00:00Police station is where people go to report a crime, traffic accidents, or to get help.
00:06In most countries, it is stressful to visit a police station, as the easiest task could take several hours.
00:14But Dubai Police established a new, innovative way to provide their services without any human intervention.
00:21We are here at the smart police station located at Palm Jumeirah to see how people get police services in a creative way.
00:36Hi, welcome to the Palm Jumeirah Smart Police Station.
00:39Let me just take you on a quick tour to show you what it's all about.
00:42The benefit of a smart police station is the fact that we have so many of them located in different areas in Dubai.
00:47We have convenient locations, they're open 24 hours, 7 days a week, which makes it easier for tourists and residents to open police campaigns.
00:55In smart police stations, we have 27 services and 33 sub-services.
00:59In addition to this, we have 4 service points, 2 of which are confidential booths for opening things such as criminal cases and the higher privacy sort of situations.
01:09And the other 2 service points are for easier access, for example, like a clearance certificate or just paying your fines.
01:15Currently, we're standing at service point number 1. It's in the form of a private booth.
01:19Once you go inside, the doors are closed behind you.
01:21You will have direct live face-to-face calls with the police officers who will take your case.
01:26And once you finish from the case, you're going to receive a reference number which you can use to follow up on your cases.
01:31Now we're in service point 1, which is the first booth.
01:34And what I'm going to do is show you how it works.
01:36So once we want to apply for a service, here we have to first select the language.
01:40We have 7 options.
01:42In this case, I'm going to select English.
01:46Once you've selected the language, you have the option of selecting resident or visitor.
01:50In my case, I will select resident.
01:52After that, you can manually enter your Emirates ID number or you can insert the card, which is what I'm going to do right now.
01:59So you just take the card and enter it into the slot and wait for the system to take your details.
02:07So once we take our Emirates ID back, here we proceed to the next screen.
02:11As I previously mentioned, we have 27 services, 33 sub-services.
02:16So here we have the 4 categories of services, which is criminal services, traffic services, certificates and permits, and community services.
02:25So in my case, for example, I'm going to open a criminal service.
02:28Under that, you have different options as well, such as opening a case, reporting a bounced check, requesting for home security, or the other kinds of services.
02:38So once we select open case, here we're going to get a notification that says that we're going to be connected with an officer.
02:44Once you select yes, it's going to call the concerned officer who will take your request.
02:49So just as you already know, we have the film crew with us from Gulf News.
02:52And they just wanted like a brief explanation, for example, why do we have this live interaction and what's the point of it.
02:58Good afternoon, I'm Lieutenant Khaled Mohammed, Smart Police Station.
03:01Smart Police Station has been open since 2017.
03:05We have like 10 police stations, Smart Police Station, all over Dubai.
03:08And the Smart Police Station is a little bit different about another police station that we can provide the same situation and the services that's available, but in shorter time.
03:19The statements of any complainer will be taken in 15 minutes, 20 minutes, and they can take the complaint number directly.
03:25We have like five languages now that's available, and we are working 24 hours.
03:30Arabic, English, Urdu, Persian, and Russian is being now added in the Smart Police Station.
03:36And until now, we received actually a lot of calls actually.
03:40We received from the beginning of the year until now almost 11,000 calls.
03:44Smart Police Station by itself is making the same work as available in the normal police station.
03:50But every time there will be an officer, there will be an officer to answer the criminal section and criminal struggles.
03:57I think we are making now good notes because we have too much people going, especially the European people.
04:03They love the Smart Police Station because it's very fast, and our system is linked with SMS.
04:08So anytime anything will happen from the complainer, they will start receiving SMSs and what exactly they've been done.
04:14We wish that the people hear from us and they come for us.
04:17If they have any small matters, we can tell them what exactly to do, and we can open a case for them that they come for us.
04:24So now that we've completed the phone call with our officer, it gives us a token.
04:29Here on the token, it will give you the reference number, the date and time, so you have something to refer to when you follow up with the officers.
04:35So as I mentioned, we have four service points.
04:38The first two service points are confidential rooms, and this is in the case that you want to open a criminal case
04:44or in the situation where you want to be connected with a police officer directly, so you have a live interaction with a human officer.
04:50As for service points 3 and 4, these are more for express services, such as applying for a police clearance certificate or just paying for a fine.
04:58So these are quicker and more efficient ways of doing things rather than connecting with an officer at all times.
05:03So here we have key point or service point 3 and 4.
05:07Here we can apply for smaller services which don't require live interaction.
05:11So for example, paying for a fine or requesting for a police clearance certificate,
05:16these are the quicker services which you can do by yourself without any interaction.
05:20In the entertainment section, we have Dubai Police music, which is the old Dubai Police band tunes.
05:25In addition to that, we have the virtual reality goggles that will take you on a tour.
05:29So this is just to keep our customers entertained while they're waiting for their turn.
05:32So here we have the waiting area.
05:34So as I mentioned, we do have our entertainment section, but we also have a coffee machine.
05:38So while customers are waiting, they're sitting in full comfort.
05:41Amazing projects like Smart Police Station were distributed across the city to cut time and effort of residents and tourists.
05:48It shows that Dubai Police are keen to use latest technology to bring safety, security, and happiness even closer to everyone.
