00:00:00The Philadelphia Eagles for the second time in franchise history a Super Bowl champion at the pinnacle of the National
00:00:07Football League and Donnie it has well been reported that Jalen Holt hurts his phone
00:00:12Background since coming up ever so shy of Kansas City two seasons ago in Phoenix, Arizona
00:00:19Had himself watching the red and yellow confetti fall out there in the desert
00:00:26Jalen Hurts waiting for his moment to be back in this spot despite
00:00:32Outperforming Patrick Mahomes perhaps in the first time these two sides met Jalen Hurts a man that shows little
00:00:40Emotion always very even-keeled which is what you want out of your signal caller if you are hoping to win a Super Bowl
00:00:49Championship Jalen Hurts who famously has said DRS you either win or you learn
00:00:54Well, he learned last night and he looked one step ahead of Casey's defense for all 60 minutes inside the Caesars Superdome
00:01:02I say 60 minutes
00:01:03He didn't even play the final five Kenny Pickett got some run the game was so out of hand
00:01:09Look at those numbers for a second consecutive Super Bowl matchup
00:01:13Jalen Hurts was the better quarterback out there last night even in front of Patrick Mahomes 17 of 22 through the air
00:01:22222 passing yards over his number of 211 and a hook and for the second consecutive Super Bowl as well hurts
00:01:30Philadelphia's leading rusher 11 carries for 72 yards on the ground one of the main stories Donnie
00:01:36How healthy how effective would that left knee be for Jalen Hurts last night?
00:01:41The answer was very three total touchdowns and his hurts leads, Philadelphia to a Super Bowl 59 championship
00:01:48He goes home with some MVP hardware as well
00:01:52Like Michael Jackson said boy, that is a smooth criminal out here
00:01:56You might see him in front of that microphone look like he's disinterested
00:01:59But boy, his words are poignant and what he says he meant it here and how about that having your phone?
00:02:04Which again not a lot of fanfare
00:02:06Somebody actually got a picture of him trying to unlock his phone with the picture of him sitting on the sidelines
00:02:11They're walking off
00:02:12I should say the Super Bowl with all the confetti coming out in a losing fashion
00:02:15What a way to motivate yourself and understand this as well
00:02:18Like if you look at Jalen Hurts, he's still a young quarterback in the league and now has a Super Bowl and an MVP
00:02:23But all throughout the season whether it's national headlines local beat writers people just saying he's not a good quarterback
00:02:29He's just a game manager. He can't get the job done now playing out playing
00:02:33I should say Patrick Holmes in the only two Super Bowls that he's been in versus Patrick
00:02:37But Holmes is a sensational way to go out here and his job isn't done
00:02:41He's gonna probably a high-level quarterback for a decade
00:02:43But understanding any business that you're in you like let's just say you're a superstar on a great sitcom show
00:02:49But you're one of the people on the show that doesn't get any credit because they say the other
00:02:53Cast members are so much better than you and you're riding their coattails
00:02:56Taking that to heart and coming up with performances like this because even once you got to the playoffs
00:03:01Yeah, they greet beat the Green Bay Packers a good football team wasn't celebrating. Yes. They beat the Los Angeles Rams job not done
00:03:07We got a playoff victory. So what winning the NFC Championship game by 30 points at home?
00:03:12It's not a big deal
00:03:13The next one is the one we want and even being in New Orleans where you saw all of those press conferences come out
00:03:18Just being calm cool collected and saying hey, how's it feel to be in the Super Bowl?
00:03:23It's only gonna feel good if we win this thing and damn it. Did he win that thing Ben?
00:03:27Jalen Hurts score in the opening touchdown of Super Bowl 59 minus 115 to hit pay dirt
00:03:34the second best price of any player entering Super Bowl Sunday selfishly for me a
00:03:39Six to one ticket for Hertz being the first touchdown score of Super Bowl
00:03:4559 on a deep pass down the right sideline to Johan Dotson that initially was ruled a touchdown
00:03:51but upon replay review Dotson just a yard or so shy and
00:03:57cashing once again under a yard and a half for the shortest touchdown scored in a
00:04:03Super Bowl a profitable night indeed
00:04:06For Jalen Hurts and Donnie the story through the opening three games of this playoff run for Hertz
00:04:12With a lack of production
00:04:14Of course, he was ousted from the opening quarter of that week 16 matchup against the commanders in concussion protocol
00:04:21We had not seen him since that juncture wasn't asked to do much against the Green Bay Packers
00:04:26Wasn't asked to do much in the snow against the LA Rams and then injured that left knee in the second half
00:04:31How healthy would he be in the NFC championship game? Not overly mobile despite three rushing scores, but
00:04:39246 yards through the air and did everything once again for the Eagles last night and Donnie
00:04:45What are my favorite things that you do?
00:04:47Which I think is great for people who maybe don't stay up and watch all the games or are looking to recap
00:04:53Early on the following morning is looking at the box score and saying if I were to tell you this
00:04:58What would you think the result of the game would have been we do that for sake one Barkley
00:05:0425 carries only
00:05:0757 yards on the ground the second fewest for Barkley in an Eagles uniform in his debut year in
00:05:15Philadelphia 2.3 yards per carry did have six grabs for 40 receiving yards against Kansas City last night
00:05:22But it wasn't the sake one Barkley game that we all anticipated DRS in yet
00:05:28The Eagles were still pulling off perhaps the most dominant performance. We have seen in a Super Bowl it nearly a decade
00:05:36It's crazy because also when you look at the running back position remove again Jalen Hurts in the defense
00:05:41Saquon Barkley 26 for 57
00:05:43Oh, maybe game will had a pretty good amount of runs six carries for 10 yards
00:05:46Look at the wideouts like the Vonta caught that 46 yard touchdown
00:05:49Oh, he must had 146 yards in that game since they scored 40 points
00:05:53They finished with 69 AJ Brown 43 dots in 42 Barkley 40 got her 27 a balanced attack
00:06:00but this box score doesn't line up without dominant the Eagles were why because they kept having short fields an
00:06:05Interception for a touchdown interception inside the red zone both produced touchdowns there but phenomenal plays by Jalen Hurts
00:06:11Which is the focal point once again last Super Bowl Ben 70 yards on the ground this Super Bowl Super Bowl record
00:06:1772 yards on the ground and a touchdown that you saw in that tush push every play
00:06:22Jalen Hurts needed to make he made those plays and even though throwing that one interception, which was terrible never got flustered never said
00:06:29Oh, no, here we go again
00:06:31I'm turning the football over in the Super Bowl played lights out the rest of the way
00:06:34Which is exactly what you wanted the Eagles to do when the play was there to be made Jalen Hurts made that play
00:06:40And Donnie that was the story of the game as well very early on in the second quarter
00:06:46The birds up by a touchdown Jalen Hurts commits the first turnover of a Super Bowl and you're thinking
00:06:52All right, this is where Kansas City strikes
00:06:55Three and out punted the football right back to the Eagles and had very little life from there on out
00:07:02We'll talk about the defensive performance for the ages by the NFL's best defense all year long
00:07:08Perhaps under the best offensive mind the sport has seen in the last two decades in Vic Fangio
00:07:15and put into context where this Eagles team ranks in NFL history a
00:07:21defensive performance for the ages last night by the NFL's best offensive unit all
00:07:27season long in the National Football League on the most
00:07:30Monumental of stages in the most significant of matchups in a Super Bowl by the Eagles
00:07:38Absolutely getting the better of Andy Reid
00:07:41Patrick Mahomes and that Chiefs offense and not just bowing up Donnie when it mattered most
00:07:47But having an answer to any potential question
00:07:50the Chiefs might ask in making Kansas City look like they were
00:07:55Absolutely out at sea and lost the entirety of the football game three total turnovers forced by Philadelphia
00:08:03resulting directly in
00:08:05117 points including a pick six
00:08:09interception return touchdown by the rookie
00:08:12celebrating his
00:08:1322nd birthday
00:08:15Cooper Dejean and Zach Bond who was largely a castaway in a specials teamer to open up his NFL career in New
00:08:23Orleans his first year as a starter full-time in the NFL. He's an all-pro performer and has an
00:08:30Interception late in the opening half against the Chiefs that resulted in a touchdown to AJ Brown just a few
00:08:36seconds later and at that point Donnie
00:08:40Goodnight, New Orleans
00:08:41the Eagles led 24 to zip at the break a single point shy of matching the largest
00:08:48halftime lead in Super Bowl history
00:08:51Forty to six this game was Ben with a couple minutes left in the game
00:08:55Let's understand how we got to that point too
00:08:57Because if you're looking at the way things need to happen, you don't want to give the other team life
00:09:01Hey, they got great starting field position at the 40-yard line or the 50-yard line every time the Eagles made a mistake
00:09:06Which was rare Jalen Hurts interception. Where did that ball end up at the two-yard line?
00:09:10You know what? The defense did three and up the Kansas City Chiefs right before the half
00:09:14Oh, no, I really wanted the Eagles to get that third and three they punt the ball inside the 10-yard line. What happens next man?
00:09:21Interception so you're putting two Chiefs in high leverage
00:09:24Situations where they must produce just to get out of their own end zone
00:09:27And then what were they gonna do drive 80 plus 90 plus yards just to get a field goal
00:09:31They weren't able to do that
00:09:32So the Eagles defense was dialing up the exact play calls that you needed and also understand this
00:09:37We've learned this in the past before you watch the New York Giants rattle Tom Brady by
00:09:41Rushing for rushers and saying we have to drop back everybody and make plays
00:09:46It's very rare that you see a non blitzing situation where Patrick Mahomes just doesn't stand comfortably in the pocket
00:09:52They have the perfect play call gear against his own or a man defense that didn't happen
00:09:56He was rushed the entire performance something
00:09:58We don't usually see a rattled Mahomes which led to turnover after turnover after turnover
00:10:04It's amazing how much when you snap the football as a quarterback and you're immediately thinking about the pass rush as opposed to saying
00:10:10Let me wait on this route for a couple guys to clear
00:10:12There were some plays to be made by the Kansas City Chiefs if you remember
00:10:16Hopkins on a wide open crossing route earlier in that game when they were only down let's just say two scores
00:10:21Dropping that football which forced upon as opposed to a 30 or 40 yard gain
00:10:25All the plays were made by the Philadelphia Eagles defense
00:10:28just not enough plays until late for Kansas City and it all stems from that front four that I talked about so many times in
00:10:35The Super Bowl two years ago
00:10:36He was that one of the best sack defense in the history of football by organic pass rush by four
00:10:41It was an ice-skating rake Mahomes do whatever he wanted because he wasn't touched here fast-forward to this year on turf
00:10:47You let a nasty defensive line go up against an average offensive line and you saw the results that was supposed to happen two years
00:10:54Ago, the Eagles made it right in Super Bowl 59
00:10:57the second most sacks ever in NFL history during the
00:11:012022 NFL season only behind a fellow Super Bowl champion in the Monsters of the Midway and the
00:11:091985 Chicago Bears last night. They made it right in a big way
00:11:14Monumental night for Josh wet the kind of day you dream of of a pass rusher in the NFL two and a half sacks
00:11:20two tackles for loss on the most significant of stages all
00:11:25season long six sacks
00:11:2816 pressures a
00:11:3152% pressure rate with only a four-man rush that is
00:11:37Historic numbers for any NFL game Donnie
00:11:40but certainly in a Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes entering last night had not thrown an
00:11:47Interception since week 11 against the Buffalo Bills
00:11:50He tosses to including a pick six and another I NT right before the break that resulted in a touchdown
00:11:58He also had a fumble in the second half three turnovers for Patrick Mahomes in a Super Bowl
00:12:05we'll talk more about Kansas City and where this leaves this dynastic run as we come back on the other side of
00:12:12The break, but I do want to put into context this year's Eagles team
00:12:17And we'll do that with Donnie right side on the other side of the break
00:12:22He'll have that second Lombardi trophy in the background in just a few days
00:12:28What this means for Philadelphia what this means for the Eagles as a franchise?
