00:00A community campaign led by two Indian expat girls in the UAE has helped send over 2.4
00:08tons of relief material to the flood-hit Konkan regions of Maharashtra.
00:14Torrential rains in late July had caused massive floods and landslides in large parts of the
00:18western Indian state, claiming the lives of more than 210 and isolating several areas
00:24for days.
00:25More than 10,000 people in these areas were displaced with no access to clean water, food
00:30and clothing.
00:31While they are assisted by the governments and NGOs, Indian expats in the UAE have also
00:36been doing their bit in supporting their compatriots in distress.
00:41Deeply disturbed after seeing the images and videos of the flood-hit people, 11th grader
00:46Reva Tulpul, a student of GEMS Modern Academy in Dubai, decided to launch a community campaign
00:51to collect clothes and blankets for the flood victims.
00:55Reva and her friend Shruti Chorj put up a video appeal and shared it through the Facebook
01:00and Instagram handles of Reva's platform WeCareDXB, which she founded in 2017.
01:06As the message spread, they were joined by young, like-minded supporters Ayesha Sarguro,
01:11Maryam Sheikh and Reem Dalwai to make the five-day campaign that was launched on July
