00:21where certain peers lean differently on policies and how to lobby for constitutional change.

00:29Jean also said young people should be exposed to opportunities beyond merely being used

00:35as political machinery in their party's youth wing.

00:39She was responding to Subang MP Wong Chen, who recently advised the younger generation

00:45against rushing into politics, citing a lack of reliable role models in Malaysia's political

00:51sphere.

00:54Wong suggested that young people instead spend their early adult years building their careers

01:00before going into politics.

01:02Borneo Conrad coordinator Mukmin Nantang said aspiring young leaders might lose their sense

01:09of purpose in the absence of positive role models in their parties.

01:14Meanwhile, Undi18 co-founder Tharma Pillay insisted that young voters be given direct

01:21representation in policy-making as over half the electorate is below 40 years old.