00:12:33What it says about this year's crew don't forget started just two and two plenty more on the early line
00:12:40In the fifth ever Super Bowl appearance for the Philadelphia Eagles as a franchise the second Lombardi trophy
00:12:47Making its way back to the city of brotherly love grease up those light poles. You know, it's going to be a party in
00:12:55Philadelphia Donnie when this season is done. You will look at the Eagles resume and you might ask yourself
00:13:01Where does this team rank among the best we have ever seen do it in the National Football League 18 wins
00:13:0918
00:13:10after a two-and-two start in a bye week and even
00:13:14Emerging out of the bye week in week number six as more than a touchdown favorite at home
00:13:20Against the Cleveland Browns in Philadelphia struggled there was conversation
00:13:24Is Nick Sirianni really the right guy in Philly?
00:13:28Does he have the temperament is he astute enough to be the successful head coach to elevate his team to a Super Bowl win
00:13:36the Eagles win 16 of their last 17 games and they won 15 in a row that Jalen Hurd started and
00:13:45Finished and they cap it off last night Donnie in New Orleans with perhaps the most dominant performance in a Super Bowl
00:13:52We have ever seen at least in the last decade or so a
00:13:5713 to 1 price for the birds to win a Super Bowl championship before the year got underway
00:14:02Fifth shortest around the National Football League. They cashed that ticket last night Donnie
00:14:08You will add that second Lombardi replica to your set in just a few days. You have been a lifelong Eagles fan
00:14:15How will you remember this 2024 campaign for the birds?
00:14:19As Kelsey said, you know
00:14:21Nobody likes us and we don't care at this point and you want to talk about that kinship now between the coach and also the
00:14:27Quarterback similarities here and for a while Ben they didn't actually get along
00:14:31There were rumbles in the streets the past two years. These guys don't even like to be in meetings together
00:14:35How can they bridge that gap?
00:14:37But you know what they had under the same umbrella was you know, what when I listen to sports talk radio
00:14:42They can't stand me talking about Nick Sirianni
00:14:44They want to be out of here the national media after they go into the bi-week after getting clapped by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
00:14:50Scott doesn't have it should they move on Bill Belichick's waiting on call number two over here
00:14:54So we can get him in next year
00:14:55The season is a disaster and the same thing with Jalen hurts
00:14:58It was like nobody thought he wasn't going to be a good quarterback
00:15:01But just not getting any credit and saying like boy if this team had any other quarterback
00:15:05They would be a really good performer that you can trust
00:15:08So these two two players coaches and player sort of galvanized each other by saying like look
00:15:13We know we're good. Nobody likes us. We don't care. Let's still get the job done at this point
00:15:18So from looking at the season in totality, it was a crazy rollercoaster ride, but understand Ben
00:15:24This rollercoaster wasn't ups and downs. This was
00:15:27slower start to the season after the by an
00:15:30Absolute rocket ship to the moon which saw them lose only one game because their MVP
00:15:36Quarterback got knocked out in the first quarter and ended up losing a double-digit lead on the road to Washington
00:15:42Who was an NFC champion finalist in that season? It wasn't as if that this team was like, hey
00:15:48I hope we can get it together. Maybe we'll be the hot football team once the playoffs start
00:15:51They were tremendous and still have the doubters. How about game number one of the playoffs? Oh my goodness
00:15:57The one team you don't want to face the best seven seed in the history of the sport
00:16:01The Packers wiped them out the Rams come to town the hottest team in football. Oh my goodness
00:16:06Nobody wants to see them handle their business Wow, Washington
00:16:09Maybe the best quarterback in football even better than Patrick Mahomes is Jaden Daniels wiped the floor at them
00:16:15Oh, no, here come the Chiefs where nobody can win
00:16:18They're headed for a three-peat and they're going to make history wipe the floor with them, too
00:16:23So from a fan perspective for me, I caught myself riding that wave saying this is unbelievable
00:16:29Enjoy every minute you have and the differences as well Ben where you put this in perspective from 2017
00:16:35We'll never get that feeling again. That was right down to the wire
00:16:38It was Tom Brady the Eagles have never won a world championship
00:16:41It was unbelievable to see and I tell everybody maybe the best night of my life
00:16:44But yesterday watching that game with no stress in the second half
00:16:48Understand that nobody can tell the Eagles like hey, everybody eventually gets one. That was a fluke
00:16:52They got to Lombardi's now and used to getting back to the Super Bowl and I was telling my daughter last night
00:16:58you don't understand this when
00:17:011980s and 1990s Ben the Super Bowl wasn't for Eagles fans
00:17:04It was to have fun with your friends and you know
00:17:06Hey, the game's gonna be a blowout and look at that another Cowboys victory another, you know
00:17:10Giants victory at this point another Washington victory at this point
00:17:14So now you take a look at the Philadelphia Eagles going like we are used to this now one of those gold standards that Jeffrey
00:17:19Laurie said 20 years ago where we never won a Super Bowl and people left the Philadelphia Eagles today the gold
00:17:26standard of the NFL
00:17:28There is no doubt about it and Donnie the gold standard of the NFC was zero doubt or inclination
00:17:34By any means Philadelphia has played in three Super Bowls in the last eight years
00:17:39They have won two Lombardi trophies in that span
00:17:43Sure
00:17:43The 49ers have made the NFC championship game four of the last six season sure the Detroit Lions are on the come-up
00:17:51Continuing to attempt to make history. But when you look at the pecking order in the NFC, it is Philadelphia and then
00:17:59Everybody else and I do just want to take a moment because Donnie
00:18:04I picked the Eagles to win a Super Bowl this year and one of the main reasons
00:18:08Was in Saquon Barkley or a great draft by Howie Roseman. Once again, it was the elevation in coordinators
00:18:15tell it more offensively, but mainly Vic Fangio on the defensive side a guy that entered the NFL in
00:18:241986 where in New Orleans as the linebackers coach for
00:18:29nearly a decade of the Dome Patrol of the Saints in
00:18:331986 nearly four decades later will wear his first
00:18:37Super Bowl ring if Vic Fangio were to ever emote any kind of sentiment Donnie
00:18:43It would probably be that of gratitude to be a Super Bowl champion and finally get to the mountaintop
00:18:49last night what a performance by Philadelphia a
00:18:53Defensive defensive display of the ages in a Super Bowl in NFL history
00:18:59And when you look around that Eagles locker room, of course, it always starts with the quarterback position
00:19:06That is Jalen Hurts who did not enter
00:19:08Super Bowl 59 as the favorite even on his own team to win the MVP award
00:19:14but for the second time in three years
00:19:16Was the best individual player on a football field in the biggest football game of a season if we are ever
00:19:24Going to hear anything out of Jalen Hurts. This would be the time
00:19:28was able to execute able to execute and I think the main thing I'll point to is you
00:19:35Being able to find ways to win in multiple ways, you know
00:19:38we've been able to be dominant on the ground and we've been able to be efficient in the past game and
00:19:44Do what needs to be done
00:19:46When it needs to be done, you know
00:19:48and I think over the course of our year you guys have heard me say just because we don't doesn't mean we can't and
00:19:55When you hear a statement like that, I think it always comes down to what is your missing?
