00:00You can bemoan the fact that KC is the same old story.
00:04Oh, here these guys go again to play for a Super Bowl.
00:07You can start your conspiracy theories about the referees
00:10and the officiating, whatever you want.
00:12Kansas City makes the plays when it matters most,
00:15and it is why KC will play in its fifth Super Bowl
00:19in the last seven seasons.
00:21It is why Kansas City has ousted Buffalo from the postseason
00:26four times in the last five years.
00:28Donnie, we talked about these familiar foes
00:30in these significant stages basically every season
00:34for the last half decade
00:35when the Buffalo Bills have won the AFC East.
00:38They have been unable to surpass
00:41Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City,
00:44and once again, you see it there.
00:46The last three matchups between these two
00:49decided in the fourth quarter and or overtime
00:52decided by six points or fewer.
00:56It is the same story.
00:57Buffalo unable to get past Kansas City,
01:01and it's now history for the Chiefs,
01:03becoming the first team in NFL history
01:05to eliminate the same opponent
01:07four times in a five-year span.
01:10It's crazy, too, because you have Buffalo
01:12with the success in the regular season
01:14against the Kansas City Chiefs, but when everything matters,
01:16they just can't get over the hump,
01:18and there will be slander today
01:20on the Mar Jacksons of the world and the Josh Allens,
01:22but I don't participate in that.
01:24Like, I didn't watch that game.
01:25Like, man, Josh Allen, even, trust me on this, though.
01:28He had a lot of turnover-worthy plays in that game,
01:30which ended up not being turnovers,
01:31specifically probably there,
01:32but you just have to look at the final statistics.
01:34You're not going to look at that game and say,
01:36Josh Allen lost that football game
01:38or he wasn't game to beating Kansas City.
01:40It's just now we're at the point.
01:41It's like Kansas City just doesn't lose.
01:43It's what they do.
01:44If they win another Super Bowl,
01:45nobody's ever won three in a row here,
01:47and then you're going to say next year,
01:49I think Travis Kelce is going to retire
01:50when they win three straight Super Bowls.
01:51No, they're going to bring the band back together
01:53and probably add on even more pieces than what they have now.
01:56The joke was last year was the time to get them
01:58because that was probably their least talented team,
02:00and they went on the road with the hardest stretch
02:02we've ever seen beating three opponents
02:04they shouldn't have beaten here,
02:05and now we're finding them back into the Super Bowl.
02:07That's my takeaway.
02:08Like, you want to slander the Bills and Josh Allen,
02:11but when cooler heads prevail, you go,
02:13what do you want them to do?
02:14It's the Chiefs.
02:15They beat everybody, you know?
02:18Yep, it's what they continue to do.
02:20Again, we could do the examination
02:22with the preseason odds on Kansas City from 2018 on.
02:26The seven years that Patrick Mahomes
02:28has been the starting quarterback for the Chiefs
02:31and how much money you would have
02:33with a $100 bet on KC
02:35simply to win the AFC Championship,
02:38which they have done five times in that seven-year span.
02:42We will talk more about this dynastic run,
02:44the history at stake in New Orleans,
02:47in the history already made by KC
02:50becoming the first of nine back-to-back Super Bowl winners
02:54to play in a third consecutive Super Bowl.
02:58Again, history for the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
03:02For the Buffalo Bills, DRS, yet again,
03:05you can look at the Pantheon,
03:06you can look atop the mountain
03:08where KC and Andy Reid and Mahomes still stand
03:11and say, man, we are going against generational greatness.
03:15That is the thing holding us back.
03:18But with Josh Allen, specifically in the last five years,
03:21winning a division, hosting at least one playoff game,
03:24this is really starting to sting.
03:27Eight years under Sean McDermott,
03:28seven playoff appearances for Buffalo,
03:31including six consecutive.
03:34A 7-7 record in the postseason for McDermott
03:38that features only two berths in an AFC Championship,
03:42never a Super Bowl appearance.
03:44Buffalo, as an organization,
03:46has not reached the biggest of games since 1993,
03:49now over three decades ago, of course,
03:51when the Bills made four consecutive Super Bowls
03:54and were unable to win a Lombardi Trophy.
03:57A 7-7 playoff record for Sean McDermott, DRS,
04:01but five of those seven victories
04:04coming in the wildcard round.
04:06Should there be slander to those from Western New York,
04:09or is it just, man, we kind of get it,
04:12Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
04:14are just the reason you come up short each and every time?
04:18Yes, it's your escape clause,
04:20and it's very valid at that point.
04:21It's the same with the handicapped Chiefs games now,
04:23by saying, oh, they just have to win the football game,
04:24bet them, like, I'm not throwing any slander,
04:26like, now you have to make a change.
04:27You go to Wu with Sean McDermott,
04:29he keeps running up against the Kansas City Chiefs
04:31and can't get over the hump, but understand this too,
04:34this was a Buffalo Bills team over the past three years
04:36that was like, you know what, now's their time,
04:38they're gonna get to the Super Bowl.
04:39Entering into the season,
04:40they weren't that hot commodity for me in the AFC anymore,
04:43so I actually look at this Buffalo Bills team,
04:45I don't wanna say overachievers,
04:47because that's not fair, they have Josh Allen,
04:48a quarterback, he can win anywhere at any time,
04:50or at least that's the perceived notion,
04:51but this was a team that said, you know what,
04:53we're gonna trade away Stephon Diggs,
04:54we're gonna lose a couple players on defense,
04:56some cap casualties, we're gonna respond,
04:58we're gonna draft a young wide receiver in Keon Coleman,
05:00who, it's unfair to call him a bust,
05:03but you were expecting those expectations
05:05based on he had funny interviews
05:07coming out of Florida State,
05:08and how great he was gonna be for the Buffalo Bills,
05:10and in the biggest moments, he couldn't produce.
05:12You know, probably would've,
05:13if you had a healthy Stephon Diggs,
05:15or a true number one wide receiver,
05:17but I can't fault Buffalo, they tried with Amari Cooper,
05:20he's just cooked right now, Ben,
05:21that's all it is to it.
