00:00We're tracking Cyclone Zelia.
00:04It's now about 100km north of Port Hedland as it heads towards WA's Pilbara coast.
00:11It's most likely to make landfall this afternoon.
00:13The Bureau's tracker is currently indicating around 5pm Western Standard Time.
00:19It certainly is a monster.
00:21It's already packing winds of 285km per hour and that could get to 320km per hour near
00:29its centre as it crosses the coast, bringing possibly a very dangerous storm tide and also
00:36a big dumping of rain with potential flash flooding warnings in the area.
00:42Now you can see the satellite shows that huge band of cloud, that's as that trough extends
00:49through southern NT and into NSW and also Victoria.
00:54But we also have high fire danger conditions in much of the country.
00:59That includes an out of control bushfire that is currently raging down in Carina and surrounds
01:04in Tasmania's northwest, while rain continues to soak parts of the east with severe warnings
01:11for potential flash flooding around Victoria and NSW Alps.
01:17So looking ahead, we are going to see heavy rain and storms continue in north and central
01:22WA, while those showers and storms are going to clear for much of the east coast as the
01:28change moves offshore.
01:30So the main bulk of those rain totals will be in WA.
01:34You can see the purple denoting more than 400mm.
01:37In fact, we're expecting around 500mm or so of rain in that region.
01:43So let's check the weather for the start of your weekend.
01:46And Brisbane, you've got a shower or two and 29 degrees.
01:49Sydney, you'll have the same as well as a possible storm and a top of 27.
01:54It'll be partly cloudy though in Canberra and 24.
01:57Melbourne's got a shower or two and it's going to become windy.
02:00It'll get up to 18 degrees.
02:02For Hobart, you'll have showers as well and just 16.
02:06Cloudy skies in Adelaide and 23.
02:09Perth though, you'll be sunny and it will be very hot, 35 degrees for you.
02:13And up top, Darwin, showers and a possible storm and it's getting to 31.