00:19:59Well, why are you doing this? I'm doing it to win. You know, I do it to win
00:20:03This team approaches it just to do the same thing. That's what it's about. You know, I don't I'm not gonna look back at
00:20:10anything and
00:20:12Remember anything that someone said about me or an opinion that was had I'm gonna think about the championships that we won
00:20:18Donnie we asked the question in the build-up to Super Bowl Sunday
00:20:22Could the Eagles win if Saquon Barkley was stifled the answer a resounding
00:20:28Yes, because of the performance of Jalen Hurts nearly 300 total yards of offense from the quarterback alone
00:20:35Three total touchdowns and for a second consecutive Super Bowl for Philadelphia
00:20:40With the Eagles leading rusher with 72 yards on the ground again out dueling Patrick Mahomes in
00:20:48Finally, we'll go with a Lombardi trophy back to Philly
00:20:52It's tremendous to and also Ben, you know
00:20:54I love nostalgia like just a nostalgia of the Superdome the first Super Bowl played there was with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Raiders at
00:21:01The time by Oakland Raiders at the time. Yeah, they settled up there and they lost that game
00:21:05but can you imagine all the great moments in that building that he's included with because we talk about the Rose Bowl which may be
00:21:10The best venue of football in the history of the sport, but when you're talking about just big game cities
00:21:14It's New Orleans like Michael Jordan made a big shot there. Keith smart made a big shot there, you know
00:21:18William refrigerator Perry scored a touchdown there so many big boxing match your Super Bowls went down Brady got his first day
00:21:24They've been a teary kick like so many big things that now Jalen Hurts can say I won a Super Bowl
00:21:28I'm an MVP and I did it in one of the biggest dome places
00:21:32You can do it with the history of the sport
00:21:34You need to rewrite because you know what there's gonna be more highlights in New Orleans
00:21:37But he's part of that and just to see him on that podium
00:21:40Still not seem like he's excited saying I'm still taking this all in maybe today
00:21:44He's a little bit more exciting because you know what? Damn it. I did that
00:21:48Puffing a victory cigar. I think
00:21:51appreciating the moment even if he's not sharing that in full earnest, we'll hear from Nick Sirianni a
00:21:58a second Super Bowl appearance in three years, but after a disastrous skid to end out
00:22:052023 dropping five of their final six
00:22:08including on the road in the postseason and the opening round against the Buccaneers in starting this
00:22:142024 campaign just to add to Nick Sirianni was hearing it from everybody in
00:22:21Philadelphia media maybe even players and
00:22:24Certainly fans even in his own home stadium
00:22:28But Nick Sirianni now gets the final word as a Super Bowl champion. Yeah, he just keeps getting better
00:22:35He knows how to win
00:22:37He does a great job of being able to block out all the outside noise
00:22:40I think it's you know, I find it funny when it's like, you know, well Jalen is good
00:22:47He's got a good team around him. Like that's football. Like again, you cannot be great without the greatness of others like
00:22:54Jalen can't do it by himself. He needs AJ. He needs that offensive line. He needs Saquon and
00:22:59And vice versa, you know the reason Saquon has a special year
00:23:03And I'm you know, not only the offensive line, but the attention that Jalen commit commands for the run game
00:23:10He's special Jalen special
00:23:12and
00:23:14you know the
00:23:16criticism just blows my mind because I think he I think he's so special and won so many games and
00:23:22Works his butt off and
00:23:24Just continues to get better can block out everything and just focus on the task at hand of getting better
00:23:30Putting yourself position to win
00:23:33Each week and he does a great job of that and he had an unbelievable game today when we needed him to
00:23:39because when you sell out to stop, you know that we knew how good of a coach and how good of a defense that we
00:23:45were playing today and
00:23:47It'll but when you when you sell out to stop one thing another thing opens and
00:23:51Jalen was able to take advantage of that today and
00:23:54Man, he's a him and this team our world champs forever
00:23:59And the Chiefs did contain Saquon Barkley 25 yard or 25 carries only 57 yards on the ground
00:24:06Just 2.3 yards per pop but for a second consecutive Super Bowl for the Eagles
00:24:11Their quarterback is the leading rusher and this time with a Lombardi trophy
00:24:15Donnie you heard Nick Sirianni addressed the criticism and the questions perhaps
00:24:19The Jalen Hurts had at the upper echelon of being a quarterback that could guide his team to a Super Bowl championship
00:24:27I think some of those criticisms were also pointed at Nick Sirianni
00:24:31Could he be the managerial and CEO head coach to lead his team to a championship the answer to both of those?
00:24:39Questions again a resounding. Yes last night
00:24:43Absolutely, but by the way, let's take you back to Monday night down in New Orleans at the Superdome where the media scrum was out
00:24:48Here, you know Saquon Barkley had out of 30 rows of people in front of them
00:24:52So when you made your way around the field, you say, okay, there's Jalen Hurts over here. You know, there's Devante Smith
00:24:57There's AJ Brown the opposite of you to Nick Sirianni. So wow, look at this man
00:25:00You got maybe 10 reporters in front of him asking questions. You could probably get right in there and say, you know what?
00:25:06Hey Nick, how do you feel about the Super Bowl?
00:25:07The problem is he answers questions were like a 30-minute soliloquy of how he started high school in his grade school and his high school
00:25:14Here which made me laugh because like I think I get but same thing you just heard there
00:25:17It's a lot of talking but not saying a lot, which is the only criticism
00:25:20I have of Sirianni at this point because he does sort of meander on was just a little anecdote for Monday
00:25:25Like hey, ask him a quick question. There is no such thing as a quick question with Sirianni
00:25:29But what he was saying was correct
00:25:30And that's why I talked about that kinship between him and Jalen Hurts the outside noise
00:25:34Which is an avalanche towards both of them
00:25:36And can you imagine even with this season?
00:25:39Sirianni loses like that's two losses in a row to the Kansas City Chiefs winning three in a row back to back to back
00:25:45Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid
00:25:46It's no slight but my goodness that you know
00:25:49The focus of the press on Hurts and Sirianni would have been incredible
00:25:53So it's nice to see them feeling vindicated after this game. Like can I breathe a little bit now?
00:25:57I think I'm a pretty good damn coach and over the first five years of my career
00:26:01There's been not a better start in NFL history and I have a Super Bowl which I just beat Andy Reid in the same with
00:26:07Jalen Hurts
00:26:07So I agree then with a lot of what he was saying this like sort of the I told you so and I can't believe you're
00:26:13Doubting this guy and yes, he is special and maybe now you'll see that Jalen Hurts is special
00:26:19There is always that relationship right between the two most important positions within your NFL
00:26:24Organization head coach in
00:26:26quarterback and when both are doubted at the top level of the sport to win a Super Bowl to have that as a part of
00:26:33Your resume and legacy forever. Yeah, that's kind of the final statement you ever need to make something that Patrick Mahomes
00:26:41Understands very well, but Donnie in the joy of victory
00:26:44There is the other side the agony of defeat the three-peat hope for KC
00:26:49Comes up short the hope for history
00:26:53Was not able to be attained last night in New Orleans and for Patrick Mahomes
00:26:58It was a pedestrian dare
00:27:00I say poor performance that we have not often seen in these kind of games in these kind of spots
00:27:0721 of 32 for
00:27:10257 yards three touchdowns two of those thrown in the final three minutes of regulation when the game was truly out of hand
00:27:17really all three touchdowns thrown in the final 16 minutes of regulation when the game was already out of hand and
00:27:24three turnovers two interceptions and a
00:27:28Fumble on a strip sack as well that resulted in 17 points Donnie
00:27:33We have often said and deservedly so in this historic dynastic run for Kansas City
00:27:39If Patrick Mahomes is there they are always going to have the pedigree
00:27:43They are always going to have the benefit of the doubt last night. It was quite the opposite
00:27:49What did you make of Mahomes performance against the Eagles?
00:27:52It was incredible in the opposite direction that you would feel for Patrick Mahomes because you saw some of the highlight plays
00:27:58The first touchdown the game Mahomes rose out there was a laser beam on a comeback route there to save you're worthy
00:28:03That was great. How about late in the game, even though it was backups, you know what?
00:28:07Let me sit in the pocket and throw an absolute dart down the field for a 50 plus yard touchdown pass. Those were great
00:28:12How about the back shoulder fade to the Andre Hopkins?
00:28:14But the problem was is you made too many mistakes early on and Patrick Mahomes said it best also
00:28:19After the game when he was talking about you know, what I didn't play my best
00:28:23I can't turn the football over and there's some turnovers or worse than others been a pick six is the worst thing you can have
00:28:30But you know what?
00:28:30The second worst thing is throw a pick inside your own red zone that deliberately goes right for a touchdown one or two plays later
00:28:37You can't do that against foot good football teams and he understood that and told that tale at the podium
00:28:42But also this wasn't like Will Levis throwing these again. He's gonna do that
00:28:45This was Patrick Mahomes on the biggest stage where he usually dominates looking like he was a rookie out there making rookie mistakes
00:28:52That's unheard of no regroup. That's a great football team
00:28:56It's still Andy really said he's coming back next year
00:28:58And as long as you have Patrick Mahomes, you're always going to have a chance
00:29:01But that shows you how dominant that defense was to make maybe the most talented quarterback in the history of the NFL look pedestrian
00:29:07We'll talk about the legacy of this team and we'll hear from both Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes up next
00:29:15Live right here on the early line. We continue our reactions in this opening hour to everything
00:29:21We saw in Super Bowl 59 the praise for Philadelphia in the agony of a defeat for Kansas City
00:29:28The hope for a three-peat to become the first
00:29:32Super Bowl champion ever to win three consecutive Lombardi trophies comes up well short last night in
00:29:39New Orleans, we talked about Patrick Mahomes
00:29:41Of course, there is also his top target in their illustrious postseason career together in Travis Kelsey
00:29:49Donnie when the game script was so out of hand, of course, you're not gonna put up the stats that everybody anticipated
00:29:55But Travis Kelsey did not last night only four grabs for 39 yards
00:30:00Well under his final receiving yards prop of 59 and a hook
00:30:04He had gone over that number in the last three Super Bowls
00:30:09Kansas City had played with at least 83 yards in all three did not hit pay dirt
00:30:14And of course did not get down on a knee as the confetti was falling in
00:30:19Inside the Super Bowl, we'll give you our reactions to what we think this means for the dynasty run in Kansas City
00:30:27But before we do that
00:30:28Let's hear from the big man himself Big Red Andy Reid on what this loss means for the Chiefs at this moment
00:30:37compliments are
00:30:38To our fans and all the support that they've given us
00:30:41Today was a rough day
00:30:43Really play well
00:30:45Any of the phases didn't coach good enough they did a nice job
00:30:49I'm proud of our guys though for the battle the fight that they put in throughout the year and
00:30:55All the games that they played here over the last few years. So I
00:31:01Had goes off to the guys for that
00:31:04We'll learn from this like most games here when you don't do very well you learn from it as a coach you learn from it as
00:31:10a player
00:31:12Donnie I take Andy Reid at his word. Yes, it is the end to this historic run of the dynasty component
00:31:21For Kansas City, the three-peat goes out of the window
00:31:25Although they did make history as the first ever back-to-back Super Bowl champion to even appear in a third
00:31:31consecutive Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes is only 29 and yes, there are going to be changes
00:31:37But Andy Reid is going to be back as well
00:31:40This era has come to an end
00:31:43perhaps in Kansas City
00:31:45But the Chiefs are going to have a lot to say about who wins the AFC in Super Bowls for many more years to come
00:31:52Absolutely, they will look at their season record Ben says 15 and 2 that's not really the case last game of the season
00:31:59They benched all their starters and took a loss
00:32:00This is a team that lost one football game up to the Super Bowl
00:32:04And yes, there were bad breaks and bounces that went against them
00:32:07But that's what they do. You provide your own luck when your quality football team
00:32:11Just like the Kansas City Chiefs and Andy understands this you can't win every big game
00:32:15It's not a best-of-seven either bring your a game
00:32:18But if you don't bring it you're subject to get beat and that's what happened in the Super Bowl
00:32:22Did we anticipate it being down 40 to 6 late in that football game?
00:32:25I don't think anybody had that on their bingo card, but understand what he's saying
00:32:28This is a week-to-week league here
00:32:30If you don't bring your a game sometimes you get people also the future is bright as you said
00:32:34You still have the most talented quarterback in the NFL probably for another decade and Andy Reid isn't getting younger
00:32:40but you don't keep young having a really good football team and an
00:32:43Organization that has 100% support the one thing that Andy knows next year
00:32:47He doesn't have to go to Brett beaches GM and say please get me a pass catcher. Please get me another defensive end
00:32:53They will make that happen before him because when you're in that window of greatness
00:32:57You tend to push those chips in and understand this
00:32:59I can't believe Kansas City won the Super Bowl last year. Let alone even making it back to the Super Bowl this year
00:33:04They're not the most talented team. They have the best coach and quarterback
00:33:07Yes, they do, but they made their own luck and breaks by winning all of those close games
00:33:12Eventually that's going to run out
00:33:14So no shame in their game for Kansas City and next year Ben we start talking about the season and what that's going to entail
00:33:20Is anybody good back out of the one team?
