00:00Another lawsuit has been filed against WWE, and it again includes Vince McMahon, Tempest
00:06review of AEW Dynamite and more.
00:08I'm Luke Owen and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:17In January of this year, Janelle Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis
00:22and WWE with accusations of sexual misconduct, sexual assault and sex trafficking.
00:27The suit sent shockwaves through the wrestling world, with McMahon being removed from his
00:31position within TKO, the holding company for WWE, and saw the removal of Brock Lesnar from
00:37WWE TV programming as he was reportedly implicated within the claims.
00:41The suit is currently on hold due to a federal investigation into Vince McMahon.
00:45It was also the subject of the final episode of the Mr. McMahon docuseries on Netflix,
00:50which was originally announced to be a joint venture between Netflix and WWE.
00:55The documentary was intended to be a warts and all series that would cover topics like
00:59Owen Hart, The Steroid Child and Chris Benoit, with interviews with McMahon himself and several
01:04top WWE names like Cody Rhodes, John Cena, The Rock and Steve Austin.
01:08That all changed when McMahon had sexual misconduct allegations made against him in 2022, which
01:13led to him stepping away and retiring from WWE, only to come back a few months later
01:18to sell the company and merge it to form TKO.
01:22Another of the warts and all topics covered in the documentary is the 1992 Ring Boys scandal,
01:27which saw ring announcer Mel Phillips and others accused of sexually abusing underage
01:32boys in exchange for work within WWE.
01:34The story was covered extensively by Phil Mushnick in the New York Post, and McMahon
01:38would later sue Mushnick for defamation.
01:41A lawsuit filed by Tom and Lee Cole was settled days before the famous episode of Phil Donahue
01:46which McMahon appeared on.
01:47Phillips passed away in 2012.
01:49And now, for the first time, McMahon is named in a new lawsuit related to the Ring Boys
01:55scandal.
01:56The new lawsuit is filed against Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, WWE and TKO on behalf of five
02:02John Does, who claim to have been known by WWE as Ring Boys hired by Phillips.
02:07The suit writes, the underage Ring Boys were groomed, exploited and sexually abused by
02:12Phillips who targeted children from broken homes.
02:15His sexual assaults occurred not only at the wrestling venues, but also in hotel rooms
02:19and other locations where Phillips would shuttle the boys in plain sight.
02:23Defendants were fully aware of the systemic and pervasive abuse and did nothing to prevent
02:28or stop it.
02:29The suit adds, the survivors only recently learned of the depth of knowledge that the
02:33McMahons and the WWE had about what happened to them and the sexual abuse in the company
02:38started at the top with the McMahons.
02:40Vince McMahon's attorney Jessica Rosenberg released a statement to Brandon Thurston of
02:44WrestleNomics saying, more than 30 years ago, the columnist Phil Mushnick tried to make
02:48headlines with the same false claims.
02:51Those allegations were never proven and ultimately became the subject of a defamation lawsuit
02:56against Mr. Mushnick.
02:57The negligence claims against Mr. McMahon that were asserted today rely on the same
03:01absurd, defamatory and utterly meritless statements by Mr. Mushnick.
03:05We will vigorously defend Mr. McMahon and are confident that the court will find that
03:09these claims are untrue and unfounded.

03:20Look, it's hard to segue out of that bit of news into Tempest AEW Dynamite review,
03:23so let me instead shout out this guy from Dynamite who brought in a sign shouting out
03:28Cueba and Gris.
03:30There are only a handful of people in the comments that will appreciate that sign as
03:33much as I do.
03:34Shout out to Brian Criss, Flubs Unite.
03:38Welcome to this Sat-E-Thursday, where Sat and I are going to be reviewing Dynamite on
03:42the podcast later on, but in the meantime, I'm Tempest and this is my review of AEW
03:46Dynamite in about 5 minutes.
03:49After a look back at the destruction that Jon Moxley and company have caused since WrestleDream,
03:53the AEW roster are waiting for them to arrive in the parking lot a fitting touch to make
03:58this angle feel like it encompasses the entire AEW Universe.
04:02Hangman Page was called to the ring to answer for what he did to Jay White last week, and
04:05upon taking the mic, said that he knocked out Austin Gunn so hard that he probably doesn't
04:10remember his own brother's name.
04:11A nod to the promo Hangman himself cut two years ago after being knocked out by Jon Moxley
04:17when Hangman couldn't remember his son's name, an excellent display of how far Hangman
04:22has fallen.
04:23Colton Gunn attacked Page before taking a swan dive into the Timekeeper's area, and
04:27the rest of the Bang Bang Gang made the save.
