00:00A TNA Champion Controversy and this time it's not PCO, Alexa Bliss and Wyatt 6 update, Tempest
00:07review of AEW Dynamite and more. I'm Luke Owen, no paper can stop me being the Jam That
00:13Champion and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:22Tessa Blanchard made her return to TNA late last year, a return that was pretty controversial.
00:27Blanchard was at one point the TNA World Champion, but was forced to relinquish the belt when
00:32she reportedly wouldn't film vignettes for the company during the pandemic and couldn't
00:37travel for tapings. But prior to that she had been accused of racism and bullying by
00:42several other wrestlers. One of those names was Chelsea Green, who again accused Blanchard
00:47of racism earlier this month in a now deleted tweet. Blanchard beat Jordan Grace to become
00:52the TNA Knockouts Champion at Genesis, which is all but confirmed to be Grace's last
00:56match for the company, more on that in a bit, but prior to Blanchard's TNA return
01:01she was doing regular work with CMLL. And now Sportskeeda's Chris Featherstone has
01:05tweeted, I was informed that Tessa Blanchard had many problems in CMLL and yelled at a
01:10few girls in the locker room which led to meetings with the whole women's roster and
01:15The Boss because of all the drama. However not all is as it seems, as LuchaBlog has responded
01:22to this report saying, what kind of sourcing is, I was informed. He followed this up with,
01:27I write for the most aware Lucha Libre people in the world and if I'm referencing The
01:32Boss of a promotion, I'm including that person's name. Not including the name might
01:37suggest you've not really figured out what you're talking about and you're just passing
01:41on DM gossip. Another CMLL insider tweeted during TNA Genesis, there is no history of
01:47racism on the part of Tessa Blanchard during her stay in Mexico. None.
01:51I mentioned Jordan Grace earlier, and PWInsider are reporting that WWE's Nick Khan told
01:56talent that she has been signed by the company at a town hall meeting yesterday, with PWInsider
02:01adding that Grace was 100% in this Saturday's Royal Rumble. Grace herself however has shot
02:06down this report saying that this weekend she is celebrating her mother's 50th birthday,
02:11with a screenshot of her plane ticket showing that she's flying into Texas while the Rumble
02:15is taking place in Indianapolis. The WWE and TNA partnership has fans very
02:20excited that there could be crossover between the companies on main roster PPVs like WrestleMania.
02:25However Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select writes, I wouldn't count on it at WrestleMania
02:29or even WWE main roster PLE shows for a while, if ever. He does however add the caveat, unless
02:36there are some Royal Rumble entrants. Joe Hendry and the Royal Rumble confirmed.
02:40One name that could be a surprise entrant this year though is Amos. As Fightful Select
02:44report his name has been discussed for the match itself, but we've not confirmed he
02:48would be in it. SRS notes that Amos' recent run in NOAH has impressed those in WWE. Both
02:53Fightful and PWInsider are reporting that at the very least Amos is being flown into
02:58Indianapolis by WWE. Fightful Select are also reporting that the
03:01reason Wyatt Six haven't been on TV since their loss to The Final Testament in December
03:07is not because of creative, but because one of the members of the group is currently injured.
03:12There was a report from PWInsider last week that said Alexa Bliss was set to return to
03:17WWE during the show in San Jose and be part of the Wyatt Six group, but that creative
03:22fell apart and Bliss' return is now on indefinite hold. Fightful Select did not confirm or deny
03:28this story, but added, it was also said that Alexa not being back yet hasn't necessarily
03:34affected long-term plans for the faction. Just before we head into Tempest's review
03:38of AEW Dynamite, I hope that you've all had the chance to either watch, or save to
03:42your Watch Later playlist, mine and Oli's massive 4 hour plus review of WrestleMania
03:4827. And if that wasn't enough, there is an exclusive 4 hour review of WWE Survivor
03:55Series 2011, which sees The Rock and John Cena team together to take on the awesome
03:59might of R-Truth and The Miz over at Patreon.com forward slash WrestleTalk. That is around
04:068 and a half hours worth of wrestling chat. We've also got a 4 hour review of Madam
04:11Webb over on Cutscene, and a 3 and a half hour review of Morbius over on that Patreon
04:16page. So if you like Oli and I chatting, well, there's a lot of it available for you right
04:21now. Now over to Tempest.
04:23Hello I'm Tempest, the one true king of Mario Party, and today, this is my review
04:28of AEW Dynamite in about 5 minutes.
04:30This week's episode of Dynamite kicked off with the Will Ospreay vs. Brian Cage match,
04:35but before the match could get underway, we were shown Kenny Omega getting taken out backstage.
