00:00What is the role of the University of Perugia?
00:04Well, it is a great responsibility and also a great emotion,
00:08because in recent years I have contributed to the growth,
00:15to the dissemination of good practices within the network of the University of Perugia Sustainable Group,
00:21which today is a very large and mature reality,
00:25with the contribution of 88 Italian universities,
00:31which are committed to improve their own sustainability
00:36and to spread the culture of sustainable development to 360 degrees in Italian society.
00:41Unibs has this important responsibility
00:46precisely because for many years it has been committed profusely
00:52to pay attention at the national and international level in the challenge for sustainable development.
00:58In collaboration with many Italian athenae,
01:02the University of Brescia sees a decade-long commitment
01:09and for the next triennium it will be committed to give a concrete follow-up,
01:16especially attention to the developments, to the concrete transformations of Italian society.
01:23For the University of Brescia it is a great honor
01:26and for the city of Brescia it is a very precious opportunity
01:30to assume a national and international level of responsibility
01:37that can also give a stroke to the economic, social and cultural fabric of the city.
01:45The spirit will be that of a perspective of collaboration and concreteness
01:51between the athenae, between the sub-regional networks in which we have articulated the university network
02:00and then in comparison and involvement with the university community in a broad sense.
02:07So the hundreds of thousands of students who come to our universities every day,
02:14the teacher-researcher staff, the technical-administrative staff,
02:18a core effort that aims above all to further reduce,
02:23and therefore intensify the efforts for the reduction of the ecological footprint of our universities
02:30and then the promotion of the culture of sustainable development on the territories.
02:35We are already making a fundamental contribution to the transformation,
02:40to the ecological transition in many dimensions of our society and our economy.
02:46My intention is to enhance this commitment, these efforts,
02:51as I said at the beginning, in a perspective of collaboration,
02:54also inter-institutional, with government bodies, with local public administrations,
03:01to ensure that these efforts are crowned with success and see an acceleration whenever necessary.
