00:00What the hell is that? Everyone's got a gimmick now.
00:03Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the most
00:08interesting MCU fan theories that ended up actually happening. Since we're putting on
00:13our tinfoil hats for this MCU deep dive, we'll also be getting into spoilers,
00:18so consider this your warning. Loki, look who it is!
00:24Number 20, Teen's Identity, Agatha All Along
00:27Ever since we found out about the Agatha spinoff show, many fans speculated on who
00:31Joe Locke's character would be. Marvel themselves kept that identity a mystery for a little bit too,
00:36by only having him be referred to as Teen in early episodes.
00:40Road is no place for a kid. I'm 16.
00:42Oh, sorry. Teen!
00:44But most people theorized that Teen was actually someone we've seen before. More specifically,
00:49that he was actually an older Billy Maximoff, one of the Scarlet Witch's sons, also known as Wiccan.
00:55To the delight of the viewers, this was EXACTLY the case.
00:58You're so much like your mother.
01:01Billy possessed the body of William Kaplan, and from there, the hijinks began.
01:05The inclusion of Wiccan wasn't just an exciting revelation,
01:09but also another potential obstacle for Agatha. But hey, life's a witch, ain't it?
01:14Number 19, Something's Rotten About The TVA, Loki
01:18What? You mean to tell me that the organization that systematically wipes out anybody who poses
01:24a threat to the so-called purity of the timeline isn't entirely benevolent?
01:28Now the timekeepers protect and preserve the proper flow of time for everyone and everything.
01:36But sometimes people like you veer off the path the timekeepers created.
01:41Shocking.
01:42Pretty early on, viewers suspected that something was seriously wrong with the TVA,
01:47and many further theorized that a Kang was the one calling the shots.
01:51This would be confirmed later when Loki and Sylvie discovered that the timekeepers
01:55were all just a sham created by He Who Remains.
01:58The MAJOR plot point also revealed that this variant of Kang was purposely puppeteering
02:03the destruction of countless realities in order to ensure the survival of his own sacred timeline.
02:21Yeah, that seems just a tad manipulative.
02:32Number 18, Wanda is the Villain, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
02:36As we approached the second Doctor Strange movie back in 2022,
02:40there was a good amount of discourse surrounding the Scarlet Witch's role in the film.
02:51WandaVision floated the idea of Wanda being more sinister than we thought.
02:59With that in mind, it seemed completely possible that her heel turn
03:03would be cemented in Multiverse of Madness.
03:06Sure enough, she ended up being the main villain.
03:09In spite of your hypocrisies and insults, I have begged you to safely get out of my way.
03:18You have exhausted my patience.
03:20Wanda murdered her way across worlds in a desperate attempt to bring her kids back to life.
03:25Predicting that she'd break bad wasn't inherently far fetched,
03:29but seeing it get proven was still pretty validating,
03:32especially for those who predicted it way back in 2019.
03:36Quite the magical foresight.
03:38Number 17, Sam is the new Captain America,
03:40Avengers Endgame, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
03:43Legacies can be a tricky thing.
03:45When we learned that Chris Evans would be concluding his time as Captain America,
03:49everyone wondered who'd be taking up the shield next.
03:55I'll do my best.
03:56Two prominent theories were that either Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson would become
03:59the new Captain America.
04:00Though they've both been capped in the comics, Sam seemed more likely.
04:04For perspective, Bucky was only capped for maybe a year while Sam is still capped in the comics.
04:10Endgame sowed the seeds for Sam stepping up when an elderly Steve Rogers gifted him the shield.
04:15Though he was reluctant to accept it,
04:17he'd finally become Captain America at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
04:21You of all people bought into that bullshit.
04:23I'm trying something different. Maybe you should do the same.
04:26That's one serious promotion.
04:28Number 16, enter the Ronin, Avengers Endgame.
04:31Thanos' decimation of half of all life had serious ramifications for all of the MCU,
04:37and that included Hawkeye.
04:38Good job, Hawkeye.
04:39When the Avenger was notably absent during Infinity War,
04:43fans assumed he'd come back in a big way for Endgame.
