00:00It's just simply unacceptable to me that many Victorians, particularly women and children,
00:06aren't feeling as safe as they should. Now last year we introduced a number of changes,
00:12changes that are rolling out and are working and are making a difference,
00:16but it's clear to me from listening to local communities, from listening to families,
00:21particularly listening to women as well, that we do need to look at what more needs to be done,
00:27which is why I've asked the Attorney-General and the Police Minister to review our law
00:33settings because in terms of whose responsibility it is, it's the responsibility of the Parliament
00:36to make the laws. We've already made changes last year and they're making a difference,
00:42but it's clear to me that we need to go further. What we don't support is when Jacinta Allen comes
00:48out after massive issues through the bail through our state. People have been killed
00:54from people who are on bail and now we're seeing a reaction from the Government when they get bad
00:58polls. Why weren't they coming out and negotiating and discussing what we should do to fix the
01:03bar laws and make them tougher when Ash Gordon's family came and spoke to them about the fact that
01:08someone was killed on our streets by a person who was on bail?
