00:00Contrary to what critics want the public to believe, crime rate in the country continues to go down.
00:06In fact, latest data from the Philippine National Police or PNP show, Index Crimes,
00:12have gone down significantly in the first 11 months of this year.
00:16By how much? Ryan Desigues has the details.
00:20Under the Bagong Pilipinas, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. prioritizes public safety.
00:37One of his directives to the Philippine National Police or PNP is to increase police visibility
00:42to prevent various crimes that may endanger people's lives.
00:45The PNP immediately recalibrated their deployment, especially in crowded areas.
00:50This measure has already produced results, leading to a declining crime rate nationwide.
00:55Index Crimes recorded in the country dropped by 13.51% in the first 11 months of 2024.
01:02This means that from over 35,000 Index Crimes recorded from January to November 2023,
01:08it dropped to just over 30,000 during the same period this year.
01:12These crimes include pickpocketing, theft, carnapping, and physical violence.
01:17There is also a record high 60% drop in focused crimes,
01:21which included murder, homicide, physical injury, and rape.
01:26This is our promise and commitment to our country as we undertake the internal and external changes
01:37necessary to improve our services to you.
01:41Expect that your PNP will do its best to safeguard the community it serves.
01:46Cybercrime cases in the country have also decreased by 5.75 in the third quarter of the year
01:51compared to the first six months.
01:53Over 3,400 cybercrimes were recorded in the country from July to September this year.
01:59This is slower than the nearly 3,800 cases recorded in the second quarter
02:04and significantly lower than the over 4,000 cases recorded in the first quarter of the year,
02:09With the reduction in crimes nationwide,
02:11the quick response of authorities supported by the revitalized 911 system has been a big factor.
02:17According to PNP spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo,
02:21out of the thousands of emergency calls received, the PNP has responded to 99.97% of them.
02:28This has been Ryan Lizigas, and this is Highlights 2024, for a new and better Philippines.
