00:00Today we're heading to the BT Tower, a telecommunications tower that has been one of London's most
00:08iconic landmarks since it was completed in 1964. Standing at 191 metres tall, it was
00:15once the tallest building in the city and remains one of the tallest structures in London.
00:19The tower was originally built to facilitate communications for the British telecommunications
00:24industry, and its design was a major feat of engineering at the time.
00:29The cylindrical shape allows it to withstand high winds, and the top section contains a
00:33revolving restaurant, where guests used to dine while enjoying 360-degree views of the
00:38city. Although the restaurant has now closed, the tower still plays a crucial role in London's
00:43communication infrastructure, and the nearest tube station is Goode Street, which is on
00:47the Northern Line.
