00:00One of the two generals implicated in the 990-kilo illegal drug bust slash heist in 2022 has flown the coup.
00:10Word has it that the ranking officers fled the country on January 8.
00:14And while 20 officers are in police custody, nine more remain at large, as our Rocky Nisigis reports.
00:22The Philippine National Police revealed one of the two police generals involved in the 990-kilo sabsabu raid in Manila in 2022 has left the country.
00:33According to Police Regional Office 3 Director and PNP Spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo, the undamed general left the country as early as January 8.
00:43We can explore other options of coordinating with the Interpol.
00:48And as a matter of practice, if we have warrants, we can apply for a red notice to at least inform the country so that we can help our counterparts to account for this one person out of the country.
01:09Currently, nine police officers involved in the case remain at large.
01:13Of this number, four are active, three retired, one resigned, and one dismissed from service.
01:19Meanwhile, 20 officers are detained, 10 under arresting units, nine at the PNP Custodial Center, and one doing time in Manila City Jail.
01:27These personnel and officials of the PNP face two charges related to the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
01:36The first is Section 92, or bungling the prosecution of the illegal drug case with a bail set for P200,000.
01:44The second is Section 29, or planting of evidence, which is non-bailable.
01:49Although it is heavy, because Section 29 that they were charged with is non-bailable.
01:55But as part of due process, we will pass the hearing on these cases.
02:02And I understand, there are already pre-trials to start the cases that will be filed against them.
02:10According to Fajardo, the PNP is waiting for the prosecution to request a hold departure order against the police officers at large to prevent them from leaving the country.
02:20They are not in a restrictive custody.
02:23And again, if they are listening and they are being watched by their friends and loved ones,
02:29I think it would be in their best interest for them to give up, just like what their colleagues have done,
