The mother of a murdered teenager has said her son's legacy will save lives after the government introduced plans to crack down on knife crime in his name. The so-called Ronan's Law, named after Ronan Kanda, a 16-year-old who was murdered on the street in 2022, includes tougher sentences for people selling illegal knives online. Pooja Kanda said she wished the laws saved her child.

00:00Ronan Legacy couldn't save Ronan but it will save other children and that's what's
00:06important in it. I wish it was for my child, I wish it did save Ronan and I
00:11wish these things were implemented a long time ago. The barriers are quite
00:16strong barriers and I'm not saying that it will 100% go, it will hopefully save
00:23other children.