00:33:22I'm not taking is the Kansas City Chiefs to get back to the Super Bowl. No, they're gonna be right up there again
00:33:28Yes, they certainly are because seven seasons with Patrick Mahomes is the starting quarterback of the Chiefs
00:33:33They have at least played in the AFC championship game in all seven appearing in a Super Bowl
00:33:39Five times already with three Lombardi trophies
00:33:43But now let's hear from Patrick Mahomes on where he feels last night went wrong
00:33:48You know, I didn't have to say much, you know
00:33:51I thought other leaders Chris Jones, especially
00:33:54spoke and
00:33:56Like we talked about I mean it hurts. I mean it's gonna hurt for a while. But how can you respond from it?
00:34:03we
00:34:05We have a great football team. We still have a young football team and
00:34:08A lot of these guys will be their first time having defeat in a season and how can you get better?
00:34:13How can you not be satisfied with just getting here and taking your game to the next level and that starts with me?
00:34:19And the other leaders on this team, but it'll feed throughout the entire team and hopefully we can come back next season
00:34:25And put up a better effort
00:34:27And we expect Kansas City to do just that it's the end of our one
00:34:32But we continue the Super Bowl reactions in our two
00:34:35We welcome you to our number two live right here on the early line on sports grid. It is a Monday morning
00:34:42following Super Bowl Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles a
00:34:46Super Bowl champion for the second time in eight years the second time in franchise history a second
00:34:53Lombardi trophy replica will be placed on Donny right side set in just a few days
00:34:59We continue our reactions into this second. What was that? Take a couple more days. It's a while, you know bless
00:35:05Yeah, it takes it takes probably like a month month and a half maybe so I get you know
00:35:09You the Eagles have their celebration which is gonna have the parade on Friday. The Lombardi will be there
00:35:14So I have to have sort of one that's gonna be in a couple months like you gotta you know
00:35:17Cook a nice, you know meal up for lunch because since we don't eat dinners around this part and we'll put the Lombardi there
00:35:22We'll still have a party around it. So that's what we're getting ready for in a couple months
00:35:26Your own personal parade. Maybe it will be a nice day in April or May
00:35:31No, you can go out on the back porch and smoke a snowy like they were doing in the Eagles
00:35:36Multiple in the Eagles locker room last night as well Donny before we continue to move forward
00:35:42Let's look back on the end of this dynastic run for Kansas City. The dynasty very well could continue but this era
00:35:50Especially in the hunt for history to be the first three-peat champion in the Super Bowl era ever in the National Football League
00:35:56Trying to become the first team ever to win three consecutive Lombardi trophies
00:36:01We put a pin in it now because this run has come to a close
00:36:06You mentioned it when Patrick Mahomes was out there in 16 regular season games
00:36:11Kansas City won 15 of them. You will see the overall record be 17 and
00:36:173 but really with Mahomes as the starter and ending the game
00:36:22They won 17 of 19 12 of those 17 by a single score in Donny
00:36:29There was an idea that certainly at that point the karmic luck of coming out on that side
00:36:35Often feeling like they were pulling off magical moments to escape with a victory would catch up to them
00:36:41It did last night in New Orleans not snapping a 17-game win streak in single possession games
00:36:48But getting absolutely blown out by the birds
00:36:52So this era is done, but it seems as though Casey will be back in the overall legacy
00:36:59Randy Reed in Kansas City and certainly for Patrick Mahomes as Tom Brady was up in the booth
00:37:06Calling a game that maybe could have changed the entirety of the goat debate
00:37:11How will this loss and the loss in Super Bowl 55?
00:37:15Factor into how we view Patrick Mahomes as the greatest to ever do it
00:37:20It's a great question. You bring up to because let's just it man
00:37:24It's hard to get to the Super Bowl and it's even harder to win it
00:37:27We understand that if we equate it to the NBA terms here LeBron has had a lot of success here
00:37:32But let's just say you see Patrick Mahomes is the greatest of all time and he gets back to another Super Bowl band and they lose
00:37:38It and they go. Oh, well, maybe he doesn't have it. Even though he's won multiple Super Bowls
00:37:43It's unfair, but it is fair in the realm of when you're talking about the greatest of all time that matters
00:37:49What's Tom Brady have seven rings out of ten Super Bowls?
00:37:52Is he seven and three I believe overall lost two to the Giants went to the Philadelphia Eagles
00:37:56So when you line that up you say, okay, that's the measuring stick
00:37:59He's got to get the seven
00:38:00But he can't get the seven while getting to 14 Super Bowls and go seven and seven because you're great
00:38:06Once you get to that big game, what's the performance there Joe Montana doesn't have the most rings in NFL history
00:38:11But you know, we still talk about him. He went to 41 all four. That's the way you get it
00:38:15Then and put yourself out there. What have you done for me lately?
00:38:17Yes
00:38:18But what have you done for me in that big game in the overall scope of things now?
00:38:22Nothing changes for me for Patrick home because I think he's gonna go down as either the best quarterback of all time or at least
00:38:28These second best just based on how young he is and what we think is going to happen over the next couple years
00:38:33Would it be shocked? Hey, even if it picks up one Super Bowl win over the next five years. That's still an
00:38:38Outrageously crazy good career for Patrick Mahomes, but for me, it doesn't change a lot
00:38:43it just says you know what might slow the train down Ben just a little bit because he got three in a row and
00:38:49Tacked on four and he would have win the MVP
00:38:51It's like wait a second this guy could win six Super Bowls six MVPs and have a three-peat here
00:38:56Then you're already saying I don't care how many rings Brady has or how many Super Bowls he got to this guy's the best ever
00:39:02Do it if Patrick Mahomes would have won last night
00:39:06He would have had a distinction that Tom Brady could not match
00:39:10That would be the first quarterback and first team ever to win three consecutive Super Bowl championships
00:39:16They come up short of that Tom Brady won three Lombardi trophies in his first four years in the National Football League
00:39:23Technically first five but first four four years as a starter and then took the past nine years
00:39:30to win
00:39:32Another which is what they did in a matchup a couple of years later
00:39:38So again, Tom Brady with the longevity has seven Super Bowl championships seven Super Bowl rings
00:39:44but I believe the age was
00:39:4637 and then Tom won four after that age because he played 22 seasons in the National Football League
00:39:54And was fully healthy for two decades of that so that will be the next test for Patrick Mahomes
00:40:00But at 29 years old
00:40:02We know the longevity and at least many more chances of contending for that Lombardi trophy are going to be there in
00:40:09Kansas City, but this dynastic run this hunt for history and three consecutive Super Bowls now comes to a close
00:40:17Let's talk about the actual wagers that you could have had to make some money in the final football game of
00:40:23The season Jalen hurts to hit pay dirt a minus 120 number at close second best price only behind Saquon Barkley
00:40:31Who did not score? He was the first touchdown scorer of the game AJ Brown scored for
00:40:37Philadelphia he has scored in each of his two Super Bowl appearances with the birds Devante Smith
00:40:43scoring the first ever
00:40:46Touchdown receiving or rushing by an Alabama player in
00:40:50Super Bowl history at least drafted out of Alabama in the National Football League
00:40:56And how about on his 22nd birthday?
00:40:59Cooper to Jean capping off an incredible rookie season his first career
00:41:03Int in his time in the National Football League taking it back to the house put Philadelphia up
00:41:0917 zip early in that opening half sure the Chiefs
00:41:14Scored a couple of touchdowns in the final 15 and a half minutes of regulation
00:41:19But again the story really on the Eagles side
00:41:22Yes
00:41:23and by the way Cooper to Jean I believe is somewhere around
00:41:25250 to 1 to be the MVP of the Super Bowl after that pick six here you realize it might be a blowout and you
00:41:30Don't need to get big quarterback player big running back play
00:41:32He was certainly in the mix
00:41:33But you are looking at my two favorite guys to score touchdown initially one of those was AJ Brown
00:41:39I bet that yesterday one of my favorite bets plus 180
00:41:41I did like Jalen hurts to score a touchdown
00:41:43Minus 115 as it was for the most part of last week didn't end up betting that but also thought on the other side
00:41:48You know Kareem hunt who didn't score would have been a factor in that game, but that game was so out of whack
00:41:52There was no way they were running the football late in that game on the goal line
00:41:55So you do see some of the usual suspects that if you're just betting a game
00:41:58But the big one missing there right say Quan Barkley overall hundred nine and a half as his property doesn't go near that
00:42:04Most people probably had him in some sort of touchdown parlay to find the end zone
00:42:07I thought he would have done that as well
00:42:09But for me, you know looking at AJ Brown is my favorite at plus 180
00:42:12That was the one I was really happy with cashing in and the way we go
00:42:15But the other price points there's a few worthy probably expectations there
00:42:18Yeah, DeAndre Hopkins woke up finally and scored a touchdown
00:42:21But in a runaway game the running backs really weren't too involved in the overall scoring there
00:42:26That's very true Xavier worthy. Perhaps the only bright spot silver lining for KC last night mostly in garbage time
00:42:34But still eight grabs on eight targets for a hundred and fifty seven yards and
00:42:39two
00:42:40Touchdowns, I believe it is now for the seventh time in the last 11 Super Bowls
00:42:45We have a player at least one player in a Super Bowl to score
00:42:51Multiple times the rookie wide receiver in the speedster out of Texas putting that on full display
00:42:57Last night Donnie perhaps because of the game script
00:43:00But also because of Philadelphia's front the Chiefs had just 11 carries as a team
00:43:06For 49 yards in total Mahomes four runs for 25 yards the fewest yards
00:43:12He has had on the ground ever in his Super Bowl career
00:43:15Three carries for nine yards for Kareem hunt three carries for seven yards for Isaiah
00:43:21Pacheco part of that is because Kansas City was basically trailing all game long in
00:43:27For a majority of the game by multiple scores
00:43:30But that was just kind of crazy to see and we thought it would be a big component of the game
00:43:34Could Kansas City have success on the ground to keep pace with Philadelphia?
