00:00Is Emmanuel Macron's gamble starting to pay off after organising two emergency summits
00:13in Paris this week with EU nations and NATO member states to come up with a united front
00:19to the lightning rapprochement between Moscow and the US?
00:22Well, it looks like Europe is finally invited to the negotiating table.
00:27Just after the second emergency meeting in Paris this Wednesday, US President Donald
00:33Trump's national security adviser, Mike Waltz, announced that both Macron and British Prime
00:38Minister Keir Starmer will be invited to the White House next week.
00:43One of the main fears today is that Trump could reach an agreement with Russia that
00:47would work against the security interests of both Ukraine and the EU.
00:52But other than the general consensus that Russia is a threat, well, the 27th bloc is
00:57still deeply divided on how to respond to this, especially when it comes to whether
01:02or not to send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine.
01:06However, the French President announced on his ex-account, former Twitter, that decisions
01:12concerning European security will be taken in the coming days and weeks, stating that
01:17the 27th bloc is convinced of the need to increase the defence and security spending
01:23and capabilities of Europe.
