00:00Vice President Sara Duterte went to the Supreme Court to stop the impeachment trial against her and to declare that there is no visa for the complaint of impeachment of the Camera.

00:12Based on the petition, while her lawyer was standing, former President Rodrigo Duterte appeared.

00:19Salima Refran was there.

00:21Vice President Sara Duterte asked the Supreme Court to issue an order to declare that there is no visa for the impeachment complaint against her of the Camera.

00:34She argued that there was grave abuse of discretion of the Camera.

00:38She asked the Supreme Court to enforce the Constitution that there cannot be more than one impeachment proceeding against an official within a year.

00:48On February 5, Vice President Duterte was impeached.

00:52Based on the petition, the Camera filed a one-year ban on the four impeachment complaints filed in February,

01:00while the other three impeachment complaints were filed in December.

01:05This is so that the Camera will be able to gather enough signatures before the election of 2025 because the composition of the Camera will change.

01:14Based on the petition, the Supreme Court will need to clarify if the simple violation of the complaint will be counted as an impeachment proceeding.

01:23It was also mentioned in the petition that the impeachment that Vice President Duterte will be disqualified for the rest of her life for holding any position in the government.

01:33That is why Duterte asked the Supreme Court to stop all respondents who will conduct impeachment trial against her

01:40through TRO or Temporary Restraining Order or Writ of Preliminary Induction.

01:46Respondents in the petition were the Camera, led by Speaker Martin Romualdez,

01:51its Secretary General, and the Senate led by Senate President Cheese Escudero.

01:57As for the lawyers of Vice President Duterte who signed the petition,

02:04she will only receive her Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Exemption one day before filing the petition to the Supreme Court.

02:12It is one of the requirements for the continued practice as a lawyer.

02:16Even though the petition was filed before the on-bank session,

02:19according to the Supreme Court, the petition of Vice President Duterte was no longer included in the agenda of the magistrates.

02:24There is also another petition that requests to stop the impeachment trial.

02:29It is expected that the petitions will be raffled first before being included in the agenda of the next on-bank session.
