00:00The Department of Education celebrated their accomplishments in 2024
00:04along with the support of other solutions and programs in 2025.
00:09The details are in the national news of Isaiah Mirafuentes of PTV Manila.
00:16In the leadership of the Department of Education, Secretary Sani Angara
00:20shared their accomplishments for 2024
00:25along with their plans for 2025.
00:29According to the Department of Education,
00:31hundreds of thousands are benefiting from their expanded career progression.
00:37At the same time, President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. ordered
00:40a salary standardization
00:42where the annual salary of teachers increased by 40,000 pesos.
00:47Angara also praised their efforts to strengthen access to education
00:51or what they call alternative learning system
00:54for those who want to return to education.
00:57At the moment, the Department of Education is pursuing a public and private partnership
01:01for the construction of more than 100,000 classrooms
01:04throughout the country
01:05within the term of President Marquez Jr.
01:08where it is a positive action
01:11to close the gap or backlog in the lack of students.
01:15The Department of Education gave a full 20,000 SRI
01:19for the first time
01:21to more than 900,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel.
01:25For the first time in the history of the Department of Education,
01:28under President Marquez,
01:29the Department of Education gave a full 20,000 SRI
01:33to over 900,000 employees of the Department of Education,
01:35not only teachers but also non-teaching personnel.
01:37They are very happy.
01:39According to Angara,
01:40the IRR is pursuing an anti-bullying law
01:45to be more effective in monitoring incidents of bullying
01:49so that more concrete policies can be implemented
01:52in order to prevent such incidents.
01:55The problem is that under the Licensure Act,
01:59a guidance counselor needs a master's degree.
02:01Since that law or requirement passed,
02:04thousands of guidance counseling positions have been vacant.
02:09We have over 4,400 vacancies.
02:12And the problem is that no one is getting guidance counseling in college.
02:16With the help of the Department of Education
02:17and President Marquez Jr.,
02:19their plans this year are to solve
02:23not only the classroom gap but also digitalization.
02:27They will establish a foundation for students
02:31where the Department of Education is pursuing a computerization program
02:35so that the Department of Education can work together
02:37in digitalization,
02:39which is also one of President Marquez Jr.'s mandates.
02:42Angara also argued that despite the huge increase in the budget of the Department of Education,
02:47they will continue to provide the needs of the country
02:51to the Department of Education.
02:52The President does this to all agencies.
02:55He knows that there are many projects that have been approved by various agencies.
02:59And for us, two items have been approved.
03:03Or three, actually, rather.
03:06First is the DepEd computerization.
03:08Almost P10 billion has been approved there.
03:10In the hiring of new teachers,
03:12we have approved over P1 billion.
03:14Then in the classroom construction,
03:16we know that our classroom deficit is huge.
03:19We are short of classrooms.
03:20We have approved over P1 billion,
03:22about P1.5 billion as well.
03:25So the discussion is how this can be remedied.
03:29And we have sought a solution from our beloved President.
03:33Meanwhile, Angara also confirmed
03:35that the return of students to school is on track
03:38for this coming June this year.
03:41From PTV, I'm Sayan Mirafuentes, Balitang Pambansa.
