00:00The Department of Migrant Workers, or DMW, shuts down the main office and four branches of Hikari,
00:05Japanese Learning Center Corporation, due to the illegal offering of overseas employment in Japan.
00:11The learning center is operating with its head office in Panabo City, Davao del Norte,
00:17and its four branches located in Manila City, Rosario, Cavite,
00:20and the cities of Davao and General Santos. Bien Manalo tells us more.
00:25The Department of Migrant Workers closed the Hikari Japanese Learning Center Corporation
00:32in Malate, Manila. They allegedly offering illegal language training and job opportunities in Japan.
00:38DMW also closed the three branches of the said learning center in Mindanao and one
00:43in Calabarzon. Such action by the agency is in accordance with the directive of President
00:48Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to protect the welfare of the overseas Filipino workers.
00:53We conducted surveillance and we were confirmed. It was confirmed by our operatives
01:00that they are in violation. So lima po sila, sabay-sabay po nating pidasalat.
01:06In the investigation, the learning center's modus was to encourage applicants to enroll first
01:12in their four-month language training in lieu of 40,000 pesos as training fees.
01:16Contrary to the proper process of the DMW, the selection process or the selection of the employer
01:22should first be performed on the applicants before they undergo any trainings. Some of the
01:27jobs offered are related to hotel and restaurant service, food processing, farming, food and
01:32beverage manufacturing and caregiving. At sasabihin nila na mag-aral kayo dito,

02:02left hanging by the illegal learning center. The DMW advises those who want to work abroad
02:25to go to licensed recruitment agencies to avoid being a victim.
02:47Victims are encouraged to contact the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau to formally file a
