Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered a hamstring injury during Everton’s 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on January 25, 2025. The injury occurred in the 11th minute, leading to his substitution. This setback is particularly concerning given Calvert-Lewin’s history of injuries, which have previously impacted his consistency and availability.

00:00What's the latest injury update for Everton?
00:30Calvert-Lewin came off a bright and didn't look good in the 13th minute and didn't even attempt to try and carry on.
00:42I think he knew he was done and I think as soon as he went down, David Moyes said to Beto to go and get ready.
00:51After it, David Moyes wasn't optimistic so you're probably looking at a grade 2 tear at a minimum.
00:59Hopefully he might be able to avoid injury but it leaves Everton with one fifth striker at the minute in Beto.
01:05He's had a mixed time to say the least since he arrived at Everton.
01:12There haven't been discussions with Chelsea about ending his loan but at the end of the day it's Chelsea's prerogative.
01:19They might be saying we want his full wages to be covered to Everton, bite the bullet but then that comes off maybe the budget in terms of PSR etc.
01:30You said to me, the young striker who suffered an injury in pre-season, he came back for a bit and now he's out for a fire shoot.
01:38Is he ready to lead your line? It means the priorities have shifted.
01:43I think Everton might have been able to get away without a striker in this window if Calvert-Lewin had stayed fit.
01:49Wingers, attacking the field has maybe been the priority but depending on how long Calvert-Lewin is out for, I think it will be a prolonged period.
02:01Number nine is a necessity, Bournemouth with Evan Nilsson out.
02:06There's not a lot of number nines out there anymore because teams play with only one striker.
02:11It's not like there's a wash with centre-forwards anymore.
02:15If you're a striker, do you want to go to Everton?
02:19Now there's probably more appeal going to Everton under David Moyes than there was Sean Dyche.
02:24It was a thankless task leading the line for Everton under Sean Dyche but Moyes has got a bit more of an emphasis for strikers playing between the posts.
02:34But it's got to be right for the player.
02:38Will they want to make the move to Everton where they might be in the relegation battle or do they go somewhere else?
02:45It's certainly put a spanner into Everton's recruitment because they were probably looking at Wingers attacking the field as maybe a left-back if there was any more room in the budget.
02:54But I think the priority now is getting a striker in.
