00:00Let's take another look around London, and today we're heading to Tower Bridge.
00:05Since opening in 1894, Tower Bridge has become one of London's most recognisable landmarks.
00:11It often gets mistaken for London Bridge, but it's the one with the dramatic Twin Towers
00:15and the famous lifting drawbridge.
00:18Originally the bascules, those huge sections that lift, were powered by steam, but today
00:22they operate hydraulically, still opening for river traffic several times a day, and
00:27the walkways at the top offer incredible views with great photo opportunities, especially
00:32when the bridge is in motion.
00:33It was once painted a dull shade of chocolate brown, but it was repainted in 1977 for the
00:38Queen's Silver Jubilee in red, white and blue.
00:41For your visit, Tower Hill station is closest on the Circle and District lines, London Bridge
00:46station with access to the Jubilee and Northern lines is a short walk away.