04:46A popular theory was that he would ditch his Hawkeye costume for one of his other aliases,
04:51the Ronin.
04:52Another part of the theory suggested that it'd be because of his family
04:55getting wiped out during the blip.
04:56This came true in Endgame, and we were treated to a more vicious Clint Barton than before.
05:02It's just a shame we never saw the true extent of Ronin's brutality,
05:18apart from a few scenes in Endgame and the Hawkeye show.
05:22Oh well.
05:23Number 15, the Doctor is on the way, Captain America, the Winter Soldier.
05:27As Captain America and Black Widow interrogate Jasper Sitwell,
05:30in order to find out more about a mass surveillance program called Project Insight,
05:35some seriously startling revelations are made.
05:37Zola's algorithm is a program for choosing Insight's target.
05:43The secret HYDRA informant lets it slip that the project is a way to keep tabs on
05:48any individuals that might pose a threat to the evil organization.
05:51Among the many people of interest are Steve Rogers himself, Bruce Banner, and Stephen Strange.
05:58That last name drop in particular got everyone excited.
06:14Fans naturally theorized that Doctor Strange would soon enter the fold.
06:18The MCU having Doctor Strange sounds like a no-brainer,
06:21but since his movie and casting hadn't been announced yet,
06:24the possibilities for where he could show up were endless.
06:28Number 14, Loki's Tesseract Trick, Thor Ragnarok and Avengers Infinity War.
06:33Eagle-eyed viewers always knew that Loki is called the Trickster God for good reason.
06:41When he noticed the Tesseract being back in Asgard during Ragnarok,
06:45he took it for himself.
06:46From there, viewers assumed that Loki would try to use it in a big way,
06:50and he did in Infinity War.
06:52The villain turned anti-hero used the cube to try and distract Thanos
06:56long enough for the Hulk to attack.
06:58It didn't really do much to stop the mad titan, sadly.
07:01In fact, Loki actually died after this, but his actions did confirm that
07:05even in his last moments, he always had a trick up his sleeve.
07:16Number 13, the Netflix shows actually are canon, various.
07:21For the longest time, we didn't know if Marvel's slew of Netflix shows
07:25were canon to the MCU or not.
07:27Sure, Kingpin showed up in the Hawkeye show,
07:30and Daredevil was a lawyer in Spider-Man No Way Home.
07:33You're gonna need a really good lawyer.
07:36Peter, you may have dodged your legal troubles, but things will get much worse.
07:39There is still a court of public opinion.
07:41But even when actors from the Netflix shows reprised their roles in official MCU projects,
07:46that wasn't enough, because maybe they weren't actually the same versions.
07:51Maybe they were just canonically adjacent variants.
07:53See how confusing this gets?
07:55It got us breaking out the big vocabulary words.
07:58Still, many believed the shows were connected,
08:00and eventually those fans were proven right.
08:03Marvel's head of streaming, Brad Winterbaum,
08:05ended the debate in 2024 and confirmed they were canon.
08:14Great!
08:14So how long until Daredevil's in the next Avengers movie?
08:18Number 12.
08:19Iron Man's death.
08:20Avengers Endgame.
08:21Unfortunately, someone was bound to die in this movie.
08:25One Avenger that many thought would bite the bullet happened to be Iron Man.
08:28What's wrong?
08:29Nothing, I'm just going into cardiac arrest because you yanked it out.
08:32What? I thought you said this was safe.
08:33We gotta hurry. Take this, take this.
08:35Okay.
08:35We gotta switch it out really quick.
08:36Okay, okay.
08:37Tony.
08:38What?
08:38It's gonna be okay.
08:39Even one of Iron Man's own comic book writers, Bob Layton,
08:42believed it would happen.
08:44In a way, it made total sense.
08:46Someone needed to complete the ultimate sacrifice to stop Thanos.
08:50So who better than the Avenger that started off the entire MCU?
08:54Plus, Robert Downey Jr.'s contractual status with Marvel Studios at the time
08:59suggested he was winding down.
09:01Suddenly, Endgame seemed like the perfect place to have Tony Stark's swan song.