04:29White said that Page may try to cover up his shortcomings with blood, fire, and barbed
04:33wire, but he'll never hide that he can't measure up to the Switchblade.
04:37Seems like we may be heading for a Hangman-Switchblade-Texas deathmatch, which would be very fun if you
04:43ask me.
04:44MVP quotes a wise man named The Joker, saying when you're good at something, you never
04:48do it for free with regards to Shelton Benjamin, and then Benjamin took on Sammy Guevara.
04:53Similar to last week, Shelton's power and explosiveness were on full display here, with
04:57everything from suplexes to the best superkicks in the business today, including one catching
05:02Sammy out of mid-air.
05:03You know, the kind that would make all fans sit up and go...
05:07I wasn't expecting Shelton to be presented as an unstoppable powerhouse, but I am not
05:12complaining at all.
05:13This was the best match on the show, and Shelton won with the T-Bone Suplex.
05:17Mariah May tossed Anna Jay's bag down the hallway before the two pulled each other's
05:21hair, and then fashion icon Kyle Fletcher and No Socks Don Callis made their way to
05:25the ring accompanied by tremendous heat.
05:28Kyle revealed his motivations, linking his journey to AEW with Will Ospreay's, and
05:32saying he stabbed Will in the back just like Will did Okada, and he dropped Will with a
05:36Tiger Driver just like he did Kenny.
05:39He really put over that people in America thought he was the next Ospreay, and even
05:43that they sound the same.
05:44And let me tell you something I've learned since moving here, folks.
05:47The worst thing you can say to someone that isn't from here is that they're English.
05:52That would be like saying a Canadian is from America.
05:55Fletcher says he will face Ospreay next week and Tiger Driver him to dust, and to prove
06:00he's nothing like Will, he shaves his head.
06:03Fletcher was getting a big time reaction and handled the crowd with a poise beyond his
06:06years, and this is where I felt Kyle was no longer showing top guy potential, he was showing
06:11he is a top guy.
06:13Ricochet talked about fighting Tekeshta in My Home in Native Land when he was interrupted
06:17by MVP and given a business card and a compliment on his very nice suit.
06:21And Brian Cage and Lance Archer beat two guys who weren't given an official name,
06:25so I'll just go by what Daddy Magic called them on commentary, Cage and Archer beat the
06:29two big beefy bastards.
06:30They won with a powerbomb chokeslam combo, and already I really like this team.
06:34It's a simple thing, but one is strong, and one is tall.
06:37That works for me.
06:38The babyfaces in the parking lot were still waiting for the BCC when Chuck Taylor tells
06:42Mark Briscoe that his match is up next, and Orange Cassidy went to accompany him, but
06:46Chuck stopped him and said that Orange has beaten Mox before, and he needs to get his
06:50head in the game and snap out of the funk he's been in.
06:52Love this little interaction between former best friends.
06:56I mean, the team.
06:57I'm sure they're still, but you know what I mean.
06:59Mark Briscoe and Chris Jericho's ladder war was next, and immediately Mark put Jericho
07:03through two tables.
07:04They redid the teeter-totter ladder spot that knocked Jericho's tooth out in 2008, and
07:08so began Jericho pulling out all his favorite spots from his No Mercy ladder match with
07:13Shawn Michaels.
07:14Jericho got pushed backwards with a ladder on top of him, and then got his leg wrapped
07:17in a ladder.
07:18Jericho and Randy Romero fought off Brian Keith interference, and a froggy-bow off a
07:21ladder appeared to have the match won for Mark, but Big Bill chokeslammed him through
07:25two tables and carried Jericho up the ladder to win the match and the title, only to have
07:31a stare-down with a returning Tomohiro Ishii afterwards.
07:34I love Ishii, but man, I just got nothing.
07:38Jericho wins another title, and this time after all the Jay Briscoe stuff, just like,
07:43what are we doing?
07:44What are we doing here?
07:45I'm sick of it!
07:46Sick of it!
07:47I'm sick of it!
07:48A Chris Statlander hype package is followed by Adam Cole actually not being done with
07:52the Undisputed Kingdom like many of us thought.
07:54They all want to fight MJF, and they are going to do it as a babyface Undisputed Kingdom.
07:58MJF appeared on the screen while getting a massage, and said whichever of Roddy and Cole
08:02win three matches in a row first will get a match with him at full gear, and then makes
08:06a joke about getting a handy.
08:07Kyle Fletcher was watching backstage.
08:10Watching the kingdom, not the handjob.
08:13Jamie Hitter rebuked Penelope Ford's claim that she was handed everything, and then the
08:16House of Black squashed three dudes, one of whom was a pirate.
08:20Was this the first sighting of Paul Burchill in 15 years?
