00:00A PKR assemblyman has dismissed talk of factionalism in the party's recent divisional elections attributing the defeats of several senior leaders to complacency rather than internal power struggles.
00:13The senior assemblyman told FMT on condition of anonymity that the deputy ministers, MPs, assemblymen and even one minister who lost in the divisional polls were now weak leaders but had grown too comfortable in their positions.
00:27He said holding these positions gave them a false sense of security and they assumed victory would come easy.
00:34Meanwhile, a senior PKR MP also allayed talk of power struggles, saying there were no factions in the party led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim presently.
00:43However, he pointed out that many bigwigs who lost in the divisional polls were leaders who had aligned themselves with Rafi Z. Romney's IU Malaysia platform during the last party election three years ago.
00:54He said in the recent PKR elections, its leaders were punished by the grassroots for standing that faction then.
01:01A slew of prominent incumbent divisional leaders were knocked out over the past two weekends as members elect lesser-known figures in the party's divisional polls.
01:11PKR Vice Presidents Nick Nazmin Nick Ahmad and Kay Saraswathy, PKR Youth Chief Adam Adli and several MPs were among those who lost.
