00:00Joho Amno youth leader Nur Azlin Ambros said Barisan Nasional would stand a better chance
00:07at winning second-tier parliamentary seats by joining forces with Pakatan Harapan at
00:12the next general election.
00:15He said an electoral collaboration would allow the two coalitions to benefit from each other's
00:20strengths in wooing fence-sitters and ensure the seats are contested in a two-way fight,
00:26which improves the party's chances.
00:29Azlin was responding to comments by Ilham Centre Executive Director Hisomuddin Bakar,
00:35who said BN would face a major challenge in winning over young fence-sitters in tier-two
00:40seats, particularly those aged 18-20.
00:45In 2022, BN had struggled to secure the youth vote and suffered its worst electoral defeat,
00:52winning only 30 seats in the general election.
00:56Azlin said the government's performance would play a crucial role in attracting young voters
01:02and that policies implemented would need to resonate with the youth, especially regarding
01:07wages, housing and the cost of living.
01:11Subang Amno Chief Arman Azhar Abu Hanifa said Hisomuddin's views were personal and did not
01:17reflect reality, citing recent by-elections in Ninggiri, Kelantan and Makuta, Johor, where
01:23BN saw increased youth backing.
01:28He also suggested that if BN continues its alliance with PH, Amno should request that
01:34PH make way for BN in some semi-urban and urban seats.
