00:00Let's reach our health and wellness goals together this year.
00:11Of course, you're still with us, the experts from PinoyMD.
00:15Happy and healthy Saturday!
00:17I'm your host for this healthy Connie season.
00:19And later, we'll also be joined by our trusted obstetrician-gynecologist.
00:26Doc Q will answer your questions about your health.
00:32Stay tuned for PinoyMD's return.
00:36Because when it comes to health, this is legit.
00:39This morning in PinoyMD,
00:42caught on camera, a motorcycle ran over and ran over,
00:46until it slowly sped up and crashed.
00:50What is the danger of these motorcycle tricks
00:53to our health and how can we avoid them?
00:57And is a one-meal-a-day OMAD diet safe and effective?
01:06In the meantime, here's our obstetrician-gynecologist, Doc Q,
01:10to answer some questions about your health that you sent to our FB page.
01:15Good morning to you, Doc Q.
01:17Happy New Year!
01:19Good morning, Connie, and of course, Happy New Year!
01:21To our loved ones, Happy New Year to all of you.
01:24Here's our first question, Doc Q, for you.
01:27Why does her menstruation stop?
01:29And why does her stomach and heart often hurt?
01:33She's now 49 years old.
01:35And that question is from Romayla Paulino.
01:39At the age of 49, Romayla, we can say that you're in the perimenopausal period.
01:44And the symptoms you're experiencing now are part of your perimenopausal period.
01:49It means that your menstrual cycle will become irregular.
01:53Sometimes, your period will be long between your two cycles,
01:57or it will be too short.
01:59And in terms of the volume of your flow,
02:03there are times when your period is weak,
02:07and there are also times when it's strong.
02:09And of course, the other signs and symptoms of this are
02:12you have a headache, your head is hot,
02:14you have hot flashes, your face is hot, you blush sometimes,
02:18and you're very sensitive to heat.
02:21Sometimes, you need to wear a full-blast earphone and an electric fan.
02:25And then there are other signs and symptoms like
02:28your skin is getting dry,
02:30and sometimes you have a problem,
02:34and you are also prone to develop your nary trach infection
02:36during the perimenopausal period.
02:38Here's the next question, Doc.
02:41The question is, is it prohibited to eat sweets for those who are breastfeeding?
02:46The question is from Mommy Giselle.
02:49It's not prohibited, Giselle, to eat sweets,
02:52especially if you're breastfeeding,
02:53because we also need sugar as one of the main sources of energy,
02:58and it forms carbohydrates.
03:01But there's a saying that if it's too much, it won't be good.
03:06So, our sugar intake should be moderate,
03:09not too much, not too little.
03:12We need to have a balanced diet and drink a lot of water
03:16so that the sugar can be diluted in our body.
03:20There are also studies that show that if a mother's sugar consumption is too high,
03:26the baby, because the sugar is also taken from the baby's breast milk,
03:29is prone to develop diabetes mellitus later on in life,
03:33especially if the baby has a genetic predisposition.
03:42Banking here,
03:45banking there.
03:48These motorists, if they go too fast,
03:51they'll crash.
03:54This one, it looks like it has tricks up its sleeve for the viewers.
03:59Until it slowly slows down
04:02and suddenly...
04:05What are the dangers of this?
04:07And how can we avoid it?
04:12Stay tuned for more!
04:16Meanwhile, back to our Facebook question.
04:18Doc Q, here's a question from our Facebook.
04:21Can a 16-year-old woman get pregnant even if she's not menstruating yet?
04:28The condition of a 16-year-old woman
04:31is what we call primary amenorrhea.
04:34And there are many reasons for this.
04:36The most common thing here at her age is that she might have a primary ovarian failure.
04:41But even if she has that problem, she can still get pregnant
04:45because the function of the ovaries becomes unpredictable.
04:48There are times when she can develop eggs there,
04:52and there are times when she can't.
04:54So, if she can't get pregnant,
04:57she can still get pregnant.
04:59Just like any other woman who misses their menstruation,
05:02they can still get pregnant.
05:08This new year, many of us have a goal to be fit and healthy.
05:12But are you going to marry if your diet is just one meal a day?
05:17What kind of diet is this?
05:19We will reveal it later here on
05:23If weight loss is just a topic,
05:25I have an entry for that,
05:27because sharing is caring.
05:30I had a struggle after I gave birth to my son back in 2013.