09:05While Tony did die in Endgame,
09:08proving this theory right was a bittersweet victory in the end.
09:17Iron Man.
09:20Sure, the fan theorists won.
09:22But at what cost?
09:24Number 11.
09:25The Spider-Man Return.
09:26Spider-Man No Way Home.
09:27The third MCU Spider-Man film
09:29had to have been one of the most eagerly anticipated MCU projects ever.
09:34Badass.
09:35Seriously, it just had to be there.
09:38One of the biggest reasons for the hype
09:39was because of the theory that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire would return as Spider-Man.
09:44This also led to other theories that came true.
09:47Andrew's Spidey being the one to save MJ.
09:58The idea of Tobey and Andrew coming back was the talk of the town for months.
10:03So getting to actually see our wildest dreams be proven true
10:06was a moment like nothing else.
10:08We got to see three different Spider-Men saving the day.
10:12What's cooler than that?
10:13This was a multiverse movie done right.
10:16Number 10.
10:17Red Skull Survival.
10:18Captain America The First Avenger.
10:20At the end of The First Avenger,
10:22it seemed like Johann Schmidt got what was coming to him
10:24when the Tesseract disintegrated him.
10:37However, fans weren't convinced they'd seen the last of the Red Skull.
10:41When the Tesseract, aka the Space Stone,
10:43was shown to be able to teleport people and open portals,
10:46that was all the evidence they needed.
10:57Fans knew he'd pop up again somewhere, only having been teleported.
11:01But no one could have guessed he'd been transported to the planet Vormir
11:05to become the guardian of another Infinity Stone.
11:08Even though Hugo Weaving didn't return for the role,
11:11it was a nice surprise to see the villain appear in Infinity War.
11:23Number 9.
11:24Jake Lockley is here.
11:25Moon Knight.
11:26The MCU has made several changes when it comes to character history.
11:30In Moon Knight, we saw Stephen Grant discover
11:32he was an alternate personality to superhero Mark Spector.
11:36While casual viewers enjoyed watching the dynamic between two Oscar Isaacs,
11:40comic readers knew the character was one personality short.
11:49When the show began airing, it seemed like Marvel was only going to include the two,
11:53until hints towards the third started rolling in.
11:56It became a game to theorize which moments Jake could have had control over.
12:00Episode 4's asylum twist offered the biggest clue.
12:03A second sarcophagus made it all but clear there was a third personality.
12:11Jake Lockley's existence was finally confirmed in the finale's mid-credits scene.
12:25Number 8.
12:26Hulk in the Hulkbuster.
12:27Avengers Infinity War.
12:29Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor made its glorious debut in Age of Ultron,
12:33where Tony uses to subdue a mind-altered Hulk.
12:41Among the many hype-inducing shots from Infinity War's first trailer,
12:45fans were delighted to see the armor make a return.
12:47Then began the theorizing.
12:49It didn't seem likely Tony would need it for the Hulk again,
12:52considering Bruce's arc in Thor Ragnarok.
12:55While several characters were guessed to be the operator,
12:58most evidence pointed towards Hulk himself.
13:00This included an earlier shot in the trailer
13:03showing Bruce next to one of the suit's arms.
13:05When Infinity War released,
13:07the theory was proven true.
13:16Although he only needed it because his alter ego refused to come out.
13:24Number 7.
13:25King Thor.
13:26Thor Ragnarok.
13:27When Thor debuted in the MCU,
13:29he craved the chance to one day be King of Asgard.
13:37But some hard-learned lessons made him realize he didn't want it.
13:42Father, I cannot be King of Asgard.
13:45I will protect Asgard and all the realms
13:48with my last and every breath,
13:50but I cannot do so from that chair.
13:52As Ragnarok approached,
13:54some fans theorized that he'd be forced onto the throne
13:57with the passing of his father, Odin.
13:58Ragnarok is an important event in Norse myth,
14:01detailing the destruction of Asgard
14:03and the death of Odin,
14:04Plus, with the goddess of death Hela as the villain,
14:07it seemed like a safe bet.
