00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the National Disaster Management Agency to
00:06fine-tune the coordination between state and federal agencies in helping flood victims.
00:13In a Facebook post, Anwar said the main priority was the welfare of the victims as well as
00:18the safety of residents in affected areas, adding that he was saddened by the worsening
00:23floods in Sabah and Sarawak.
00:27He said the state education departments have also been ordered to take appropriate measures
00:30to ensure SPM candidates affected by the floods will be able to sit for the examination in
00:36a safe and conducive environment.
00:39Separately, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said all federal and state disaster
00:44relief assets have been mobilized to 13 locations in Sarawak hit by floods.
00:50Zahid, who is also an ADMA chairman, said more than 50 relief centers have been activated
00:56to house flood victims in the state.
00:59He said NAMA will coordinate with relevant parties, including the education ministry,
01:03to identify more schools and community halls that could be used as relief centers.
01:09As of 3 p.m., the number of flood victims in the two states has risen to over 8,500.
