00:00Texas down by a touchdown 21 to 14 in the final two and a half
00:04minutes of regulation. First in goal from the one it seemed as
00:09though the Longhorns were going to tie the game and maybe even
00:13force overtime at the Cotton Bowl. But Ohio State's goalline
00:17defense supreme and elite the best in college football all
00:21year had other ideas which led to a fourth and goal from the
00:26Buckeyes eight Quinn Ewers drops back in his freshman year
00:30roommate in CBUS Jack Sawyer hunts him down sack strip scoop
00:37score 83 yards in a defensive play in a moment that will live
00:42on forever in Ohio State football lore. The Pickerington
00:47Ohio native the Columbus kid sends the Buckeyes back to a
00:51national championship as Ohio State outlast Texas 28 to 14.
00:57The Buckeyes cover as a five and a half point favorite in the
01:00Cotton Bowl, a total of 51 and a hook stays under 83 yards to
01:06pay to DRS the Jack Sawyer scoop and score again a lasting
01:10memory forever in Ohio State football history.
01:15They got to love that. And now they're going to be in the
01:16national championship game supposed to win it put another
01:19one on the mats where after a season that looked like it was
01:21going to end in turmoil after that lost to Michigan and Ryan
01:24Day would be fired. How about that redemption story going to
01:26the playoff and absolutely throttle every single opponent
01:29that you play because it looks like that's a possibility with
01:32the game of Notre Dame on deck. Now let's separate the Ohio
01:34State Buckeyes to me the most talented team in the country.
01:37They're putting it together at the right time as I started
01:39talking about at the top of the hour. I love this because
01:41nobody's gonna look back like man, they shouldn't even have
01:43did that. No, no, no, they got into the college football
01:45playoff and absolutely ran roughshod over the top teams in
01:48the country. No fluke best team in the country. If they do win
01:51it. I'll say the same thing for Notre Dame. But also let's
01:54flip it over to the Texas Longhorns. What has most like
01:57you could just be a casual college football fan. You could
01:59be a hardcore college football fan. You could be a Texas fan or
02:02a non Texas fan. The thing that came up the entire season was I
02:06don't understand like Arch Manning was one of the best
02:08high school recruits in the history of football and he can't
02:11beat out Quinn Ewers. And every time we watch Quinn Ewers
02:14outside of yes, he's a solid quarterback. There were games
02:17where like, boy, I think Arch can do a lot more things here
02:20to try to help this football team out and maybe take that
02:22offense to the next level only to have it come down to a first
02:25and goal from the one yard line down seven points to say, okay,
02:29Quinn Ewers is not athletic enough to quarterback sneak
02:32this in for a six inch or two foot touchdown right now. And I
02:35do have a guy on the bench that's very athletic, 6'4, 225,
02:38230, that can absolutely ram this in. Why are we handing the
02:42football and getting no yards and going, you know what, here's
02:44what we're going to do. Let's run a toss sweep or something
02:46different. The quarterback sneak might have put you into
02:49the national championship picture. So Sarkeesian and
02:52Ewers, I look at that and say, this is more on you than
02:54anything else. That's a play you have to convert and you have
02:57the capabilities with a player just behind Quinn Ewers that
03:01would have scored that touchdown and you didn't use them. Those
03:03are the question marks that I come away with. But also now
03:06you know what I'm ready for in the offseason for Texas for
03:08another quarterback to take over for Arch Manning and then tell
03:11us he's just not ready yet, even though he's one of the best
03:13recruits we've ever had in the history of the school from day
03:16one, Quinn Ewers should not have been the starting
03:18quarterback when Arch Manning was there. And congratulations
03:20Texans. You don't have a Texas, you don't have a national
03:23championship because of that. And I believe that.