14:09In the movie, Odin does die, albeit peacefully,
14:12leaving Thor to be crowned as King by the end.
14:15So, King of Asgard.
14:25However, he'd soon give up the crown to Valkyrie,
14:28who'd rule over New Asgard.
14:30Number six, Peter Parker's first appearance, Iron Man 2.
14:34One of the most widespread MCU fan theories
14:37stated that Peter Parker had been in the MCU
14:39far longer than we were told.
14:41Hey buddy, this is Larry.
14:43Hey, the Oracle of Oracle.
14:45What a pleasure, nice to see you.
14:46During his time in the MCU,
14:47Peter Parker's first appearance was in Iron Man 2,
14:50where he played the role of Iron Man.
14:52Iron Man 2 is a movie about Iron Man,
14:54but it's also about Iron Man.
14:56Iron Man 2 is a movie about Iron Man.
14:58What a pleasure, nice to see you.
14:59During the climax of Iron Man 2,
15:01Tony swoops down to save a kid from a hammer drone.
15:10Nice work, kid.
15:13Though he's wearing a mask,
15:14the theory that this boy is actually Peter Parker
15:17got a lot of love from the fans.
15:19It made sense, too.
15:20The Stark Expo was held in Queens, Peter's hometown,
15:23and the boy's age matched how old Peter
15:26would have been around that time.
15:27Is it for me?
15:28Happy, happy, wait.
15:30This is insane, insane.
15:32Look at this thing.
15:33Look, look at the eyes.
15:34This is the greatest day of my life.
15:35While promoting Spider-Man Homecoming,
15:37Tom Holland confirmed that the theory was indeed true,
15:41even citing producer Kevin Feige.
15:43It was nice to have an earlier connection
15:45between the two heroes, even a small one.
15:48You know what, we should actually,
15:48we should make an alibi video for your aunt.
15:50Anyway, you ready?
15:51An alibi?
15:52Yeah, get in the frame.
15:54Hey, May.
15:55How you doing?
15:55What are you wearing?
15:56Something skimpy, I hope.
15:58Number five, Planet Hulk, Avengers Age of Ultron,
16:02and Thor Ragnarok.
16:03At the end of Age of Ultron, Hulk flew off in a Quinjet,
16:06leaving his teammates behind.
16:09So help me out.
16:11I need you.
16:18His exit caused many to speculate
16:20where we might see him next.
16:22Despite actively not showing him leave Earth's atmosphere,
16:25many fans hoped for a Planet Hulk adaptation.
16:28With Universal still owning the distribution rights
16:30to solo Hulk films,
16:31some guessed we'd see him in Thor Ragnarok
16:34after he was confirmed to not appear in Civil War.
16:36Though Marvel couldn't do the exact storyline,
16:39elements from the popular comic run did appear in Ragnarok.
16:42Hulk!
16:48Yes!
16:51These include the planet Sakaar and Hulk as a gladiator,
16:54though most of his storyline was completely different.
17:02What's this?
17:05Vanna?
17:07Hey, hey, hey.
17:09You all right?
17:13Something's going down.
17:14Something's going down.
17:15That's it, breathe.
17:17Number four, Spider-Man's debut, Captain America Civil War.
17:20When the Amazing Spider-Man 2 failed to meet Sony's expectations,
17:24the studio struck a deal with Marvel
17:26to bring the hero into the MCU.
17:28Hey, I'm Peter.
17:30Tony.
17:31What are you doing here?
17:33It's about time we met.
17:34Being one of Marvel's most cherished characters,
17:37fans immediately began theorizing
17:38about which movie he'd make his debut in.
17:41The popular consensus was Captain America Civil War.
17:44Underoos!
17:51However, some even theorized about this
17:53before Sony and Marvel's deal,
17:55simply based on how big of a role he played in the original comic.
17:58Although Civil War released less than a year
18:00after Tom Holland's official casting,
18:02that's exactly where he debuted.
18:05Captain, big fan of Spider-Man.
18:08Yeah, we'll talk about it later.
18:09Just...
18:10Hey, everyone.
18:10Good job.
