00:00So I'm Dec, I'm Kane and we're Tough Love and we're here at the Battle Art today because we're
00:04doing a show here on the 17th of May. Yeah it's the first ever or what we think is the first ever
00:10UK cinema show. I don't think it's ever been done before so it's definitely an exclusive sort of
00:17show. We have 150 tickets that are available and they're probably going to go quite fast so make
00:24sure to pick one up. What made you first want to get into music and then first get into a band?
00:33I think, this is a weird one, I think you end up just kind of falling into it. Everyone has
00:38these ideas of, oh I saw this band play and I thought that's wow. I think I tried learning
00:46guitar when I was like 12 to impress a girl in high school or something and then I realised it
00:51was one of the only things I was somewhat good at and then didn't stop and then now I'm in too
00:57deep so like we can't stop because it'd be a really big waste of time if we stopped now.
01:01Yeah I'd say, so I saw a lot of bands growing up to be fair and in high school was sort of pushed
01:11into the area of being like, when taking my GCSEs and stuff doing music sort of pushed into that
01:17area of like, well something clicks in this sort of realm of sort of like work is like
01:25learning to play something is like something I can focus on so it kind of just went with that and
01:31didn't really stop. It was like a hyper focus pretty much. Yeah, how long have you been doing
01:36it and where have you played across the UK? As a band together I think probably about
01:44five years, six years. We've toured the UK countless times, we've played everywhere,
01:51like the coolest cities and towns to like places I couldn't even tell you the name of, like we'll
01:57rock up and be like where actually are we? We're in an alleyway somewhere and that ends up being
02:01like the coolest place in the world. Like weird converted garages that are like recording studios
02:07and stuff and then we've got a really cool set of venues and we've basically done everything at
02:15this point that you can probably do in the UK. In terms of yeah, in band that's when it started,
02:20I mean since I'd say since like the start of high school for me. How does it feel going from like
02:27you said an alley and you're not quite sure where you are to playing at this big venue,
02:33what was your reaction when you first got the call to do this? It's weird and wild to be fair.
02:40Yeah, I sort of went into it being like let's film a music video at a cinema and then they
02:48kind of came back with I'll do you one better, I want to play a show at the cinema. So it was like
02:54okay, sound, that's a bit mental. The logistics of it and stuff and putting it all together
03:01has been like months, well maybe like not months, about four months or something like that so far.
03:07And then there's another like year to go, so nearly a year of planning and stuff. It's wild, it's
03:14something that again it's something we don't think has been done or not been done a lot or
03:17definitely not been done to the same level that we're going to do it at. So it's a really big
03:23like mental thing for us to kind of comprehend and take over and do every aspect of it ourselves
03:28obviously with the help of the backlot and help of the people like Inertial and the people are
03:33coming together to give us their support here. But actually like planning it and stuff
03:39it's just this huge overtaking that we're still kind of like figuring out as we go every time,
03:43every step we're doing anything. So yeah, there's a lot riding on it. Yeah, massive like shout out
03:48as well to Backlot for like literally being like the most like just saying yes to everything we
03:54ask. So yeah, we managed to get this like put together really nicely and
03:59nice crew that we're working with, so it's going to be a really good show.
04:02Yeah, how would you describe the kind of music that Tough Love does and what are your
04:10what do you do different things in the band like instruments? Oh yeah, okay so
04:13We should have done that earlier. Yeah, I'm the drummer. I'm the vocalist. I'm technically guitar.
04:20I'm technically the guitarist as well. Yeah, but my problem is every guitarist I know is better
04:27than me, so I just don't call myself a guitarist. So we just like we get friends to jump on and play
04:32guitar for us. Yeah, and I don't know sound wise we're kind of like a alt rock, pop punk, post
04:42hardcore, weird, new shoegaze-esque thing. We try and make it so anything that sounds cool we just
04:50do it and figure it out along the way. Yeah, we've kind of just folded to modern day sort of music
04:54like everything that's good and like blowing up right now is kind of what we're chasing. So like
05:01and we're also trying to invent a sound that's sort of like never been done before. So like when
05:06we start talking about like you know like a bedroom core stuff which is like sort of the idea
05:14of like we always had the idea of being like oh it's somewhere you go and like you know you're
05:21always interested by like like when you were growing up you always had that cousin who was
05:25like up in the loft like playing like metal music and like playing video games and stuff and you're
05:29always like intrigued to know like what his room was like and what he was up to like stuff like that.
05:34Yeah I think I said it the other day we were talking about how I like pitch
05:38yeah the music and I was like it's like even Gary over Wimpy Kid it's like
05:44it's Roderick's band it's that and that's the whole thing like we're just Loaded Diaper.
05:50Expect some like crazy Loaded Diaper riffs.
05:54Loaded Diaper Core is what it is.
05:58So just to get what so it's taken to place at the Batplot what date is it and where can people
06:04where can people get tickets? You can get it at the Batplot website I think it's just the
06:08batplot.co.uk. What's the website? Even he doesn't know.
06:15Batplot.co.uk The Batplot.co.uk
06:19yeah you can find there or if you follow us on top love or follow Batplot you'll see on stories
06:26you'll see on posts you can just follow us up on that yeah it's the 17th of May and we'll be around
06:32here for a lot of the day yeah the show itself and it's something like it started at nine for
06:38the actual performance but we're gonna have pop-ups we're having a record store we're having
06:43just a load of fun stuff throughout the day so just just get here from eight just come from
06:47eight seven eight in the morning eight a.m. the day before come out oh yeah um so um
06:59where's the actual uh performance going to take place in the battle is it one of the screens
07:04screen seven screen seven yeah we got um the IMAX got suggested or then they were like
07:12there are way too many logistical problems with the IMAX and if you break something it's going to
07:16cost just shy of 100 grand to fix it so yeah the IMAX got suggested and we went into there with
07:24we saw yeah I think it was Fabio wasn't it yeah but the only issue with that was um it's a
07:29different company or something yeah so there's loads of logistic things but we have probably
07:35one of the coolest screens in the cinema to be doing this in it's got loads of like space for
07:39like it's so it's gonna be really good it's gonna be really good yeah so screen seven which is
07:46yeah
