00:00The release of rice by the National Food Authority under the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency has already started.

00:09And it's not only the voters who have a say in this, but also the farmers.

00:19The Department of Agriculture has already turned over to several local government units the rice of the National Food Authority

00:26through the Food Terminal Incorporated.

00:29Aside from food security, it also aims to expand the NFA warehouses

00:34to allow local farmers to enter.

00:38These are the bags of NFA rice that were released to the local government units

00:43that showed their interest in getting NFA rice

00:47following the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency on rice.

00:51At present, 67 LGUs have already reached out to the FDI to become NFA rice distributors.

00:58The initial withdrawal of NFA rice from the warehouse in Valenzuela was 1,000 sacks.

01:02NFA rice is sold for P33 per kilo to LGUs

01:06while it can be sold by LGUs, government agencies, and GOCs to buyers for up to P35 per kilo.

01:14The local government of San Juan City and Camarines Sur decided

01:18that they will no longer allocate P2 for logistics expenses.

01:22Therefore, they will continue to sell rice for P3 per kilo to the public.

01:26The NFA rice will be rolled out to the so-called LGUs on Monday.

01:30The DA will allow the reselling of NFA rice

01:33but it should be sold for P33 per kilo for up to P2 per kilo.

01:38The LGUs will issue guidelines for this.

01:41The target is to sell 150 metric tons of NFA rice to the DA within six months.

01:46Aside from this, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

01:50passed a large fund to buy rice from local farmers.

01:54According to the NFA Council,

01:56we will buy rice this year, 2025, for a minimum of P23 per kilo

02:02and it can reach P30 per kilo depending on the market.

02:07Our beloved President, President Bongbong Marcos,

02:11also asked for P9 billion so that we can buy rice from our farmers.

02:17This is an additional fund since last year.

02:20The campaign period in March for the upcoming election is already on schedule.

02:24The DA is already coordinating with Comilec

02:26so that LGUs can apply for Comilec exemptions for the sale of NFA rice.

02:31Metro Manila Council and Camarines Sur LGU assured

02:34that they will not use cheap NFA rice for politics.

02:38Meanwhile, DA Secretary Francisco T. Laurel, Jr. clarified

02:42that the book that was found in Kadiwa Store in Kelson City is an isolated case.

02:47The selling was halted because the next day,

02:50we saw a small amount of rice, right?

02:52But then, we did not know, we investigated

02:55why the sale was continued when it was actually stopped.

02:59The DA will be more strict in monitoring the rice being sold

03:03following the incident.