00:43:39That was not the case last night a couple final thoughts on the Super Bowl
00:43:44But the NFL offseason is here and it is not slow to start next
00:43:49Some final Super Bowl profits that you can only bet for the biggest football game of a season on Super Bowl
00:43:57Sunday Donnie a profitable day for me in terms of a lot of these bets
00:44:03Shortest touchdown for the seventh time in the last 11 Super Bowls under one and a half yards
00:44:09Maybe even eighth time in the last 11 courtesy of Johan Dotson being down at the one
00:44:16And of course a tush push for
00:44:19Philadelphia longest touchdown over 34 and a half that happened multiple times on some deep throws to Devante Smith and
00:44:26Xavier worthy longest field goal over Jake Elliott
00:44:30What a night it was ball off his foot last night sounded like an absolute
00:44:34Cannon who had struggled from deep this year one of a entering
00:44:39Did hit a 50 yarder and a couple of 48 yarders over 30 of 47 and a half over?
00:44:4526 and a half by the way for the shortest field goal the bet I cashed and thank God
00:44:51We had a couple of false starts or disconcerting signals illegal snaps
00:44:56Whatever the declaration was for Philadelphia because Jake Elliott drilled a 24 yarder
00:45:02but a false start moved it back to the 29 or a 29 yard field goal attempt and
00:45:08Converted we saw multiple two-point attempts. We saw multiple two-point conversions tails never fails in
00:45:14Yellow green that winning Gatorade color for Philadelphia
00:45:20Matching their primary color as well
00:45:22Dear that's not sure if you guys talked about those props during your week in the big easy
00:45:26But it was astounding to see the colors
00:45:30Shift in terms of the Gatorade odds on the fan duel sports book overnight purple was the favorite the Chiefs were the favorite
00:45:38They had been using purple as their Gatorade color the last two
00:45:42Lombardi trophy wins and then quickly flip to yellow green
00:45:46Maybe an indication that Eagles would be on the right side as the shortest price. Yeah, it's pretty funny
00:45:52We talked about that problem Smith
00:45:54excuse me specifically with the Gatorade and Joe Lisa's cap was he thinks it's gonna be clear because
00:45:59Andy Reid said that he wants to look good on the podium once they win the third Super Bowl
00:46:03So that was his handicap on the clear which obviously didn't come in because the Eagles won and they're not being lying green
00:46:08How about the longest kick there and also Jake Elliot is he one of the best postseason kickers in history only has one total miss
00:46:14In his career in the postseason, which was against Washington from 54 yards
00:46:18But in the Super Bowl has made clutch kick after clutch click understand this to that first kick of 48 yards
00:46:24After the fall start that was a 7-nothing game. You missed that you give the kids to the Chiefs the ball roughly at midfield
00:46:30Maybe that could have been a momentum builder
00:46:33That entire way through but everything like the under one and a half makes too much sense with the Eagles because all they do is
00:46:40Pulverize you from the one yard line on a simple quarterback sneak that came in easy. So and yes tails for me
00:46:45I always vote tails in the Super Bowl and it came up tails again
00:46:48No handicap on that at that point, but it does make sense
00:46:51Popular prop is you're right the longest field goal. What a better way to win that or how about if you're only under on that?
00:46:56Hey feel goes good. Move it back five more yards smack. You'll go win it by a half of a yard
00:47:01That's tremendous those wins when you know somebody's on the other side going like this is ridiculous
00:47:06II what a baby and it wasn't even like a false start where like the tackle and I like the
00:47:10Long snapper got called for the false start something you never see
00:47:15Couple of changing places early to Han Dotson down if you had his number to score or maybe even the phrase down
00:47:23Oh boy, you hate that immediate replay assist
00:47:27but for me
00:47:28Jalen Hurd said plus 600 to be the first touchdown score in Super Bowl 59
00:47:32Because of that exact idea that the Eagles would get down to the two or one yard line and use the brotherly shove
00:47:38Oh, man, did I absolutely love it Jake Elliott his points prompt for the game six and a half
00:47:45He finished with 16. He had missed three extra points already in the playoff run for Philadelphia
00:47:52Perfect last night perfect in his field goal tries as well
00:47:55Four four four was one of eight from 50 plus this year hit a 50-yarder last night Harrison
00:48:02Butcher did not attempt a single kick extra point or otherwise
00:48:07He had the higher points brought from a kicker perspective at seven and a half
00:48:12Entering maybe if you were up in the great white north with our friends up in Canada on Fandor
00:48:18You had a much you had plenty more options in terms of the halftime show special appearances for song for Kendrick Lamar
00:48:25Buddy, right side. Did you like the halftime show last night inside the Superdome?
00:48:31Now it's brutal and like I sent a tweet out last night
00:48:34Imagine if you are a football fan
00:48:36But you don't have a kinship here to the Chiefs and or the Eagles and let's just say you did have a kinship to
00:48:41The Kansas City Chiefs that wasn't a great game. So if I'm the casual fan, I look at them like
00:48:46Commercials absolutely nothing stood out halftime show
00:48:50Brutal game itself brutal
00:48:52I want to see what the ratings for this Super Bowl actually are when it's all said to be high in the Philadelphia area
00:48:58Absolutely
00:48:58But people are heading for the exits at halftime and for me and I'm actually happy here because I get stressed out to win Eagles
00:49:05Games as you know, Ben
00:49:06I really enjoyed the Rihanna performance a couple years ago at the Eagles with a 10-point lead and the Eagles collapsed in the second half
00:49:12But this one I know interesting Kendrick Lamar took the pup up and down the street here for a quick walk and the neighborhood
00:49:18Was on fire at the half. So apparently they had the same ideas as me
00:49:22Why watch this halftime show we could party in the streets and yell and scream as much as we want
00:49:26Then you go back in for the second half
00:49:28So Kendrick Lamar for me actually good performance because I didn't want to watch it didn't miss anything
00:49:33Walk the dogs and the Eagles won. So maybe it was a good halftime show. I
00:49:36Thought it was fantastic the inclusion of Samuel L. Jackson a great performer Serena Williams out there doing the crip walk
00:49:43Listen, the Chiefs lost bad Patrick Mahomes had a tough night for his career legacy
00:49:49Nobody down worse than Drake right now in the generational run that not like us and Kendrick has had in the last four five
00:49:57Six months on full center stage in New Orleans at a Super Bowl
00:50:02Just to note last year's Super Bowl was a record between the Chiefs and the Niners in terms of TV viewership
00:50:10123 point four million viewers
00:50:13They expect this year's numbers to eclipse that we'll see
00:50:17If frankly a bad football game is going to stand in the way of that record viewership. That was anticipated
00:50:25Because it was a bad football game. Even if the Chiefs came up short Donnie
00:50:29I still expected this game to be tight as the odds makers did as well
00:50:3418 cents of difference on the money line a total at 48 and a half
00:50:39It was anything but it was a poor football game in our final one of the season
00:50:44Yes, it was and by the way, like my final score prediction was 31 to 20 Eagles
00:50:48Oh, what a homer pick let's understand
00:50:50Like I wasn't gonna pick the Eagles in a close game because the Chiefs always been close game
00:50:54So I thought the way the Eagles would win is hopefully they would have a double-digit lead and they did so sort of worked out
00:50:59My favor just by default on what you thought was gonna happen a lot of plus money available in the alt spreads if you thought that
00:51:06Would be the case
00:51:07It's sure enough. It was the rest of the National Football League
00:51:12live right here on the early line the
00:51:142024 NFL season now officially in the books the Philadelphia Eagles a
00:51:20Super Bowl champion in Super Bowl 59 in the big easy
00:51:25We will continue to celebrate Philadelphia the pinnacle of the sport achieved by the Eagles, but Donnie
00:51:32It's officially the NFL offseason. All right, are we done with football?
00:51:36Absolutely
00:51:36not the offseason still king around the National Football League in plenty of news in the lead-up to
00:51:43Super Bowl Sunday and even in the weekend including yesterday Donnie in the end of an error
00:51:50That's not a typo the end of an error in New York
00:51:55Aaron Rodgers two-year tenure with the Jets is now officially coming to a close a new regime
00:52:01Led by Aaron Glenn and Darren Moogie. They have decided Aaron Rodgers is not going to return as their quarterback
00:52:08This upcoming season according to Jake laser of Fox Sports
00:52:13Drs Aaron Rodgers flew back to New Jersey last week to meet with the Jets brass
00:52:18About his future with the team only to be told by the Jets brass
00:52:22We're making a move in a different direction at the quarterback position can't blame them now
00:52:28We wait on Aaron Rodgers to see what his future is going to be in the NFL
00:52:3420 NFL seasons now 41 years old. Will he return to the National Football League? That is the question
00:52:43by the way Jets fans
00:52:46Accountability as I said last week is back in the building. You have to be excited by this news coming out
00:52:51Oh, no, understand this Ben the Jets don't even know who their quarterback is going to be next year
00:52:56but they know it can't be Aaron Rodgers and I said when the new GM comes in and the coach comes in Woody Johnson said like
00:53:02Oh, absolutely
00:53:02They want him back
00:53:03But he'll be back the fact that they were able to get in the room together and say we can't I know you paid this
00:53:08Guy a lot of money. We're gonna eat a lot of dead cab space, but let me build this foundation here
00:53:12We can't go another year and have Aaron Rodgers
00:53:15Sidetracked so many things in the locker room or try to talk to Woody Johnson over the general manager or head coach's head here
00:53:21This shows me that Aaron Glenn understands what it takes to build a football team from the ground up and he's going to do that
00:53:28Yes
00:53:29It's gonna hurt the team because you're gonna eat 50 to 60 million dollars in dead cab space
00:53:33But the sign of a new coach coming in going like I don't care who my quarterback is the record who cares what it will
00:53:39Be let me build this thing. It's a winning organization Jets fans
00:53:43As I said
00:53:45Congratulations, you're on the path to success now and it starts immediately
00:53:49Drs more than likely you saw it there a June 1st
00:53:52Designation meaning if you are cut after June 1st the dead cap hit and what it costs your team
00:53:59Annually is going to be less you are still on the hook for what the remainder of the contract is owed out
00:54:05around 49 million dollars estimated for Aaron Rodgers, but only 14 mil of a dead cap hit for
00:54:132025 if Aaron Rodgers is released after June 1st, which would be the plan now Aaron Rodgers for himself
00:54:21Does he want to come back to the football?
00:54:24Does he want to come back to the National Football League return?
00:54:27Somewhere else or retire DRS. What do you think will be the selection?
00:54:33It's got to be a good spot because this isn't going to be one of those where hey
00:54:36Let me go to a bad football team just looking for a name here to try to sell some tickets
00:54:41Is it one of those intriguing spots where he might be able to land in San Francisco if the Brock party negotiations don't go?
