00:00If you see different pavilions, you will find out that a lot of countries have their specific language.
00:06For example, Great Britain is always doing a piece of art,
00:10Austria is doing mostly something quite forward-ish design-wise,
00:15and Germany is always trying to really contribute in content.
00:20I think that's very important for us Germans to really take it serious.
00:24I mean, hey, we are Germans, so...
00:28So there is a German tonality, but I think what is specific to us
00:35compared to other German pavilions in the past is that we really want to entertain people
00:41and that we really want to give them a good time.
00:44And while they have this good time, they learn something,
00:48they can take some things away about technology, about possible solutions,
00:52so that they finally understand, and that's a true belief of mine,
00:56that we can solve the global challenges if we work together.
01:01I think it's not so much, or hopefully it's not so much like a student,
01:05but, I mean, Google has a campus, Facebook has a campus,
01:09so it's a place where people come together to find solutions.
01:12And here you have people from all over the world coming together,
01:16and they are all driven by those global challenges that we are facing.
01:20So that's, I think, more the metaphor, that we have people from all over the world coming together,
01:24thinking about how to solve these problems.
01:27First comes the idea, the narrative from the creative guys.
01:31They should find a way that it comes over very easily to our guests.
01:36You know, there's a lot of high-tech in the German pavilion,
01:38but if we don't explain to you, you didn't know.
01:42And that's the secret behind it.
01:45If we need technology, it's just to bring our content across and the emotion across.
01:50So thinking about swings, when we start to think about why not using swings,
01:54to let people move by themselves, doing something by themselves.
01:59We have an idea that everybody has, thinking about swings from a playground.
02:03Well, that's nice, that's poetic.
02:05Then we start to find out how we can do it under the circumstances here in the land,
02:09and all the regulations which you have if you try to get 100 people on the swings at the same time.
02:15And then our engineers come across and say,
02:17Hey guys, now we start developing something very technical that is safe for the people,
02:22so that nothing can happen, because that's also very important, you know.
02:25And that's where it comes from.
02:27So coming from the story, from the narrative, going through the content,
02:31and then we find the right technical solution.
02:33Of course, you learn something about Germany.
02:37Hopefully, you understand that we are not that serious that you might believe,
02:42so that we also have some humor and a little bit of entertaining.
02:47But you also learn that we can contribute something to the solutions that we need to solve the global challenges.
02:56I think that's very important for our customer also.
02:59Yeah, but you also had a good time, and you should understand that it's a sympathetic and good country.
03:06I mean, you know, we have a difficult history.
03:09So for us, it's quite important that people like us.
03:13The people that were here helped us a lot.
03:15They supported us a lot.
03:16They were very professional.
03:18And if there comes some problems across, we always can go to them and ask them for help,
03:22and they've supported us as good as they can.
03:24And they find always a solution to manage the problems that you have,
03:28if you're working four years to build up such a huge building.
