00:00We spoke we were getting ready for Super Bowl 59. The
00:04Philadelphia Eagles trying to stop the Kansas City Chiefs from
00:08three peating. And boy did they 40 to 22 and it was not even
00:14that close the slight underdog Philadelphia Eagles dominated
00:18from the jump. This was 24 nothing at half a few
00:22interceptions from Pat Mahomes saw him play the worst first
00:27half of his career, a 34 nothing score as the result of
00:32an Avanta Smith dagger shot from Jalen hurts at around midfield.
00:36And there was no doubt to be had that the Eagles were going to
00:40win the Super Bowl. Mahomes and the lead offense did stay out
00:45there and found some statistics. It wasn't stat padding, but it
00:48was garbage time Eagles had their backups in. And we saw the
00:53Eagles finish off an incredibly dominant season Donnie and win
00:57their second Lombardi trophy. Yeah, pretty incredible the way
01:00this game played out. Now granted, I did have the
01:02Philadelphia Eagles by double digits. But you see that 40 to
01:0422 final score. It wasn't even that close. It was 40 to six at
01:08one point late with about three minutes to go. And it was even
01:11worse in the first half. If you would have told me before the
01:13game Jalen hurts was going to play well, I would have felt
01:15like yeah, that's what the expectations are a QBR rating
01:18of 75 for that game. But Patrick Mahomes QBR rating for the
01:21Super Bowl in 11. Never did I think that was going to happen
01:25in a big moment like that. And why the Eagles defense which was
01:28number one all season long at the Vic Fangio and the worry was
01:31you give Andy Reid two weeks to prepare what's going to happen.
01:34Typically you come up with aces and in this one they came up
01:37Joe with who got about that this game was one in the trenches
01:41dominant offense and defensive line effort. We talked about how
01:45much quarterback pressures and sacks they got in terms of the
01:47front seven for the Philadelphia Eagles. They dictated the tempo
01:51from start to finish. And the biggest thing for me is that
01:54once they jumped up 10 nothing in the first quarter it was
01:56lights out they never looked back they built a 34 nothing
02:00third quarter lead to your point it was garbage time in the second
02:04half the turnovers Pat Mahomes look mortal. The two turnovers
02:07the critical interceptions by Zach Bonner more importantly
02:11Cooper Dejean to take it to the house really set the tone and
02:15from that point on start to finish complete dominance best
02:18team in the NFL we talked about in the pregame and they showed
02:22out on Sunday yeah I think getting the you know we're gonna
02:25expand on this game certainly and we'll talk about how the
02:28Eagles did this the signs that some of us saw from Philadelphia
02:32where we felt that them winning the Super Bowl was how this
02:35season would end and what it means for this team historically
02:39if anybody now agrees with what I was kind of saying in the lead
02:42up to the game that they were going to be viewed as one of the
02:44best teams in the history of this league but also what
02:48happened to Kansas City you know Lee you said Lee see my
02:51homes look mortal no he looked awful he would have killed to
02:55look mortal in that football game it was as bad as he's ever
02:58played and these two know that I will now be just throwing
03:03statistic over statistic at them that initially understandably
03:06everybody he wins score 32 if he needs to score 32 he'll score
03:1135 if that's what they need well they needed him to do
03:14anything anything in this game and he couldn't and this is why
03:20this Super Bowl is as much about the excellence of
03:24Philadelphia and how terrible this Chiefs football team
03:29specifically on offense looked with 2 minutes and 31 seconds to
03:33go my homes had 61 yards no touchdowns two picks Donnie I
03:41believe I don't know if it was Eagle fan or Chiefs fans there
03:44were chants for Carson Wentz in the Superdome. Yeah and also
03:47you didn't even think he would even come out for like what
03:49eight or 7 minutes left to go in the fourth quarter where he
03:51was really able to pad his stats but it was just amazing
03:53to see it's something we don't see that often the times where
03:56Patrick Holmes looks bad maybe a couple Super Bowls ago
03:58against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a ferocious pass rush and
04:01then you saw the Philadelphia Eagles with a ferocious pass
04:03rush understand this there's one thing between a pass rush and
04:06a blitz where you have to sell out to get pressure on the
04:08quarterback. The Eagles didn't blitz one time in the Super
04:10Bowl and absolutely got home whenever they wanted to and it
04:13was apparent Patrick Holmes one of the best quarterbacks we've
04:16ever seen dropping back in the pocket worried about the front
04:18four here taking his eyes instead of downfield to the
04:21pass rush and that's a big issue and I always want to
04:23bring this up too because two years ago the Philadelphia
04:26Eagles have one of the best sack artist defenses in league
04:29history with the front four. They played on an ice skating
04:32rink. Imagine if it wasn't an ice skating rink would he have
04:35been talking about a three-peat at this point for Patrick
04:37Holmes and the Kansas City Chiefs, but you have to give
04:40credit to like Vic Fangio has been one of the best defensive
04:42coordinators in football for decades finally got his just do
04:45with the Super Bowl ring. He was spectacular Joe on Sunday
04:49made them completely one dimensional. They had no
04:51rushing attack. They had 45 rushing yards on the ground.
04:5425 of those are counted by Pat Mahomes scrambling. So you take
04:57that out of the equation. You're talking about less than
04:5930 yards rushing for the game and less than three yards per
05:03carry out of both of those running backs Kareem Hunt and
05:06Isaiah Pacheco three of 11 third down conversions. They
05:09were forced to play from behind and critical third downs. You
05:13become one dimensional. The offensive line breaks down. You
05:16talk about Williams Nolan Smith. You talk about sweat. All of
05:20those playmakers coming off the edge. Those two big bodies in
05:23terms of Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter to get a push up front
05:27collapse the pocket. That was the difference for the ball
05:30game. And again when you force turnovers and they when they
05:33had to run the football, they can run it whether it be Saquon
05:36was held in check for the most part, but you couldn't contain
05:39Jalen Hurts with 72 yards on the ground. They sustain drives
05:43and that's the recipe to winning big matchups to run the
05:46football, win the turnover battle, get quarterback
05:48pressures and they did that on Sunday.
