00:00We love to sit back in our chairs and analyze what happened on big games in the previous night.
00:04None bigger than the National Championship game, which took place in Atlanta last night.
00:09And it was the Ohio State Buckeyes, 34, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 23.
00:13Lines closed anywhere between 8 to 9, depending where you're shopping at.
00:17The totals usually settling in around 45 and a half.
00:20The game did go over. Ohio State did cover.
00:23And we'll get to some of the finer points on how they actually covered and how the gameplay played out.
00:27But Joe, let's just go back to the opening kickoff, the pageantry.
00:31How were you feeling entering into this game with the chances that you could possibly see an upset from Notre Dame?
00:37Or did you just think that Ohio State was the better team even before we kicked off?
00:42Yeah, I was all on Ohio State, Donnie, from the get-go.
00:47I've had future tickets on them.
00:49And I did not quite understand the opening up at 9 and a half and all that money coming in all week on Notre Dame.
00:58I just thought there were levels to this.
01:00And Notre Dame, great team, great season.
01:04But the problem with a Notre Dame is that they're not built to come from behind.
01:08And what we have been seeing over the last month in these playoffs from Ohio State, the game script worried me for Notre Dame.
01:15What would happen if they fell behind one or two scores?
01:18Would they be able to throw their way back into the game?
01:22And ultimately, they couldn't.
01:24And that was why I was worried about that number.
01:27You know, even when they scored on that first drive, 15 plays, you were able to get Ohio State at 4 and a half, 5, under a touchdown at that particular point,
01:40which I just thought was crazy because Ohio State, the single most talented team in the country, that actually played to a level of their talent,
01:50which is, unfortunately, Donnie, we don't see that every year.
01:54It felt like a mismatch.
01:55And ultimately, it kind of was a mismatch when it was all said and done.
