00:00Poland's former defence minister has been charged by prosecutors after publishing government
00:07contingency plans in the case of a Russian invasion.
00:11Mariusz Blaszczak, who served in the Conservative Law and Justice Party that held power between
00:162015 and 2023, revealed a military defence plan that had been drawn up in 2011 in the
00:22case of a Russian invasion.
00:25That document laid out plans for Polish forces to retreat westward to the Vistula River in
00:29the case of an attack from the east.
00:32Prosecutors allege Blaszczak exceeded his powers by publishing the information, which
00:37they say was classified.
00:39However, Blaszczak said he had a duty to share the plans and would do it again without hesitation.
00:47The charges against Blaszczak are the latest in a string of legal troubles for members
00:52of the Law and Justice Party, with the former MP arrested only last week on corruption charges.
