Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain reaffirmed that the Marine Police Unit will remain under the police force.

Speaking at the 77th Marine Police Anniversary ceremony on Saturday (Nov 23), he emphasised the unit's crucial role in safeguarding national waters and praised its outstanding performance.

00:00As everyone knows, today we are celebrating the anniversary of the Marine Corps.
00:09The Marine Corps was established in Sabah in 1977.
00:18The Marine Corps was established on 1 September 1947.
00:26The Marine Corps was established to control the maritime law and the law that governs Malaysia.

01:32especially what we did to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Marine Corps in Sabah,

02:02We were able to reduce the number of kidnappings.
02:04So, I think from 2020 until today,
02:10Alhamdulillah, there are no more kidnappings or kidnappings that happened here.