05:36That is, of course, in terms of my weight loss.
05:39I noticed that whatever exercise I do,
05:42whatever diet I do,
05:44I can't lose weight.
05:46So, I thought,
05:48Aside from regular exercise,
05:50another secret of my weight loss is my diet.
05:54Where I only eat once a day.
05:57Yes, you heard it right,
06:00this is what we call one meal a day,
06:03and it's not just one meal a day.
06:06It's not just one meal a day.
06:08It's not just one meal a day.
06:10It's not just one meal a day.
06:12It's not just one meal a day.
06:14It's not just one meal a day.
06:17One meal a day or OMAD
06:19Scientists have found that,
06:22I think around the 1970s,
06:25there was an experiment done
06:27where it's not just one meal a day,
06:30but they found the benefits of prolonged fasting.
06:34Where fasting allows our body to repair it.
06:41OMAD or one meal a day
06:44can truly benefit an individual.
06:49Struggle is real in the beginning,
06:51but because of my discipline,
06:53achieved the expected result.
06:56It really benefited me.
06:58As time goes by,
07:00I see the benefits in me.
07:02Aside from weight loss,
07:04which is not my primary goal,
07:06I just want to be healthy.
07:08That's my first goal is to become healthier.
07:10When I did OMAD,
07:13I feel lighter,
07:15I sleep better,
07:17and my cravings are gone.
07:21Consistency is the key.
07:23And after a few years,
07:25here I am.
07:27Maybe it's just our second nature
07:29that we want to be followed.
07:31We want to be fast.
07:33There's no available doctor.
07:35But you know,
07:37our body is just one.
07:39And I take it to heart,
07:41I make sure that we tell the doctor
07:43everything that we need to say
07:45so that we can be guided correctly.
07:47We shouldn't just move around,
07:49especially when it comes to diet.
07:5325-year-old tattoo artist
07:55and virtual assistant, Christine,
07:57eats one meal a day.
08:01Christine used to be a heavy eater.
08:03She used to weigh 72 kilos.
08:05Because of this,
08:07she made a decision
08:10to lose weight.
08:12Sour,
08:14bloated,
08:16those are the two words
08:18that I don't want to say
08:20because I'm just fat
08:22but I'm not like that.
08:24Because of this,
08:26she decided to lose weight
08:28from eating less.
08:30She also started
08:32to eat one meal a day.
08:34OMAD is just
08:36a self-discovery
08:39that I only eat one meal a day.
08:41And whenever someone asks me
08:43how I found out about OMAD,
08:47I tell them
08:49that I don't really check
08:51or consult.
08:53I only eat one meal a day.
08:57You need to assess
08:59the state of the system
09:01of your body.
09:03It's important
09:05that we know the state
09:08of your body
09:10like micronutrients,
09:12macronutrients,
09:14the composition of your body,
09:16muscle mass,
09:18fat mass.
09:20Not everyone
09:22can immediately engage
09:24in OMAD.
09:26It needs to be medically supervised.
09:28If others are strict
09:30on the time of eating,
09:32Christine doesn't have a fixed time.
09:34And in her one meal a day,
09:36I'm not strict
09:38on the time of eating,
09:40but I stick to it
09:42every time I wake up.
09:44Since I'm alone,
09:46the only thing I can buy
09:48is an egg.
09:50I'll boil an egg
09:52or cook an egg.
09:54There are those proponents,
09:56the biohackers,
09:58who say you can have
10:00the earlier you stop eating.
10:02Especially for some,
10:05to stop eating
10:07after 2 p.m.
10:09You can start eating
10:11as early as 9 a.m.
10:13That's a good way to start
10:15the time. That's a biological pattern
10:17of eating.
10:19If you eat one meal a day,
10:21either you start eating
10:23at 9 a.m.
10:25or within that period,
10:279 to 2 p.m.
10:29Dr. Oye reminds us
10:31that OMAD diet is important
10:34You can exercise
10:36as long as it's clear
10:38and medically supervised
10:40on how you implement
10:42this one meal a day
10:44in your daily life.
10:48I started walking
10:50when my brother invited me.
10:52He was inspired by me
10:54in 2024 since I started
10:56dieting a long time ago.
10:58If I have a client
11:00or I don't bike,
11:03and after years of OMAD diet
11:05since I was 72kg,
11:07I'm only 52kg now.