18:11It's unfortunate that another film's poor reception helped this happen,
18:15but we were ecstatic to see him.
18:21You have a metal arm?
18:22That is awesome, dude.
18:23Number three, Stan and the Watchers, various.
18:26The legendary Stan Lee began making cameos
18:29in Marvel movies long before the MCU,
18:32but fans were happy to see him keep with the tradition.
18:35Blondie, stop trying to scare us.
18:37Come on.
18:39All right.
18:45Eggshell shield.
18:48His constant appearances birthed the popular theory
18:51that he wasn't just making cameos,
18:53but playing the same character across all movies.
18:56Are you Tony Stank?
18:59Yes, this is Tony Stank.
19:01You're in the right place.
19:03Thank you for that.
19:05More notably, fans believed him to be Uatu,
19:07member of a race called Watchers that witnessed
19:10but didn't interfere with events across the multiverse.
19:13This theory ended up coming true, sort of.
19:15Oh, man.
19:16Anyway, before I was so rudely interrupted at that time,
19:20I was a Federal Express man.
19:22Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 showed that
19:24while he wasn't Uatu, he was the same character,
19:27and he did inform the Watchers about events within the MCU.
19:30Hey, wait.
19:31Where are you going?
19:32Hey, you were supposed to be my lift home.
19:35How will I get out of here?
19:37Hey, oh, gee.
19:38I've got so many more stories to tell.
19:41Oh, guys.
19:42Oh, gee.
19:45The actual Uatu wouldn't appear
19:47until the Disney Plus series, What If?
19:49Please fix this.
19:51The same way you fixed Christine.
19:54I was wrong.
19:56You were warned.
19:57Number two, Cap picking up the hammer.
19:59Avengers Age of Ultron and Avengers Endgame.
20:02While Mjolnir will always be connected to Thor,
20:04there are a handful of other characters
20:06that have wielded the mighty weapon in the comics.
20:09Some fans may have wondered if we'd ever see
20:11such an occurrence in the MCU,
20:13and they got their first tease in Age of Ultron.
20:16Come on, Cap.
20:18Nothing.
20:27While celebrating a victory,
20:29the Avengers tested if any of them could pick it up.
20:32Cap producing a small budge led many to believe
20:35he'd one day wield it.
20:49Though Vision ended up lifting it later,
20:51that tease made it clear to many
20:53that it was only a matter of time
20:55before Steve showed his worthiness.
21:07In one of the franchise's most cheerworthy moments,
21:10Cap made all our wishes come true in Endgame.
21:14No, no, give me that.
21:15You have the little one.
21:16Ah!

21:30and switch on notifications.
21:34Number one, the Quantum Realm,
21:36Ant-Man and the Wasp,
21:37and Avengers Endgame.
21:38First introduced in Ant-Man,
21:40the Quantum Realm played a much bigger role
21:42than many may have initially guessed.
21:46Everything that you know and love.
21:52When Scott Lang entered the extremely small universe,
21:56many fans correctly guessed
21:57this would lead to the eventual rescue of Janet Van Dyne.
22:00That came to be in its sequel,
22:02Ant-Man and the Wasp.
22:03But the theorizing about the importance of the Quantum Realm
22:06didn't stop there.
22:07Following her rescue,
22:08Janet made mention of the Quantum Realm's time capabilities.
22:11Also, make sure you stay out of the tardigrade fields.
22:14They're cute, but they'll eat you.
22:15And don't get sucked into a time vortex.
22:17We won't be able to save you.
22:19So when Thanos snapped out half of existence,
22:22fans then guessed that the Quantum Realm
22:24would be used for time travel to undo his actions.
22:27When Endgame released,
22:28those fans were proven right.
22:30I was in a place called the Quantum Realm.
22:32The Quantum Realm is like its own microscopic universe.
22:35To get in there, you have to be incredibly small.
22:37Is there another MCU fan theory
22:39that turned out to be true that we forgot?
22:41Break it down in the comments down below.
22:43How about you?
22:44You're a prince.
22:46Must have been would-be princesses.
22:50Or perhaps another prince.
22:54A bit of both.
