project,
00:06which was scrapped by the Pakatan Harapan administration in 2018 and then revived by
00:11the Perikatan Nasional-led government three years later.
00:14Economy Minister Rafizieh Ramli said the government decided not to proceed with the project since
00:19it had agreed to hand over Sabah's gas supply regulatory power to the state government on
00:24January 10, 2023.
00:27In a written parliamentary reply, Rafizieh said the government decided to cancel the
00:31TSGP project on September 5, 2018.
00:35In line with this decision, the supply of domestic natural gas from Sabah initially
00:39allocated for the TSGP was redistributed to meet the demand of other strategic sectors.
00:46He said, therefore, the government does not intend on continuing with implementing the
00:50TSGP project in the future.
00:53The minister also pointed out that the regulatory authority over Sabah's electricity supply
00:58had been handed to the state government on January 3 last year.
01:02Rafizieh was replying to Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin, who asked if the government
01:07planned to carry out the project to help Sabah overcome its electricity supply woes, particularly
01:12on the state's east coast.
