00:10Civic authorities across the UAE are working hard to clean up the damage and rescue people
00:14trapped in rainstorms last night. Heavy rains lashed parts of the UAE last night following
00:19a severe dust storm forcing residents indoors. Sharjah was badly affected with winds reaching
00:25speeds of up to 70 km per hour. Forecasters have warned of more rain today. The maximum
00:32temperature will be 37 degrees Celsius, dropping to 19 at night.
00:36US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Turkey today. He is expected to press the country
00:41to normalise relations with Israel and help get involved in the peace process. Kerry will
00:47also press Turkey to keep its border open to Syrian refugees and improve their ties
00:52with Iraq.
00:54Saudi Arabia's King has called for giving foreigners staying illegally in the country
00:58a three-month grace period to regularise their situation. Authorities last week launched
01:03a massive campaign to deport thousands of foreigners who overstayed their residence
01:08permits or worked illegally.
01:11Qatar is hosting a two-day conference today on reconstruction in Sudan's Darfur region.
01:17The conference is seeking $7.2 billion in aid aimed at making Darfur more self-dependent.
01:23The US has delayed a ballistic missile test to avoid stoking tensions with North Korea.
01:29The move to reschedule the test comes as the international community grows increasingly
01:33nervous that the situation could spiral out of control.
01:37South Africa's former President Nelson Mandela has left hospital after a 10-day stay during
