Sunderland City council have partnered up with Everyone Active, to offer four week EA membership vouchers to smokers who set a quit day with the stop smoking service in Sunderland.

00:00New Year is a great time to quit smoking. It's one of the best things that you can do
00:06for your health, but it's also a really good thing to do for your wallet and your overall
00:11well-being. The opportunity for vouchers from Everyone Active is a fantastic incentive for
00:17people and I would encourage anyone who's thinking about quitting to sign up for them.
00:22Not only do you get weekly tailored advice and support from our specialist stop smoking service,
00:28but all you need to do is speak to them and set a date to quit. So whether it's your first time
00:34trying or if you've tried before, I would encourage anyone now is the time to quit smoking.

00:51available. It'll be new start, new year, new you. So the vouchers from Everyone Active are really
00:59good. You can use them in any site across the city, so you can go to wherever is local to you,
01:05which is brilliant for all of our residents. And you can use them for either fitness classes,
01:10swimming or using the gym, so there really is something for everyone.
01:14The incentive scheme is being funded from the local stop smoking services, as well as a support
01:18grant provided by the Department of Health and Social Care
01:21to boost the city support to smokers in order to help them quit.
01:27Lowering smoking rates in Sunderland is a key priority for the council.
01:31Through our Healthy City Plan, we've set a strong ambition to lower the rates of smoking in Sunderland
01:36to benefit all of our residents' health. We're really pleased that in October,
01:40we recorded our lowest ever rates for smoking, but we can always go further, and this is a great
01:44opportunity to support our residents, to help them and help our communities with their health improvements.
