00:00Well, right now, there's really huge advantages that a Filipino beauty queen could have in
00:13the international pageant because, you know, we have been placing, as you've said, we've
00:18been placing in the past few years in the many international pageants, not just in Miss
00:24Universe, but also like Miss World, Miss International, even other beauty pageants
00:29internationally.
00:30When they see that they are wearing the sash of the Philippines, they always look at the
00:34Philippines as someone who is beautiful because we are.
00:38Someone who is competitive, someone who is a strong woman, someone who is, who can be
00:43a spokesperson for the world to see.
00:46So right now, it's really an advantage that so many beauty queens from the Philippines
00:52are winning the international pageant.
00:58So far, I haven't really talked to Maxine like the way I've talked to the past queens,
01:05but I remember one thing I told her before that, especially in the Q&A portion, because
01:11that's one of the most tedious parts of a beauty pageant, you know, she's beautiful
01:16physically, she knows how to walk, and I'm sure she's emotionally ready.
01:21One thing I told her about the Q&A is that you should really know who you are.
01:27You should know yourself first before you can give comment or you can give suggestion
01:34or you can give, you know, your opinion about something.
01:40Because if you don't know yourself, it's so easy to be lured into the opinion of other
01:46people or into the opinion of the world.
01:50But if you know what are you standing for, it's easy to answer.
01:55It's easy to know where you're cited at.
01:59In beauty pageants, we're only given 30 seconds to answer a question, and people judge you
02:04because of what you say, and somehow people are saying, somehow people are judging a woman
02:13based on that one question and that one answer that you have given.
02:19So I just told her before, I remember this one, I told her during her Bini Bini days
02:24that whatever comes first into your mind, just say it.
02:28Don't complicate things, don't overthink, don't, you know, try to impress the judges.
02:36Just whatever comes into your mind, just say it, because it will come naturally.
02:43I was so young when I joined Miss Universe, I was just 22.
02:48And at that time, I don't really, I was not emotionally mature yet to think that, you
02:57know, these are my skills and these are the things that, these are my edge against my
03:02opponent.
03:04I am not that mature yet to really imbibe that, you know, this is, these are the things
03:10that could make you win.
03:11The real reason why I think I won Miss Universe 4th Runner-Up is that because the Lord has
03:17a purpose of putting me there.
03:19And now I understand what is really the purpose of me winning Miss Universe 4th Runner-Up.
03:25I am able to influence young ladies, especially children.
03:31I am able to share my experience in the past and the learnings that I've had in the past
03:37of the kinds of experiences that young women are having right now, especially in the area
03:43of, you know, insecurities in life as a woman or as a young girl.
03:48So many young girls, they have also so many insecurities in life and most of them are
03:52coming from the physical appearance.
03:54There's actually really no reason for them to be insecure of how they look because we
03:58are all fearfully and wonderfully made and we should celebrate the way we look.
