00:00An analyst said the way BAKATAN HARAPAN is structured makes it highly unlikely that DAP

00:07will end up becoming PKR's lapdog.

00:11James Chin of the University of Tasmania said PKR does not dominate the current unity government

00:17nor the BAKATAN HARAPAN coalition in the way UMNO controlled the Barisan National Administration.

00:24He said MCA was labeled UMNO's lapdog as its leaders were heavily involved in business

00:30in the 1980s and 1990s, which he claimed made it easy for UMNO to control them.

00:37Chin said DAP is still recognized for its strong stand against corruption, cryptocracy

00:43and scandals, while continuing to advocate for the Chinese community.

00:49Previously, UMNO's Supreme Council member, Puat Zakarshi, claimed that DAP would share

00:54MCA's fate in the government and would eventually see a decline in support and influence.

01:01Hishamuddin Bakar of Ilham Center agreed that DAP was unlikely to suffer the same fate as

01:07MCA, as the party still has the support of young voters.

01:13On the flip side, he said the younger generation has rejected MCA just as Malay youths have

01:19turned away from UMNO.
