00:00The Food and Drug Administration is just waiting for approval to use the Q-Dengue vaccine,
00:06which is one of the ways to reduce the number of dengue cases in the country.
00:11BN Manalo of PTV in the national news.
00:16After the controversial use of the dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia, in 2017,
00:22the Philippine Medical Association believes that the Philippines is ready again
00:27to release a new vaccine against dengue.
00:31Especially now that the number of dengue cases is increasing in different parts of the Philippines.
00:36According to Health Secretary Ted Herbosa,
00:38the 2nd Generation Dengue Vaccine, Q-Denga, has already applied for a Certificate of Product Registration or CPR
00:42from the Food and Drug Administration.
00:47This is a Japan-based Takeda Pharmaceuticals
00:50and is just waiting for its license to be approved for use.
00:55It's been a long time, since 2016, since 70 years ago, if it's possible to have a vaccine.
01:02We need at least 5 years to see the impact.
01:05That's what the WHO said, it's not just a rumor.
01:09There's a seasonal variation of dengue.
01:11It takes time, you will need to see the surveillance.
01:14Some doctors' groups in the FDA called for approval of the Q-Denga license
01:20because of the increase in the number of dengue cases in the country.
01:23But according to Herbosa,
01:24vector control is still the best solution for dengue whenever it rains.
01:29The PMA did not stop the loss of fish as a solution for dengue.
01:35Another barangay in QC is considering
01:38to spread fish in rivers and vacant lots.
01:42So far, in the studies or researches and publications recent on dengue,
01:48there's still no solution.
01:50The medical experts called for an effective solution
01:55to the increasing number of dengue cases in the country.
01:58Because of this, the Philippine Medical Association launched
02:02the End Dengue Coalition or Empowering Networks to Defeat Dengue Coalition
02:07formed by medical societies.
02:09This is a support to the target of the World Health Organization
02:13to reduce the number of dengue cases and zero deaths in 2030 by 50%.
02:19We will work together and listen to our fellow countrymen
02:24who supported End Dengue,
02:28meaning Empowering Networks to Defeat Dengue.
02:32The media also played an important role
02:34in the information dissemination in the fight against dengue.
02:39From PTV4 Manila, BN Manalo, Balitang Pambansa.
