00:00We will now talk to Senator Ronald Bato de la Rosa, one of the possible serving judges in the Senate Impeachment Court. Senator good morning.
00:09Good morning to you and to all our viewers. Good morning to all of us.
00:14You said yourself that you're an ally of the Duterte. How will you be neutral if you're still included in the impeachment trial in June?
00:24Well, as much as possible, we will do that. But let's face it, every member of that impeachment court is a political animal.
00:38So we have to be, we have to do our best. We have to try our best to be political and focus on the mission at hand.
00:48Did you expect this, Senator, the impeachment of VP Sara?
00:53Yes, I expected that. I expected that for a long time.
00:58Did you talk to VP or former President Rodrigo Duterte about their reaction to this, Senator?
01:06No. We haven't talked to them. I haven't called them yet.
01:11But can you say that this is still based on the duty of the Congress, on check and balance and public accountability?
01:22Yes. That's part of the duty of the Congress.
01:26This is a constitutional mandate of the Senate that it will be an impeachment court if there are articles of impeachment submitted from the lower house.
01:43But do you think that the palace has nothing to do with this, especially when President Duterte called for this not to continue?
01:50President Bongbong Marcos called for this not to continue?
01:54I don't want to speculate. Our assumption might be wrong. But I don't know about them. They should be the ones to say.
02:08A part of the impeachment article is the EJK or ex-judicial killings.
02:15Were you surprised that VP Sara was included in the EJK?
02:18Yes. I was surprised. Even if it was a chicken, VP Sara didn't kill a chicken. I don't know if she killed a chicken or a goat.
02:35I don't know. But the EJK is very far from her.
02:42Yes. Some legal experts said that the impeachment process should continue.
02:47Did Senate President Chris Escudero say anything about the senators going to a special session?
02:55Well, we will wait. Before he calls for a special session, he has to get the side, the stand of every member of the 24 sitting senators.
03:13We will talk about that. If we can agree that we will hold a special session, then why not. But if some don't want to allow it,
03:28maybe we will go back to June 2.
03:33Are you ready to be a judge in convening the impeachment court?
03:39Yes. Anytime. Anytime. We can do our mandate.
03:46Okay. Thank you very much Senator Ronald Bato de la Rosa. Be careful.
03:51Thank you. Thank you again. Thank you. Good morning to all of us.
