00:00And then I'll be back in the field.
00:02It's what you want?
00:04Yes, of course.
00:05It's not for everyone.
00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for drama and or thriller movies,
00:11fan theories that were confirmed by the film itself or were confirmed by the filmmakers.
00:16We can confirm there will be spoilers ahead, so this is your warning.
00:19You're probably wondering what's going on.
00:22There's no need to worry.
00:24Let's take a walk.
00:27Number seven, Tarantino's shared universe, Various.
00:29If you ever sit down and watch the films of Quentin Tarantino,
00:32you might start to recognize some recurring elements,
00:34such as Red Apple's Cigarettes, Big Kahuna Burger, and even characters with the same last name.
00:38Vincent Vega, Iron Man in Amsterdam.
00:41Jules Winfield, Iron Man in Inglewood.
00:43Get your asses out in here.
00:45Naturally, fans started to comment how these films must all be connected.
00:48In a 2017 interview, Tarantino confirmed that all of his movies are, in fact, part of a shared universe.
00:53There's actually two separate universes.
00:56There's the realer-than-real universe, all right, and all the characters inhabit that one.
01:04But then there's this movie universe.
01:07To be more precise, there are two universes, one dubbed the realer-than-real universe,
01:11featuring characters from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, etc.
01:14The other is the movie universe, consisting of movies like Kill Bill and From Dusk Till Dawn
01:18that characters from the realer universe would see.
01:21Before we stepped in here, you told all of us to be cool.
01:25That means you, too.
01:26Never said do what I do. I said do what I say.
01:29Number six, Oberhauser as Blofeld.
01:31Spectre.
01:32Ernst Stavro Blofeld was the main villain in early Bond film.
01:35Allow me to introduce myself.
01:39I am Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
01:44They told me you were assassinated in Hong Kong.
01:47Yes, this is my second life.
01:51You only live twice, Mr. Bond.
01:53He was the head of the organization Spectre that terrorized the world,
01:56and it's up to James Bond to save the day.
01:58However, due to a lengthy copyright case,
02:00the character and the Spectre organization disappeared from the franchise
02:03until the case was settled in 2006.
02:05Put me down! Put me down!
02:09At least you want to get out.
02:13Mr. Bond!
02:18So when the title of the 24th film of the series was revealed as Spectre
02:22and Christoph Waltz was announced as part of the cast,
02:24it didn't take long for people to start putting two and two together
02:27and surmise that Waltz's character, Franz Oberhauser, is Blofeld.
02:31Franz Oberhauser died 20 years ago, James,
02:34in an avalanche alongside his father.
02:38The man you're talking to now, the man inside your head,
02:43is Ernst Stafford Blofeld.
02:46Catch a name.
02:48Number 5. Unbreakable shared universe, Split.
02:51At first glance, it would seem Unbreakable and Split don't have much in common
02:54other than both being written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
02:57The Beast, he's coming for you.
03:01All three of you.
03:03Despite Split being about a man, Kevin, with 23 identities
03:06due to his dissociative identity disorder,
03:08fans couldn't help but notice that one of those identities could be superhuman.
03:11Do you really believe the stories about the Beast?
03:17It's hinted at in the trailer, and given Shyamalan is known for twist endings,
03:20speculation soon began to form that Split could be connected to Unbreakable.
03:24It would be confirmed to be the case at the end of the movie
03:26when Bruce Willis' character, David Dunn, appears.
03:29Is this like that crazy guy in the wheelchair that gave me away 15 years ago?
03:34And he gave him a funny name, too.
03:37What was it?
03:40Mr. Glass.
03:41Number four, Eve as Moneypenny, Skyfall.
03:43When the Bond franchise was rebooted with 2006's Casino Royale,
03:47characters like Moneypenny and Q were nowhere to be found.
03:50You noticed?
03:51By the time Skyfall is announced and the cast is revealed,
03:53actress Naomi Harris was set to play Eve, an MI6 agent who works with Bond.
03:58Almost immediately, people started speculating that Eve was, in fact, Moneypenny.
04:01I've been reassigned.
04:03Temporary suspension from field work.
04:05Really?
04:06Mm. Something to do with killing 007.
04:09Well, you gave it your best shot.
04:11It was hardly my best shot.
04:13Not sure I can survive your best.
04:15Doubt you'll get the chance.
04:17Of course, Harris, for her part, denied that she would be portraying the character.
04:20So imagine everyone's surprise once Skyfall is finally released
04:23and we find out that Eve's last name is Moneypenny
04:25and retires from field work, becoming a secretary by the film's end.
04:29You know, we've never formally been introduced.
04:33Oh.
04:35Well, my name's Eve.
04:37Eve Moneypenny.
04:39I look forward to our time together, Miss Moneypenny.
04:42Me, too.
04:43Number three, Simulation. Don't worry, darling.
04:46Cast-in fighting aside, as that's a different topic for a different day,
04:49many people were able to figure out the ending to this movie.
04:52To be honest, I've been out of it since we arrived.
04:55Yeah. Bill says it's the jet lag.
04:57Mm-hmm.
04:58It's all just been a bit of a blur.
05:00It appears to be set in the 1950s, and while it's common to romanticize the past,
05:03things were a little too idyllic here.
05:05You okay?
05:06No, I don't know. I'm not.
05:09I had a really weird dream.
05:13A really weird dream.
05:15Not to mention there's a lot of visual imagery to suggest
05:17that things aren't what they appear to be.
05:19It was really no surprise that once we get to the end of the film,
05:21it turns out that everything is a simulation.
05:23What do you think you know?
05:28Listen.
05:30I've always known.
05:35I chose this.
05:37Number two, Roy Lives, The Grifters.
05:39This neo-noir film centers around the lives of the three con artists,
05:43Roy, his mother Lily, and his girlfriend Mira.
05:45What am I doing here?
05:51You were bleeding inside, honey.
05:54Remember that bruise you had?
05:56You called the doctor, huh?
05:58Well, no, Roy.
06:01Your mother did.
06:03As you might guess, there's money and betrayal involved.
06:06The film ends with a confrontation between Roy and Lily over a stash of cash,
06:09and in the ensuing argument, Lily ends up killing Roy.
06:12No, no, no, no, no.
06:16As she drives off into the night, a man can be seen running across the street.
06:19Fans started to wonder if that's Roy, meaning he didn't actually die.
06:22When producer Martin Scorsese was asked if it was Roy,
06:25he responded with, sure, why not?
06:27Sure, that sounds nice.

06:45Number one, secret sequel, Get Out and Being John Malkovich.
06:48There are several fan theories surrounding Get Out,
06:51but the one more intriguing is the idea that the film is connected to being John Malkovich.
06:55With all due respect, I discovered that portal.
06:58I mean, it's my livelihood, do you understand?
07:00It's my head, Schwartz! It's my head!
07:05The two movies have similar plots in that it's possible to transfer your consciousness
07:08to take over another person's body.
07:10So you won't be gone, and not completely.
07:13A sliver of you will still be in there somewhere, limited consciousness.
07:17In John Malkovich, you can only really do it with the aforementioned John Malkovich,
07:21but by the time we get to Get Out, it's possible to take over anyone's body.
07:24When the theory was presented to Get Out director Jordan Peele,
07:27he loved it and said as far as he's concerned, it's true.
07:29This is crazy.

07:34You must be aware of all the fan theories that go on about your films.
07:38And one of them, which I reckon may be true, and I need you to confirm, is...