11:11When I lost weight,
11:13I was happy. They said it's better for me.
11:15I glowed more.
11:17Dr. Oye has a reminder
11:19for those who want to start
11:21the one meal a day diet.
11:23Fasting or even one meal a day
11:25is not going to work
11:27if what you eat
11:29is processed food
11:31or high in simple
11:33refined carbohydrates.
11:35It's not going to work.
11:37If you eat like that,
11:39you will increase
11:41the hormone
11:43called insulin.
11:45If the insulin level is too high
11:47in our blood,
11:49especially if you have insulin resistance,
11:51you will not lose weight.
11:53In fact,
11:55you will likely gain
11:57more weight
12:00in your body.
12:02Remember,
12:04before we try different diets,
12:06we need to consult
12:08with experts
12:10and follow their advice
12:12so that our fitness goals
12:14are not only achieved,
12:16but also safe and effective.
12:21And lastly,
12:23question from Anna Ramos.
12:25Is it normal to have
12:27menstruation right away
12:30or is it only a week?
12:32Anna, your problem is that it's not normal.
12:34The normal menstrual cycle
12:36should be 28 days
12:38plus or minus 7 days
12:40from 21 to 35 days.
12:42If your menstrual cycle is less than 21 days
12:44or more than 35 days,
12:46it's not normal anymore.
12:48It means that what happened to you
12:50is not normal.
12:52That's why you need to be evaluated
12:54by your gynecologist
12:56to know the reason
12:59Thank you so very much Doc Yu
13:01for answering our questions
13:03especially the ones we received
13:05on our Facebook page.
13:07And of course, keep them coming
13:09until next week.
13:29This highway
13:31is also known as
13:33The Devil's Corner
13:35because of the zig-zag road here.
13:37It's frequented by motorcycle riders
13:39who like thrill.
13:45The other thing here,
13:47if you complain,
13:49you'll be considered a stuntman
13:51in an action film.
13:59Just like in the video
14:01taken by a vlogger,
14:03you can see the riders
14:05going crazy
14:07and getting better at stunts.
14:14But according to the Physical Rehabilitation
14:16and Sports Medicine Specialist,
14:18Dr. Hubert Ko,
14:20it's not easy to do
14:22on highways like in Marilake
14:24the tricks that the riders
14:26do in the video
14:28are dangerous.
14:38With regards to banking,
14:40you need to understand
14:42that race bikes are different
14:44from road bikes.
14:46Specifically, I'm talking about
14:48their wheels.
14:50The wheels of a race bike
14:52are actually fitted
14:54to avoid skidding
14:57unlike normal road bikes.
15:24Of course,
15:27if there's an impact,
15:29we can have a traumatic brain injury
15:31or a head injury.
15:33If your head is hit,
15:35it can cause a fracture
15:37that can pass through the brain
15:39or cause hematoma formation
15:41or blood in the brain.
15:43When this happens,
15:45it can compress our brain
15:47and lead to loss of consciousness
15:49or memory loss,
15:51personality change
15:53or weakness.
15:57If the impact is severe,
15:59it can be a sign
16:01of paralysis.
16:03If our spinal cord is hit
16:05in the neck,
16:07in the thorax
16:09or in the back,
16:11it will lead to
16:13spinal cord injury
16:15leading to long-term paralysis.
16:17It means that we won't be able
16:19to move our legs
16:21or arms.
16:23Dr. Hubert always reminds
16:26our riders
16:28to be careful
16:30on the road
16:32before riding.
16:34If we want to join
16:36motorcycle racing
16:38or banking,
16:40then what we need to do
16:42is always wear protective gears.
16:44Wear a helmet, wear elbow pads,
16:46knee pads to protect yourself.
16:48Use the right kind of bike.
16:50Use a race bike,
16:52not a road bike.
16:54We can race
16:56on the right asphalt
16:58or racetracks
17:00to avoid accidents
17:02and crashes.
17:04Ride safe,
17:06remember,
17:08safety is the priority
17:10to avoid accidents
17:12and have a smooth ride.
17:18Thank you for tuning in
17:20within an hour.
17:23We hope that we inspired you
17:25to be fit and healthy
17:27this new year.
17:29Until next Saturday,
17:31see you again

17:37I'm your host, Connie Sison,
17:39reminding you that
17:41our body is one,
17:43so we should take care of it.
17:45I'm your obstetrician-gynecologist,