00:54:46Well, it's gonna be the Minnesota Vikings who say you know what JJ McCarthy still at the knee injury still a young kid here
00:54:51Maybe you can learn behind Aaron Rodgers, but let's let's let's be honest here
00:54:55It wasn't as if Aaron Rodgers is leaving the Jets in a power position
00:54:59That was a disastrous two years that showed him getting older and not able to hold up behind an average offensive line
00:55:05So is he just able to go to the 49ers and get it all back together? I don't think so
00:55:10This is a tough look for Aaron Rodgers to me players want to go out on their own terms if he retires
00:55:16He's not going out on his own terms by being let go by the New York Jets
00:55:20Could he follow the Brett Favre arc leave Green Bay after more than a decade and a half?
00:55:26Go to New York and make his way to Minnesota might JJ McCarthy need a shepherd to guide him
00:55:33That we shall see but Donnie to your point. It was never successful during his Jets
00:55:39tenure for offensive snaps into his first year in
00:55:422023 a ruptured left Achilles and in this year as a full starter
00:55:48Never had success the New York Jets only winning five games
00:55:52He was not the MVP winner back-to-back that we saw in 2020 in
00:55:572021 he looked like a 40 plus year old quarterback
00:56:00We'll see what his prospects are around the NFL if he decides to even return
00:56:06I think as Jay Glazer mentioned in his risk port or his scoopage if you will
00:56:12That Aaron Rodgers flying to New York to meet with the Jets could be an indication
00:56:16He still wants to lace him up and play we shall see more news around the NFL
00:56:23Including in San Francisco with Debo Samuel. I'll talk about that up next you're on the early line
00:56:29So it is now the National Football League offseason
00:56:32Which means the drama is at an all-time high when you surround Super Bowl week and weekend in New Orleans
00:56:38You are always going to have some storylines Aaron Rodgers his time in New York is now through
00:56:44Might that be the same story in San Francisco for Debo Samuel who signed a large
00:56:52Extension just a few off seasons ago
00:56:55But in his exit interviews with his head coach Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco brass
00:57:01Debo Samuel basically asked for a way out and has been given permission by the 49ers
00:57:07Organization DRS to seek a potential trade this offseason
00:57:12What do you make of this news for the 49ers entering what feels like a precarious offseason ahead?
00:57:19It is a precarious offseason
00:57:21But the one thing we know this isn't the Debo Sam is that we saw just two short years ago is one of the more
00:57:25Dominant NFL wide receivers looks like he's cooked at this point and has hit the wall and has gained 20 pounds isn't as explosive
00:57:32it doesn't catch the football like he used to so it seems like it's a
00:57:36Marriage that's on its way out at this point and probably best for each one of these guys
00:57:40Including the team and himself to get a fresh start elsewhere
00:57:44Maybe he can rejuvenate his career put some work in in the offseason get back to the quickness because for a while
00:57:49Debo Samuel for me was the toughest tackle in the NFL in the open space didn't matter if he was running a 4 to 40
00:57:56Nobody could tackle the guy and we haven't seen that in quite some time yet
00:57:59So now a new organization might benefit him
00:58:02But also understand this as much as I joke about the salary cap in the NFL and you can make things work
00:58:07This is one of those where they go. Well, we want to pay him around 20 million dollars
00:58:10We want to cut bait then we can sign Brock Purdy
00:58:12We can get a young another wide receiver in here. You get the point that we're going down here
00:58:16But I do think this is ended for a divorce. No question
00:58:20Yeah, I think so as well
00:58:21It will be interesting to see what the Niners can get back in return for Debo Samuel who again in the 2022 offseason
00:58:29So now two years ago
00:58:31Signed a three-year
00:58:3271 million dollar extension through the end of this season due nearly
00:58:3717 and a half million dollars in the 2025 NFL
00:58:42Campaign it was a disastrous season for San Francisco who entered
00:58:472024 as the Super Bowl favorites despite coming up short in the most recent Super Bowl in Sin City
00:58:54against the Kansas City
00:58:55Chiefs and a lot of that was because of gruesome injuries on both sides of the football all year long for the 49ers
00:59:02Unable to remain healthy losing Brendan. I you early Christian McCaffrey was rarely healthy George Kittle dealing with his own injury
00:59:11Issues throughout the season, but you know who really did it
00:59:15Evo Samuel he missed the game or two earlier in the year
00:59:18Donnie when we were wondering what was happening with the 49ers
00:59:22Offensively and a guy who could step up to get the Niners back on track
00:59:26We kept saying where is the ghost of Debo Samuel?
00:59:30You look at the numbers not a terrible year
00:59:3293 total touches for a guy that is both great as a receiver
00:59:36And of course you get the football in his hands on the ground over eight hundred and six scrimmage yards only for total
00:59:44Touchdowns, I'm not sure what the return is for Debo Samuel at this stage of his career back in
00:59:512022-2023 you would think a first rounder if not a couple of early round draft picks
00:59:57Get like a day three guy back to Sam Fran. You might have yourself a deal
01:00:01No, you're you're right about that
01:00:03I'm just like look at the 49er season like they draft a rookie in the draft and his first round as a wide receiver
01:00:09He ends up getting shot and this is a lot of the season Brandon
01:00:12Iuk blows his knee out as a wide receiver Christian McCaffrey barely plays this year
01:00:17It felt like and Debo Sammy has four total touchdowns here
01:00:20Like he should have been eating all over the place saying I can't even handle the workload that this team has given me at this
01:00:25Point so to see him with 93 touches and four total touchdowns and supposed to be the focal point of that offense with all that injuries
01:00:32That's how disappointing a season it was for Debo Samuel and I don't know if you just get it back like how many times he's like
01:00:38Hey, look guy looks like he's cooked and what a year he has the next year
01:00:41No, it usually stays on that same trajectory downward as opposed to going up
01:00:45Donnie did you see him walking around radio row inside the convention in the Big Easy late last week clean and green?
01:00:53He was looking clean and green. Yes, he was first off where the AJ Brown Jersey is ridiculous for a guy and Debo
01:00:59Samuel that almost single-handedly after the 2022 NFC Championship game said that if Brock Purdy was healthy
01:01:06We beat you guys in your own home stadium
01:01:09Yeah, right brother trying to make that a rivalry to wear the Eagles Kelly green jersey was crazy
01:01:14But just to wear something over what looked like he'd been enjoying some beignets
01:01:20Huh?
01:01:24Yeah, oh boy
01:01:26Oh boys all over the place, by the way
01:01:28We did have some nice hair and a couple interviews down there Ben where he we got to have some cuisine on air live
01:01:34So yeah, he might have been doing that same thing just times 10 for what we were doing. I
01:01:39Mean listen, like it looked like he enjoyed himself in the Big Easy
01:01:43It is one of the great party cities in this country a lot of people I'm sure having a ton of fun
01:01:48The RS seven head coaching vacancies in the National Football League at a stage of this offseason
01:01:55Six have been filled as you would expect
01:01:58It's mid-february after a Super Bowl only one remains outstanding
01:02:03That's officially as of right now because it has been expected for the last two three weeks and we
01:02:09Expected to become official at some point here in the next few hours few days this week Eagles offensive coordinator
01:02:16Kellen Moore is expected to become the New Orleans Saints head coach barring any
01:02:22Unexpected developments this a report officially on
01:02:26Saturday night from Adam Schefter, but Donnie
01:02:28it's really what we have known for the last two two and a half weeks or
01:02:32So Kellen Moore will get his first head coaching job will remain in New Orleans
01:02:38Trying to resurrect this Saints offense into 2025 and beyond
01:02:42It's not a great job in New Orleans
01:02:44But understand this when you could walk into that room and flash that ring and say you guys want to be great on offense
01:02:50See what I just did
01:02:50I can sell that to my organization and it was the worst-kept secret over the past week and a half where
01:02:55Everybody was bowing out for the job except for Kellen Moore
01:02:59And it's a shame because we always talk about the timeline the way the NFL all-season moves
01:03:03There should be a moratorium where the end of the season to the Super Bowl
01:03:07Nobody can hire anybody to give everybody a fair chance at that point because the shame of it is the Philadelphia Eagles who probably would
01:03:14Attract the best and the brightest to say boy you want to take over a Kellen Moore you put in one good year
01:03:19You'll probably a head coach as well
01:03:21Everybody's already been hired the Eagles who went to the Super Bowl two years ago lost their offensive and defensive coordinators
01:03:28You saw that turned out
01:03:29They were a mess on offense and defense the following season before riding the ship by getting the great Vic Fangio
01:03:35And it's certainly proven product in Kellen Moore
01:03:37But for Kellen, I can't fault you when there's one of 32 jobs open
01:03:42You'd never had a head coaching job before strike while the irons hot
01:03:45He did that Bobby Slowick was able to do that Ben Johnson was able to do that
01:03:50But hopefully he gets a pretty clean track there down in New Orleans
01:03:53But being a conquering hero now winning in New Orleans the Super Bowl then becoming the Saints head coach
01:03:58They're probably pretty happy down there Ben
01:04:01Listen again, it is not a great situation
01:04:03Mickey Loomis has been the general manager for a very long time a lot of people around the Saints organization not in it
01:04:10But around it think that needs to change to try to guide a new direction in
01:04:15The big easy Keller Moore is 36 years old turns 37 this summer first time head coach a genius
01:04:23Offensive mind in his young career as a coach around the NFL, but Donnie for Philadelphia
01:04:29Now the second time
01:04:31Playing in a Super Bowl in the last three years this time winning a Super Bowl and having to replace
01:04:37Coordinators after 2022 both Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon depart for head coaching jobs now
01:04:44Kellen Moore becomes the head coach in New Orleans. They will have to fill the OC spot in
01:04:51Philly but you would expect Vic Fangio who was maybe the mastermind of all of this team's success in the history
01:04:57We saw out of the Eagles would it remain there as the defensive coordinator?
01:05:02yes, and the good part about that is which is what the Kansas City Chiefs been able to get away with having one of the
01:05:07best defensive coordinators in football never get looked at for a head coaching job because maybe they think he's a little bit too old Vic
01:05:12Fangio actually is all just like Jim Johnson was old in Philadelphia
01:05:16but never getting that look the Eagles are gonna be a big winner because Vic Fangio is probably not gonna get a head coaching job and
01:05:22He's probably just fine with that
01:05:23So at least you have stability on the defensive side now, we don't lose both your offensive and defensive coordinators
01:05:29nearly 70 years old Vic Fangio, but still one of the brightest defensive minds as
01:05:34Was put on full display last night inside the Superdome. That should be some great congruency for Philadelphia
01:05:42entering 2025
01:05:43So what about?
