00:00Local government units play an important role in starting healthy conversations on mental health and eliminating the stigma of seeking professional help.
00:09This is what a local government unit in Cavite proved.
00:12For the details, here's Patricia Bermudez from the Philippine Information Agency, Calabarzon.
00:19The Department of Health in Calabarzon has been encouraging local government units to establish holistic health programs in accordance with the Philippine Mental Health Act.
00:28This aims to protect patients against any form of discrimination and provide access to various health interventions and assistance from the country's health system.
00:37Under the Philippine Mental Health Act, local government units are required to allocate funds in providing inclusive mental health programs,
00:45including the creation of a mental health task force that would help address issues in their community concerning mental health.
00:52In Cavite, Carmona City will soon expand its mental health program with the launch of an LED mobile to bring parents the right information on mental health and encourage treatment-seeking behavior from their constituents.
01:22With consultation and prescription drugs getting more expensive by the day, the city hired psychiatrists to augment its city health office in addressing their constituents' mental health.
01:38If there used to be a stigma surrounding mental health issues, the DOH and the Carmona City LGU have proven that there are solutions to the challenges being faced.
02:00One only needs to be open to the assistance and interventions offered by the community.
02:05From the Philippine International Agency, Calabarzon, Patricia Bermudez, Balita, Pampansa.
