00:00Presidential son and congressman Sandro Marcos denied that he filed the 4th impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
00:11But he should not be surprised if he was the first to sign the complaint because of the heavy statements of the vice president against his family.
00:22Ian Cruz is on the case.
00:24His signature is the first on the list of lawmakers who supported the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
00:34But the presidential son and House Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos said, is that surprising?
00:42As to why I was the first one to sign,
00:44if a person wants to insult your grandfather and throw his body in the West Philippine Sea,
00:52if he wants to kill the president and first lady of my parents,
00:57and if he wants to kill the speaker,
00:59why would a person be surprised that I will sign there?
01:02These are statements that can't be taken lightly, especially from someone with such a high position.
01:10So, I'm wondering why people are surprised.
01:14President Marcos said earlier that he is asking for permission from his son-in-law,
01:18and he is asking him to do his job as a lawmaker.
01:24However, Vice President Duterte denied that he filed the so-called assassination attempt against the president, first lady, and house speaker.
01:33Congressman Marcos said,
01:36I think we know the truth to that, so let's just leave it at that.
01:39Even though he signed the 4th impeachment complaint, he denied that he filed it.
01:44Like what the president said, I think people give me too much credit.
01:48I was given the opportunity to sign, and I did sign, but I did not spearhead any movement,
01:55or I did not try to convince anyone to sign. I think they did that on their own volition.
02:02In the meantime, there was no change in the signatures of the lawmakers on the impeachment complaint.
02:07That was part of their smear campaign to discredit the movement.
02:11You can't blame them. We know who their boss is.
02:15But no, there was nothing offered in exchange for the signatures.
02:20I was there in the room. The articles of impeachment were really discussed,
02:24and then people were given the choice to sign or not.
02:28Whether there was any exchange, or any monetary offer,
02:31or any, they say, exchange, nothing like that.
02:37Nothing like that was given.
02:39According to the Senate,
02:41they will decide in June when the impeachment court will convene, said Congressman Marcos.
02:48Well, that's their choice.
02:53If they don't have an opinion of the 245 lawmakers,
03:02and the various groups that they think need to be impeached,
03:10that's their choice.
03:14If they don't want to give it importance, then let them not give it importance.
03:18But given the numbers, to us, it's important.
03:22For GMA Integrated News, Ian Cruz, Catuto.
03:2524 Hours.
