00:00Today, the Department of Social Welfare and Development launched the Angels Pets Program in Mandaluyong.
00:08Noel Talacay was at the center of the news live.
00:14Aljo, I'm here at the Sanctuary Center, a facility of the DSWD here in Mandaluyong City,
00:23where they re-launched their program, Angels Pets Program.
00:30Eight trained dogs from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, or POWS,
00:35will help the patients in the DSWD Sanctuary Center of Mandaluyong City recover.
00:42They will serve the patients in session therapy.
00:48This is the first program of the DSWD where the trained dogs are included, and it is called Angels Pets.
00:55In addition to the sanctuary center, Angels Pets was also launched in another facility of the DSWD in Marilac Hills, Alabang.
01:04The dogs will undergo an animal assistance therapy session,
01:08including the abandoned women, neglected, abused, victims of harassment,
01:14children's conflict with the law, and those with psychosocial disabilities.
01:18Angels Pets Program is part of the 74th anniversary of the DSWD, or POWS.
01:27Yesterday, we were showing the automated side of things.
01:32Now, we're showing the heart side of it, the emotional side of it.
01:36Not just automation, not just digitalization.
01:39Here in the department, we also look into the kindness factor.
01:47We're excited because this is a one-of-its-kind program in the Philippines.
01:51Like what Ataniana and Eusebio said, now we can actually measure the impact.
01:57Hopefully, when we do get the impact after six months, we can expand the program.
02:03At DSWD Ataniana, we are more than ready to help you expand it,
02:09help you reach more clients, not just in our own care facilities, but in the other care facilities.
02:15That will need your doctor's dogs.
02:18ALJO, the Sanctuary Center, takes care of women who are over 18 years old.
02:26They have psychosocial disabilities.
02:30In Marilac Hills, they take care of women who are 7 years old to 17 years old,
02:37who have been abused, who have been victims of harassment, human trafficking,
02:42and who have conflicts with the law.
02:45All of them have been abandoned by their families.
02:48This program, ALJO, will be studied by DSWD for six months.
02:53If the results are positive, it will be implemented in all DSWD care facilities across the country.
03:01ALJO.
03:02Thank you very much, Noel Talacay.