01:05:452025 the Super Bowl 60 on next
01:05:49Sure, it's the first full day of the 2025 NFL offseason
01:05:54But it is never and I mean never too early
01:05:58To look at the odds for the future and the available markets that are already out
01:06:03Let's talk Super Bowl 60 by a man sent to Clara
01:06:08California at Levi's Stadium the home of the 49ers. Here are the Super Bowl 60 odds
01:06:15Entering 2025 if you said my home stadium, that's incorrect my home state hometown would be
01:06:21Hometown that's even honestly like not. Yep. Not too far off. Santa Clara is a beautiful area
01:06:26So I'm not mad about it whatsoever
01:06:28The Chiefs the RS open as our Super Bowl favorites for the 2025 NFL campaign at plus
01:06:36650 Ravens Eagles Bills
01:06:39How about a three-way tie for the second-best odds to hoist that Lombardi trophy in
01:06:44Santa Clara, California seven to one and the Lions round out the top five at a nine to one number
01:06:51Those the five organizations with a three-digit price sub ten to one to win next year's Lombardi trophy
01:06:58Do you have any issue with any of it the Chiefs opening ahead of everybody else as a favorite?
01:07:04The grouping where the Eagles find themselves alongside those other teams from the AFC
01:07:10The Lions being under a ten to one place any issue DRS or does it feel fitting?
01:07:15Not feels fitting and and again, they're all close
01:07:17It's not as if it's like the Chiefs are two to one the Eagles are nine to one at this point
01:07:21They're within 50 cents of each other talking about the Chiefs
01:07:24Buffalo Bills Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens and the Lions just behind them the usual
01:07:29Suspects as we like to say now granted you just saw the Eagles play and win a Super Bowl
01:07:33It is so hard to get back into the NFL
01:07:35They sort of turn the tide against you a first-place schedule. You get the last draft pick in each round at this point
01:07:41So it is set up for parody in the NFL, but it's still gonna be Andy Reid
01:07:45It's still gonna be Patrick Mahomes. The Buffalo Bills are quality team. The Eagles just won the Super Bowl
01:07:50They have a young defense coming back. They won't be able to keep everybody. We'll see what happens there
01:07:54But Howie Roseman usually is a genius
01:07:55We'll probably be able to sign everybody and even add another fantastic player to the team the Ravens always with the pedigree the line
01:08:01Super talented and then some of the performers that underperformed and the Niners the commanders are young and healthy
01:08:07They expect to be back the Bengals if they can keep at least one of those wide receivers happy you get the point here
01:08:13I have no issues with the Kansas City Chiefs once again being there because why they're always
01:08:18In the mix and in the Super Bowl, so why not make them the favorite again?
01:08:22Again, if you would bet the very opening preseason price or offseason number on the Chiefs to win the AFC
01:08:30Championship or a Super Bowl in the last seven years that Patrick Mahomes has been the starting quarterback in Kansas City
01:08:37You would be wildly profitable even with Casey coming up short of a three-peat
01:08:42Last night in New Orleans and Donnie. That is the idea
01:08:46Once again, we heard from Andy Reid in the opening hour
01:08:49We heard from Patrick Mahomes how this group will learn from this moment of an utter defeat in Super Bowl
01:08:5659 the two losses Kansas City has seen in their Super Bowl attempts
01:09:00Have been in blowouts 31 to 6 and Super Bowl 55 against Brady and the Bucs
01:09:06Of course last night by 18, but not even truly that close in the big easy
01:09:12But the odds makers are telling you Chiefs will be fine. Kansas City will be back
01:09:17I do believe correctly
01:09:19KC should have the shortest number in the AFC the Ravens in the bills only 50 cents back
01:09:26That is going to be a very tight grouping Donnie when the AFC championship odds come out this week next week
01:09:32Whatever that might be
01:09:35But again, I would just say to all of you the Chiefs will not enter this year as the reigning champs of a Super Bowl
01:09:42They will enter this year as the reigning AFC champions for a third
01:09:49Consecutive season it is true. They can look pedestrian. They can look poor
01:09:54They can be knocked off their perch in a big way as we saw Philadelphia do last night
01:10:01But until the more Jackson the Ravens change that narrative and Josh Allen and Buffalo
01:10:05Exercise their biggest playoff team in that is Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City
01:10:10I'm not so sure on me rushing to the window to bet it
01:10:14Especially if the gap is a half dollar or maybe even less
01:10:18Exactly, and you know, you know the Kansas City Chiefs are gonna do rebuild that offensive line
01:10:22She rice will be back next year Hollywood Brown and full all season that he's probably healthy to get back in the mix
01:10:28They're gonna be okay
01:10:29If we look also, let's just say the top the top five teams again as you pointed out ten to one or less here
01:10:35Do you know what team I'm worried about and we'll go right over Kansas City Chiefs, you know
01:10:38It's coming back Andy Reed and Steve Spagnola
01:10:40Buffalo Bills probably gonna have the same offensive coordinator and also defensive coordinator, which again would be Sean McDermott
01:10:45You take a look at the Philadelphia Eagles. They're gonna lose one in Kelimore
01:10:48That's a big deal
01:10:48But fans you're coming back and so is their head coach Nick Sirianni the Baltimore Ravens
01:10:53Defensive coordinator offensive coordinator head coach coming back. How about the Detroit Lions Dan Campbell?
01:10:58You love his grit and what he's bringing that the off foundation
01:11:01But they're now losing the engine to their offense with Ben Johnson and also the heartbeat of their defense
01:11:08Which was Aaron Glenn that's gonna be a tough one for the Lions
01:11:11I know they're excited about who they're gonna bring in and who they're gonna make
01:11:14Offensive defensive coordinators keep everything in house and see the way it goes
01:11:17But at the same time for me, those are tough losses Ben Johnson was the best offensive coordinator in football for my money
01:11:25He's gone. Let's see how they respond, but they're still being priced appropriately at nine to one
01:11:29I just out of all of those teams under ten to one Ben. That's the team I worry about the most
01:11:34Yeah, and Donna you would look at Detroit and think it is a promising number for a team that was so banged up and did
01:11:41Lose in the divisional round against the commanders, but you would say hey players are healthy next year
01:11:47This Lions team was an absolute wagon
01:11:49They entered the postseason as the favorites to win a Super Bowl and of course then the NFC
01:11:55But a lot of questions because of the change at coordinators on both sides
01:12:00Can the Lions continue to see that success hoping to play in their first Super Bowl in franchise history
01:12:07That number Donny on Detroit nine to one and the number right behind them on the 49ers at 17 to one the two
01:12:15I am most intrigued by I could not wait to see what San Francisco would be booked at
01:12:19For a team that has been the odds makers favorites for the last half decade
01:12:24But just came off a disastrous season with an uneasy offseason ahead with the biggest outstanding paid tab for Brock Purdy on
01:12:32The horizon which makes the roster they have built around the quarterback that they have had at a discount much harder to maintain
01:12:41season over
01:12:42Season, but if the Niners can get back to what we expect that 17 to one could be a discount
01:12:50And although I would tell you I think the Bengals probably have the best price
01:12:54Relative the value in the AFC at 24 to 1
01:12:58I got to see who's there on week number one at 20 25 before I bet Cincinnati to win a Super Bowl and
01:13:06VPI that's next the Super Bowl 60 odds for
01:13:112025 how about the individual honor in the
01:13:152025 NFL MVP odds the arrest we were not together of course on Friday the day following the NFL honors show on
01:13:23Thursday that crowned Josh Allen the NFL MVP winner in
01:13:282024 in a very tightly contested race
01:13:31against Lamar Jackson
01:13:33Lamar Jackson who was the reigning NFL MVP winner entering this season will enter
01:13:39Next year as the short favorite plus 450 just a half dollar in front of Josh at a 5 to 1 price
01:13:47Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow
01:13:50Co third shortest numbers at 7 to 1 and Jaden Daniels after winning offensive rookie of the year in
01:13:5711 to 1 price which was a similar number we saw for CJ Stroud
01:14:01Most of last offseason with a sophomore slump or perhaps a small slide
01:14:05Occur for Daniels in Washington that remains to be seen Donnie
01:14:10I guess I'll kind of ask for your takeaway your reaction to Josh Allen being named the NFL MVP
01:14:16This year in kind of how you look at those two guys being separated by only a half buck atop the
01:14:242025 MVP odds
01:14:26You know what's interesting about this too because I sort of use this equation
01:14:30It's almost a shame that the AP vote bank came out before the actual vote for who was going to win MVP
01:14:36Because it sort of swung the scales
01:14:38Let's just go back to that day and let's just say the NFL
01:14:40Players Association and or AP whoever voted on it said you know what it is Josh Allen and then Josh Allen got the MVP
01:14:46I don't think anybody would have cared all that much like oh, that's just the way it is
01:14:49But I think it skewed the thought process and to me both of the guys deserving to be MVPs Josh Allen
01:14:55I thought got a little bit of a snub down the stretch because number one he put his big numbers up
01:14:59What you say three-quarters of the season the final couple games of the year?
01:15:02He played in some really bad weather conditions and also in the last game of the year
01:15:07Baltimore did play their starters picked up a victory Josh Allen did a quick cameo
01:15:10So you saw the numbers were skewed in the direction late in the year for Lamar Jackson
01:15:15But I didn't have a big-time issue if I'm asking
01:15:18MVP here's the problem with it
01:15:20It's like comeback player of the year a lot of people vote on it different ways than just the best overall player in the NFL
01:15:25Look at MVP was most valuable player
01:15:28It doesn't necessarily mean just the best player because I tried to explain it to people like well
01:15:33What's your vision for the MVP?
01:15:35And I say well to me Baltimore with a decent backup quarterback goes to the playoffs the Buffalo Bills with a decent backup quarterback
01:15:43They might be drafting in the top five this year in the NFL
01:15:46So that's in it's unfair to Lamar to do that to him because the team he plays with and Josh Allen
01:15:51But as I said more people vote MVP differently than just a straight-up who's the best player at that position?