08:24No?
08:25Shame.
08:26Each of them hit a finisher, and Buddy Matthews got the pin and made the challenge for a singles
08:29match with Adam Cole next week.
08:31This was effective enough if the goal is to give Matthews a bit of shine before a big
08:34match, but I would be more interested in seeing the likes of Brodie King and Malachi Black
08:38get singles matches on TV in the future as well.
08:41Afterward, Cole asked Matthews why he's calling him out, and Buddy said to prove Cole is fragile.
08:47This was a very strange backstage interaction.
08:51Camille dominated Queen Aminata for a lot of their match, but there was a concerted
08:55effort to make Aminata look like a credible threat to Mercedes Monet's muscle.
08:59She was by far the standout performer of the match, kicking out of a lot and using a few
09:03cool submissions, but it was Camille's match to win, and she did with her very stupid looking
09:08finishing move.
09:09I tell you right now, if Aminata is not the eventual person to beat Monet, I will not
09:13be having it.
09:14The Catlander ran out and fought both Mercedes and Camille before the numbers game got the
09:17better of her, and she was also hit with Camille's stupid looking finisher.
09:21The Patriarchy arrived and caught a sight of Kip Sabian, who got chased to the ring
09:24before Hook arrived, and went to the ring to fight Taz's assailant, who apparently
09:29was Christian.
09:30Or so we may be led to believe, because Kip low blowed Hook and the Patriarchy all beat
09:34him down, before Christian called him Tyler and said it's not what it seems.
09:39Intrigue!
09:40Kip appeared to have joined the group, which does not excite me, but Christian can turn
09:44anything into gold these days.
09:45He does have his work cut out for him though, because this is an uphill battle to make people
09:50care.
09:51Then we had our main event, as Daniel Garcia and Private Party took on the Young Bucks
09:54and Jack Perry.
09:55We had tag team synchronicity between the Bucks and the Party, and a rugged ground and
09:59pound between Garcia and Perry to start, and then perhaps as a result of a curse placed
10:03on them by Stokely Hathaway at ringside, Private Party were at the mercy of the Elite.
10:07Garcia was powerbombed through the timekeeper's table, and had to recover to take Perry over
10:11the guardrail.
10:12In an attempt to turn momentum, Private Party managed to set up the silly string, but turn
10:16it into a small package for the win, but the real story is what happened after, as Zay
10:20got on the mic and said if the Young Bucks give them a rematch and they lose, Private
10:24Party will split up.
10:26Quinn was not happy about this, and the Bucks accept for a match next week.
10:29I love how this plays off of Stokely sowing the seeds of dissent between them recently,
10:34to the extent that I don't know who will win this match next week.
10:37But don't shut off the show just yet, because the truck finally pulled up and Marina Shafir
10:41got out as a distraction as the BCC attacked Zay and Quinn with chairs before Moxley dragged
10:47Chuck Taylor to the ring and they pilmanized his neck as Orange Cassidy was just seconds
10:52late to make the save.
10:53The whole show kept the foot on the gas for this Moxley title reign, and as it is clear
10:57that Orange Cassidy is likely to be his first challenger, I really appreciate the storyline
11:01they are telling with Orange being unmotivated after the split of the best friends, only
11:06to once again be given something to care about when one of them is put in peril.
11:09Thankfully, my favorite thing on the show was the handling of this main event angle,
11:13but otherwise, a lot of this week's episode of Dynamite was nothing to be excited for.
11:17There were some highlights, like Shelty B once again showing how great he is, and Kyle
11:21Fletcher's haircut, but beyond that, the Cole-MJF stuff was a bit lame, 2-3 squash
11:26matches, a broadly fine main event, a Kip Sabian and Hook storyline I simply do not
11:31care about, and of course, Jericho holding a f***ing belt again!
11:36Unfortunately, not a lot of this show really landed outside of the bits I mentioned, and
11:40thankfully, they were the most important bits, but otherwise, this was a Dynamite that could
11:44easily have been skipped.
11:45This show gets a 2.5 out of 5.
11:48But if you want to lift your spirits, why don't you go and watch one of the worst
11:51wrestling matches to ever happen, anywhere, anytime, as we watch Seth Rollins vs. The
11:56Fiend on the latest episode of Worst Match Ever.
11:58Here's a clip, check it out.
12:01What's the ref- no.
12:03No.
12:05No, referee, this is not your job.
12:09Please, Seth, please.
12:10Seth's going, maybe I'm the monster.
12:16Why are you crying?
12:19Why is he, like, crying?
12:23And then the bell rings.
12:25No!
12:28No!
12:31No!
12:33That doesn't make any sense!
