What do you look for in a holiday? Sun, sea and sand or sightseeing, shopping and sangria? Either way it's great to have a holiday to look forwarded to. Getting some much needed vitamin D, and just getting away from it all. But where are scousers jetting off to this year?

00:00Sun-drenched beaches, snowy ski slopes, all culture galore. Whether you want a glamorous getaway,
00:07a fun family holiday or a short city break, we've been at Liverpool John Lennon Airport
00:12to hear about their most popular destinations for 2025. We've got a number of new routes operating,
00:18so a bit of a mix from our city break. So we've got Berlin, which you've not seen for a good few
00:24years come back to the airport. We've got Prague, which again another destination we have had and
00:28then it stopped and now it's come back again. We've got an additional service over to Marrakesh.
00:33We've also got a new service running for the summer to Sharm el Sheikh into Egypt, which is
00:38probably the furthest destination directly that you can get to from here. Topping the list for a
00:42second consecutive year, Liverpool John Lennon Airport was once again named best in the UK
00:47according to the annual survey by Consumer Champions, which customers praised their
00:51experience at the airport, rating it five stars for its friendly and good-natured staff,
00:56as well as for short queues at bag drop and security. It also received four stars for its
01:01toilets, wi-fi, seating, baggage reclaim and queues at the check-in desk and passport control. We've
01:07seen this kind of incremental growth, some are new destinations but a lot are just increasing the
01:11frequency, again to give consumers that little bit of extra flexibility. If you want to go for one day,
01:17two days, two weeks, three weeks, again there's a bigger choice for passengers ahead. Having only
01:21started operations from Liverpool for the first time last year, Jet2 have responded to strong
01:26demand from UK holidaymakers wanting to book their getaways. It's been interesting for us
01:30because we've seen last year with Jet2 coming to the airport for the first time, you know,
01:35they've brought not so much many new destinations but more choice for passengers, particularly with
01:41the all-inclusive packages that they offer. And we've seen more of the same again this year, so
01:45Jet2 are increasing their programme, they're adding some new destinations, they're adding
01:49more frequency to other destinations and that's what we've seen with other carriers as well.
01:53The airline and tour operator has put on 23 sunshine hotspots on sale for summer 2025,
01:59operating almost 70 weekly flights to destinations including Malta, Madeira and Mallorca.
02:05That all-inclusive package where you kind of have to worry about all the little bits and
02:11pieces of that jigsaw, whether it's the flight, the car hire, the accommodation,
02:16that's proven very popular to passengers these days to give the operator, you know,
02:21sorts all that out for them. So yeah, it's certainly a market that we've seen growing here
02:24at Liverpool. The new facilities in the departure lounge include Monty's, an all-day diner with
02:29seating for almost 200 passengers, a new expanded premium lounge that will be twice the size of the
02:34existing facility and an extension and upgraded design to the existing Kissing Gate pub and
02:39kitchen. We've got bigger and better kind of food and beverage areas going in the departure lounge,
02:44got a change in security and it's all about, you know, maintaining those really high standards that
02:49we've set. You know, we're really pleased with the reaction of passengers, some feedback to us
02:52about how much they enjoy flying from here. So we want to give them bigger and better facilities
02:57and that's what we're putting in place.