01:15:57I didn't have an issue either way happy for Josh. He got it done
01:16:00He's had a great career so far hasn't gotten to the Super Bowl, but also for Lamar Jackson snub maybe a little bit
01:16:06It's got multiple awards already at that point. I didn't have a big deal looking at they go. Oh, what a robbery Ben
01:16:12I just didn't have that
01:16:13It is a narrative award and Lamar Jackson stats this year were better than the stats
01:16:19He had when he won the MVP award based on the narrative the Ravens were the best team in the NFL in
01:16:262023 perhaps the narrative of voter fatigue his third MVP award in his six years as the full-time starter in
01:16:33Baltimore come on
01:16:34We can't do that right but because of the historic nature of this decision
01:16:40Lamar Jackson is the first guy NFL history to ever have more passing yards more passing touchdowns for your
01:16:46Interceptions higher completion percentage more rushing yards so on and so forth in the actual MVP winner
01:16:51Despite the fact that Josh Allen made history as well. The Bills had a better overall record
01:16:57They won the AFC East for a fifth consecutive year
01:17:00We're not really expected to do so entering the season because of everything Buffalo had lost
01:17:05I'm not so sure Donnie based on these offseason odds. I would bet either guy. I'm not so sure
01:17:12I bet Patrick Mahomes. Maybe he comes out with some vengeance
01:17:15He did win the award in 2022 the last time the Chiefs did not win a Super Bowl that ensuing season
01:17:22Again, I think Joe Burrow can put up those MVP numbers if most everybody is back in Cincinnati
01:17:28But perhaps that is the largest if around the National Football League all offseason
01:17:34How about the guy that just won Super Bowl MVP in out?
01:17:37You old Mahomes for a second consecutive Super Bowl in Jalen Hurts if he can keep those numbers
01:17:43Consistent throughout a regular season. I think there is some value on Hurts at a 22 to 1 number
01:17:49There is and also understand. It's typically a quarterback award
01:17:52Now if we were to vote on the MVP at the end of the season
01:17:56It probably would have came up Saquon Barkley
01:17:58Even though I had about 50 yards or so in the Super Bowl
01:18:01Interesting point next year is Saquon's 50 to 1 to start out to be the MVP
01:18:05Jameer Gibbs is a hundred to one maybe running backs to get more respect next year and who knows Jameer Gibbs has the wheels to
01:18:11Put up big numbers and if Saquon Barkley refreshed and readied only 28 years old entering into next season
01:18:17Yeah, maybe he can get it done
01:18:19the resurgence of the running back a big story in
01:18:232024 our number three our third final that
01:18:28Welcome to our number three our third and final to start off this new week on the early line on sports grid
01:18:34It is a Monday Donnie right side is back. I am Ben
01:18:39Stephens some more Super Bowl reaction to the end of this year
01:18:43And of course the long offseason in the NFL that awaits and all of our discussion points
01:18:48That we will carry on from now in mid-february all the way until early
01:18:54September. Yes, the 2024 NFL season is done
01:18:58Our final football game of the year comes to a close yesterday evening in New Orleans
01:19:03But the football talk is far from ever being done here on the grid
01:19:08But we will catch you up into all the action around the Association that you need in this third and final hour
01:19:16Anthony Davis
01:19:18Injured in his opening game in Dallas
01:19:22Nico Harrison and some instant karma in the state of Texas as we await Luka
01:19:29Donchik's Laker debut on this Monday evening as well in a great in
01:19:36Chaotic college basketball weekend, but I'm up
01:19:41The NCAA tournament DRS next up
01:19:4644 days, I believe it was tweeted out yesterday by one John Rothstein that we are wait was actually 45 yesterday
01:19:52So 45 to 44 today that we will have a bracket and that's the great part about it because you're looking also at baseball
01:19:59Like we're like, I think it's 45 days by the way for baseball season as well
01:20:02We're on the cusp of sort of that
01:20:04Convergence that we absolutely love and in the Northeast here the day is get a little bit longer
01:20:09The day is get a little bit warmer at this point
01:20:11So just because football is done for the season
01:20:13We sort of get upset by that but just basking in the glory of football season for me like today Ben
01:20:18You don't gonna do gonna have the money line. It's gonna be like an after-party me and Kevin celebrating his victory
01:20:23I'm gonna get myself some lunch
01:20:25I'm gonna hit some sporting goods stores buy a hat buy a hoodie and sort of say, you know
01:20:29Eagles won it but you get to relive it all week because the actual parade is not till Friday, which is
01:20:36Valentine's Day should be a big time in the city
01:20:39So I mean we'll bask in this glory of this NFL championship all week long in Philadelphia to Lombardi's. Ah
01:20:48It's I mean, it's not so nice this the city of brotherly love on the day of long champion
01:20:55celebrating the second ever Super Bowl in
01:20:57Franchise history Donnie. I know you probably had
01:21:00robust plans to take the missus out to dinner candlelit wine, whatever she desires and
01:21:08Now you don't even have to do that because you can just turn on the TV and watch the Eagles Super Bowl parade
01:21:15Exactly. I mean just unbelievable stuff relax this weekend. We're supposed to go to Atlantic City Saturday night
01:21:21Maybe we just say you know what let's skip that thing here. Let's just embrace everything
01:21:25Yeah, we got dinner plans on Friday night. I'm taking the wife and the daughter out my two valentines and then Saturday
01:21:31We had the AC but you know, let me let me ask you this
01:21:34Do you know who also is staying in Atlantic City on Saturday night?
01:21:39It's gotta be Joe Lisi
01:21:41It's Joe Lisi. So there you go. The meetup will happen down there everybody out there that knows you're more than welcome to come to Atlantic City
01:21:48We're gonna celebrate Valentine's Day and our love of the Philadelphia Eagles all at the same time
01:21:54All right, where are you going to ocean I
01:21:58Will be at the Borgata Jolie's who will be at the Tropicana
01:22:01We got to pick a meeting time somewhere
01:22:03But the one thing's for sure the fight on who's gonna pay for the drinks here
01:22:07Do you think I can beat Joe Lisi at that now? I won't be drinking
01:22:10I will partake in some other things but you know, Joe Lisi picking up the tab probably what's what he does minus
01:22:161,000 minus 5,000 of that. Yeah, baby. It'd be the upset of the century. It'd be Goliath
01:22:22It'd be Goliath going down to David if you pick up the tab before Joe Lisi, I do like this here. Yeah
01:22:30You know, I listen don't run over the wrong way
01:22:33He'll be careful. Listen. I just also want to throw this out there. I
01:22:39Was supposed to my fiance Chloe and myself supposed to have dinner with we see and his significant other don't want to
01:22:47spoil too many things for that guy
01:22:49Tell me we were supposed to have dinner together on
01:22:54Sunday night here in Manhattan. Wow
01:22:58Moving parts. Yeah, but that's for Joey's
01:23:01You know, let Lisi will text me behind the scenes like how about dinner in the city Saturday does not understand who I am
01:23:07Number one, I don't eat dinner and I'm not going to the city, but it seems like a convict
01:23:11He's just shocked that it can't be happening. So there you go
01:23:14We'll report back later this week to see if we are
01:23:19Sunday it would seem like a lot of
01:23:22moving parts from AC to NYC and to go kiss the hand that a certain ever down there and so
01:23:29Yeah, we'll see if that plays out. It will be a week of celebration in Philadelphia
01:23:35It will be an offseason of celebration in Philly with the second Super Bowl championship ever in Eagles
01:23:43Franchise history, but now the conversation Donnie because we have seen it often it seems here as of late
01:23:50Repeat teams in the biggest game of a year to have the opportunity to go back-to-back as a Super Bowl winner
01:23:58Will the Eagles repeat as a Super Bowl champ in the 2025 NFL season?
01:24:03That was the question for all of you good folks and fade the public
01:24:14At
01:24:15Sports grid on Twitter will the Eagles repeat as Super Bowl champions next season?
01:24:22simple question simple answers leading to a bigger conversation
01:24:26Yes, or no in more than 82 percent of the public DRS saying no
01:24:32The Eagles will not repeat as a Lombardi Trophy winner for two consecutive NFL
01:24:39Seasons Donnie, did you fade the public with all of your birds backing but being a very unbiased man in sports media? I
01:24:46Am unbiased but today I'm extremely biased with Eagles winning a championship
01:24:50You could have put that poll up there that said well the Eagles repeat the next 15 years in a row and I would have voted
01:24:56Yes, absolutely. That is what's going to happen. But
01:24:59Understand this it doesn't matter how good your football team is the NFL stacks the deck against you the following season on purpose
01:25:07That's what makes the NFL great. Do they love dynasty's like the Chiefs?
01:25:10Sure, they do, but they live on every team as an equal chance to win
01:25:14And if you're not as good we're gonna try to bump you up here by giving you a better schedule here
01:25:18The Eagles schedule is incredibly tough next year
01:25:21And if you don't have home field advantage, that's certainly going to change things up
01:25:25We have to go on the road to win playoff games as opposed to be home and understand this this year, too
01:25:30The Eagles were not the number one seed
01:25:31but there was an upset of the number one seed of Detroit Lions which gave the Philadelphia Eagles home field advantage throughout the playoffs and
01:25:37They used it to their advantage by winning a world championship. So it's not hatred. We're only 18%
01:25:43Let's just say have voted. Yes, it's damn near impossible to go back-to-back
01:25:48There's only been nine back-to-back Super Bowl champions in this era first ever Super Bowl. Of course the
01:25:561966 NFL campaign
01:25:591967 is when it was played 59 years of the Super Bowl era in the NFL in only nine
01:26:07Back-to-back winners including the Kansas City Chiefs, of course most recently it is difficult
01:26:13The odds would say the Eagles had a great
01:26:15Opportunity one of those three teams in a three-way tie for the second-best price at seven to one only a half dollar behind
01:26:22Casey in the Eagles Donnie better than $2 in front of everybody else or $2 in front of everybody else in the NFC
01:26:30Who's their biggest challenger the Lions a lot of change the Niners on easy offseason the commanders?
01:26:37Can they capitalize on the optimism and momentum?
01:26:41Of course, we have that weird thing in the NFC East
01:26:44We have not seen a back-to-back divisional winner in the NFC East now in 30
01:26:50Years and the Eagles did win the divisional championship in
01:26:542024 that of course would be prime playoff position. I voted. No, I don't think it's going to happen
01:27:00I don't think the Eagles have a disastrous Super Bowl hangover and go six and eleven
01:27:04I think Philly's going to be there and have a great shot to even play in the NFC
01:27:09Championship game and Donnie something we said early on in our discussion about the Eagles
01:27:14They are the pantheon of the NFC
01:27:16You can try to find those contenders, but when it comes to being the pinnacle of the sport, it's Philadelphia and everybody else
01:27:22Yeah, it is. And again, you're looking at the NFC. Look at the teams above them
01:27:26They're AFC teams would seem to be the stronger opponent. So why can't the Eagles repeat?
01:27:30Well, it's probably gonna be an AFC team
01:27:32That's gonna give them the toughest play if they do make the Super Bowl
01:27:35But there's a long all season to go teams are getting hungry and the foot off Eagles
01:27:39Will they be fat and happy next year? It's gonna be a dead