04:40Somehow, Will Ospreay managed to perfectly balance on the barricade, only to go for a
04:44blockbuster, but get caught, walked around the ring, and suplexed on the floor. Genuinely,
04:50one of the most impressive sequences I've seen in 2025.
04:53Will got worked over for a long while, but after a super F5, Lance Archer caused a distraction,
04:59allowing Will to send Cage into Archer and hit the Styles Clash for the win. That's
05:03like his fifth finisher? He's got five finishers. That's very impressive.
05:10It would be a short celebration, however, as the Don Callis family beat him, and a worse
05:14for wear Kenny Omega down. Very good opening match, but we didn't really get any advancement
05:20in what last week was the highlight of the show, and the best thing going.
05:24Rene tried to get a word with Swerve Strickland, but Hangman Page barged in looking for Swerve,
05:30but wouldn't say why.
05:31On his way out, he bumped into MJF, and they had a tense stare down, and under his breath,
05:36Max said, oh, Hangman did nothing wrong, but if I so much as breathe funny. And this is
05:40a very interesting preview of the feud these two seem poised to have. Max is always at
05:46his best when he dives deep into real life, and using the reactions that he and Hangman
05:51have gotten over the last year is incredibly tantalizing. I need this feud expeditiously.
05:57Also, Max talks some shit about Jeff Jarrett and his upcoming match with Claudio Castagnoli
06:02by referencing Kevin Owens' old shoot interview where he said Claudio was half man, half horse.
06:07Powerhouse Hobbs says that when he gets cleared, he's going to show Big Bill that hell is
06:11just the beginning. Then, we had the next step on Jeff Jarrett's odyssey as he tried
06:15to earn himself a world title shot in a match against Claudio Castagnoli.
06:19Wheeler Yuta's appearance at ringside turned the tide in the favor of his D-Rider stablemate,
06:23but while Jeff got a good sharpshooter in deep, Yuta distracted the ref, Mox hit the
06:28paradigm shift, and Claudio hit the worst neutralizer of his career for the win. After
06:33the match, MJF hit the ring seemingly to cut a promo, but he immediately hit Jeff with
06:38the diamond ring and stood over him to say that because he respects his elders, he won't
06:42say he told him so.
06:44Functionally, I don't think the outcome of this was a bad one. Claudio wins and MJF
06:49lays Jarrett out, but honest to God, at this point when I watch the Death Rider stuff,
06:54my eyes just glaze over and I feel my entire nervous system turn off. All the finishes
07:00to their matches are exactly the same. It's like Roman Reigns getting saved by Sola Sokoa
07:052.0 that nobody gives a f*** edition.
07:08Backstage, Ricochet told Rene Paquette that he will get everything off his chest on Collision,
07:13and accused AEW of bullying him by booking him in a match with AR Fox one week before
07:18his match with Swerve. Just the use of the word bullying says so much about this Ricochet
07:24character.
07:25And then we had that match, with AR Fox getting a lot of offense in early. I've been very
07:29interested to see how Ricochet's new character will play into his wrestling style. I have
07:34absolutely loved the character work that Ricochet has shown since World's End. But Ricochet
07:39inherently has a very flashy babyface style, so this was the first time we've really
07:44gotten to see how he's adjusted, and like, yeah, he does less.
07:49AR Fox picked up a lot of the high-flying slack, and I do think he was a good choice
07:53of opponent for Ricochet in this setting, but personally I think he'll Ricochet in
07:57the ring needs a little bit more time to find himself. This match wasn't bad by any stretch,
08:02I was just hoping to be amazed. Ricochet won with the vertigo, and while the match slightly
08:06underwhelmed me, the post-match I thought was superb. Swerve attacked Ricochet and delivered
08:11a great beatdown, but before he could put an exclamation point on it by hitting the
08:15swerve stomp, Ricochet grabbed Fox and held him hostage with the scissors until he was
08:20able to make it up the ramp and out of danger.
08:22They advertised Chris Jericho's new movie, and then there was another New York Minute
08:26where Jericho told Big Bill that he didn't get the job done on Collision. The cracks
08:29in the learning tree are starting to show, this may not be long for the world, free Brian
08:34Keith!
08:35J. White then finally got his hands on Wheeler Yuta, and while Yuta did work over J's ankle
08:40and knee, J got a flash blade runner out of nowhere for the win. J hit a second blade
08:44runner after the bell, but before he could hit a third, the Death Riders jumped him and
08:48laid him out. If only he had a returning ass-mountain of support coming in the form of a tag team!
08:54And yes, ass-mountain is a very good pun! Thank you, I already know! Wes told me!
09:00Instead, it was Rated FTR that made the save, as Dax challenged the Death Riders to a mid-south
09:05street fight in the name of Dennis Conjury of the Midnight Express, who was in attendance.
09:09Hello, Luke!
09:10Hello.
09:11Not taking it again.
09:12I'm interrupting you.
09:13Hello.
09:14Continuity.
09:15See, he's coming in after the fact, like Rated FTR did on this show. At a time where
09:23it isn't appropriate. Slightly delayed.
09:26FTR vs. Mox and Claudio at last year's Revolution was fantastic, so that should be something
09:31to look forward to, but yeah, this was a very Death Riders heavy episode, and I've already
09:36made my feelings known about that.
09:39What? Claudio's not even in the match?!
09:54After a recap of what happened on Collision, Mariah May cut her interview short with Renee
09:58Paquette, who told her that she seemed shaken, instead standing alone and running down Toni
10:03Storm. It was a fine enough promo, but we didn't really break new ground here, either.
10:07I don't have the time to go through my thoughts on the Toni Storm reveal from Collision here
10:10and now, but make sure you tune into the podcast later to hear Luke and I break down this show,
10:15and maybe some things from the weekend.
10:17The Guns are going to be back soon, as we got a vignette that was almost so normal it
10:21astounded me. They lifted weights, there was soft, light accompanying music, it felt like
10:26I was watching a commercial about staying fit. At least Jay White might finally have
10:31some actual goddamn backup that doesn't wait until he's already dead to make the save!
10:36The Hurt Syndicate got a celebratory vignette where MVP gave props to Private Party for
10:40being formidable champions, but put the whole locker room on notice because their reign
10:44has begun, and they hurt people.
10:47We got a Konosuke Takeshita video package detailing his wins in New Japan and around
10:51the world.
10:52Then we got a recap of what had happened throughout the whole show to this point, and it was at
10:56this point I realized this was a poorly paced episode of television.
11:00But it didn't stop there either, because the Vendetta was backstage, angry about Harley
11:07Cameron costing Dionna her match from collision, and now Harley Cameron belongs to them and
11:11they're coming to collect.
11:13Finally, we had our main event, as Mercedes Monet retained the TBS Championship against
11:17Yuka Sakazaki.
11:18It took quite a while for the crowd to get into this one, which I can't say I'm surprised
11:22by, because it has been a while since we had a title match where a retention was as nailed
11:28on ahead of time as this one.
11:30Thankfully, both of these women are very strong workers, and Yuka taunting Mercedes with her
11:35sexy dance.
11:37Sexy dance.
11:38Input the clip of Shota Umino doing the sexy dance.
11:41It was very fun, so the fans had reason to cheer, but ultimately Mercedes got the Monet
11:45maker and got the win.
11:47It was a good little match, but I'm really not sure why it was the main event of this
11:51show.
11:52Perhaps it's because there was nothing else on this show!
11:56It didn't hit me until we were well into the second hour, but I have no idea how you
12:01could put on last week's Dynamite, complete with electrifying characters, moving emotional
12:06storytelling, an awesome title change, and Harley f***ing Cameron being Harley Cameron,
12:13and then one week later, put on a show that highlights precisely none of those things!
12:20F***ing have the Hurt Syndicate open the show and squash a legit team, cement their title
12:25reign.
12:26Why, after getting absolutely mullered last week, did Cope have nothing to say to try
12:30and get anyone hooked on this lifeless story?
12:33The Don Callis family beatdown was fine, but it was a copy and pasted from two weeks ago.
12:38I thought maybe the TVS title match was going to go on last to give the Harley Cameron-Mercedes
12:42Monet set up for Australia the weight of a main event spot, but no, it was just a cold
12:48TV match with no pomp, no circumstance, no highlight packages hyping it up throughout
12:52the show.
12:53Nothing!
12:55You dedicate one of your dozens of vignettes to something that was actually f***ing relevant
12:59to the show!
13:02And yeah, at the heart of it, this Death Rider story is a blight upon AEW, in case you could
13:06possibly forget.
13:07This episode of Dynamite gets a 2 out of 5.
13:09And that just about wraps things up for me, but if you want something a little lighter
13:12to go check out, make sure you watch the final episode of Video Game League, where we throw
13:17skill out the window with our good old fashioned Super Mario Party Jamboree.
13:22Pink Pony Club, I'm gonna keep on dancin' at the Pink Pony Club, I'm gonna keep on...
